i think its the same with every activity in the game. At the sart of the season when gear is new and needed for level up, every mode,raid or dungeon gets played alot and over time playerbase in those activities goes down. it will be the same with trials. so the two most important things to keep it alive a bit longer is good loot for all players and some sort of "protection" for the less skilled players that they actually feel their time is relevant and they are not just there to be fodder for the top 15-25%. If bungie is serious about this change, dont worry there are already fixes to prevent players to go around the system. F.E. For Carries, require everyone in the fireteam to be on the same win to start a game. im sure bungie will come up with solutions for the other negative impacts of workarounds. The question is how serious is bungie about this and do they fold to the loud minority/streamers/youtubers or do they decide how they want their mode to be. we will see, time will tell. have a nice day.
