What’s up buddy.
I’m a 3.0 KD top 0.1% player and I’m gonna give you some tips.
Your positioning in this clip is FLAWLESS and on the other hand your opponents is horrible. This was your gun fight to win but you lost, why?
Three reasons;
1. Bad awareness.
2. You missed your shots.
3. You did not slide into the engagement.
Let’s break it down. You get a radar ping AND you see him. You know he has a hand cannon and that he’s not playing cover.
You’re using an auto rifle, so you can NOT peak shot him, he will always win. What you should have done is slide into the engagement, giving away your cover. Most people will see this as a bad play but they would be wrong. You standing near cover in this specific situation is doing nothing for you. You can’t peak shot, you have nowhere to run if you start to lose the engagement, and you’re using an auto rifle. You needed to take the all in and go for the kill or a trade.
Sliding into the engagement while strafing gives you the highest chance of winning this gunfight. Even with poor accuracy, because auto rifles are extremely forgiving, you would win this if your opponent misses a single shot while you’re sliding or strafing.

The “git gud” responses are typically given to people complaining after losing a game or losing to a weapon and asking Bungie to nerf it.

Auto rifles have 2 things going for them: -Half decent flinch output -accuracy forgiveness (from damage profile) Winning with an auto rifle in a straight up duel requires a few things: -drawing your opponent from cover -leveraging the strengths of the auto (flinch output and forgiveness) by making the opponent miss. My tip for sliding encounters is to back strafe imediately upon exiting the slide. Many players struggle to track a slide one direction followed by a sharp strafe the other and it can give you that 1 shot advantage you need to win

Um no. Autos have some of the faster TTKs when you hit your shots. You basically need your opponent to miss once and you not to miss. That’s it

Their TTKs are extremely average lmao. And on top of that they don’t even have any real strengths going for them.

Auto Rifle TTK 0.77 - 0.83 optimal 140 HC ttk: 0.87 120 HC ttk: 1.00 And if that 140 hits a single body shot (or misses) it becomes 1.3s Where as with autos, the body shot ttk is between 1.17 and 1.33. So in an open gunfight, auto rifles not only kill faster optimally, but if the HC user doesnt 3 tap, the auto can win without hitting a single headshot. Not saying autos are strong. But if you can force an opponent out of cover, you should win. (within optimal range)

I mean. He missed his shots pretty much completely And shot second And wants to know why he lost. Ttk is the only thing autos have going for them basically so its definitely worth bringing up. And if you can’t understand the simple concept of hit your shots = win in an open duel like that one then idk what to tell you.

Autos have no utility while also having generally very average TTK values. They have no strengths. Don’t pretend they do lmao.

Not arguing against that point I’m sayin that in this specific situation where the hand cannon user didn’t utilize any strengths of the hand cannon (didn’t peek shoot, didn’t jump) The auto rifle is honestly perfectly competitive. And if he had hit his shots he would have won or atleast traded. But he didn’t

I love players who do this. So much easier to head shot someone bobbing up and down than it is to headshot someone strafing side to side. Keep up the good work.
