How can matchmaking be this bad?
How? Why? Is matchmaking this awful! Or is it you don't care.

But I still get matched up against 2-3kd players 95% of the time. It's "matching" absolutely nothing. Most matches end with the winning team ALL having positive KD's at the end. The loosing team almost always has one player at top with positive and everyone else a strong negative KD. Hmm it's almost like the fate of the match is predetermined by a win loss balancing algorithm

4 RespuestasIt is a common misconception that Bungie does matchmaking by skill. It is made worse by the message at the bottom of the screen when a team is mercied that says "Finding a better match." They don't do that. Glory playlists go by season rank, Trials is card based, but others are 100% connection based. And yeah, it sucks. It's even worse when you look at the LFGs out there looking for people with 3.0+ KD to "mercy farm." Just bad lobby balancing most of the time. They have to get that right if hey want to keep up CBMM, though I have no issue with them going SBMM with crossplay active now

Cbmm at its finest it's been this way since season of arrivals man. Lobby balance ain't gonna help it either since bungie tried it with iron banner and it flopped. The fact that matchmaking went to -blam!- with the removal of skill based should have clued people in but hey.

I agree - I exclusively lfg teams or play with friends because solo is exhausting. If I could get a team that averages out to 0.9kd, I'd happily solo. But 5 players that more often than not averages below 0.5 kda, I'll pass.

1 RespuestaLast night I was grinding out some valor ranks in mayhem. It was getting late so I decided I'll just play one more game, but that game went poorly so I decided to keep going until I win. I ended up losing 7 games straight until finally getting a win. My lowest KD (not KDA) was 1.43 and was in first place in 6 our of 7 lost games, yet I just lost over and over again. Considering it's supposed to be connection based matchmaking, the hell kind of luck did I have which lead to just constantly matching with terrible players on my team?

i agree 100% matchmaking is totally F-ed !!!! other games have an algorithm where more players are happy. bungie is not trying to make the most players happy with this matchmaking system , its just the easiest to implement !!! only the top 3-4 people have fun every match, let them play each other -- this is BS !!!!!

Peer to peer networking outright destroys any sense of skill in game, since you’ll always have laggy players, especially since pvp has a low population right now, and it’s the start of the season… This game can’t be competitive just because of peer to peer networking giving lag switchers and foreign players a massive advantage. This game has bled pvp players for several years now. It’s not just from the sbmm vs cbmm debate. There is so many reasons why. The fact Bungie thinks it can be competitive is actually weird with an outdated processing system. Just don’t take Pvp seriously. It’s a joke in the competitive scene. Always has been. I won’t play trials since I have personal mental issues, and I’m fine with that.

It's not matchmaking that's bad. It's horrible lag and cheaters running rampant, at least a couple in every lobby.

Bungie simply ignores all feedback regarding matchmaking or anything to do with PVP. It's a -blam!- box!

If I was getting paid to develop games and the d2 pvp sandbox was an example of my most recent work, I would 100% expect to be let go. It is genuinely and abjectly terrible.

1 RespuestaOk my view after 70k kills. Problems not (just) in matchmaking but in respawn system + some maps just not balanced in initial respawn places of the both teams. You need to lose 1st rush attack and it’s 95% of whole game lose. Enemy team will just run between respawn places and rush all of you.
