Could be a TV show, or a game, or a film, or a book, or an album, or a radio show, or a podcast, or a gig, or a play, or an opera, or that old guy stood with an ancient karaoke machine in the highstreet ‘singing’ ABBA…

Frankly, it is an absolutely amazing show, and it was 100% worth it to temporarily put aside my hatred for Netflix to watch it! I’m still annoyed I can’t buy it on disc, though. Part of why I hate streaming services; they never put their stuff on disc.
And yes, I know why they don’t. Still annoys me, though.
Besides its streaming exclusivity, I have very few, if any, complaints with the show. The characters are likable, the plot is fun, and the jokes are some of the best I’ve seen in a cartoon. I’m particularly fond of the elves, and their obsession with contracts, and paperwork. It feels almost something like a fusion of Gravity Falls—with its world of magical creatures, and mystery—and Steven Universe—with its super empathetic always-do-good protag. Though, the show does lack any central antagonist; its problems generally lasting episode to episode. Don’t take that to mean there’s no continuity, however, as the show never forgets the ordeals the characters have been through, and they have plenty of growth as the show goes on. I’ve only watched the first season, but I’m excited to see the second! Hilda has quickly become my 4th favorite cartoon, taking the spot previously held by Gravity Falls, but I don’t think it’s quite as good as Avatar/Korra, and Steven Universe, though it’s not far behind!
