If you pay attention to what was said during the reveal, this is all happening inside Savathûn's Throne World, in which we play by her rules. For all we know, the hive ghosts and them wielding light, is just the manifestation of her Throne World defining logic that otherwise doesn't exist outside it. She decides what truth is in her world. I don't think she stole the light, rather, she got close to us long enough to understand how it works so she could replicate it for herself to use to defend herself. She knows the only way to die is in her Throne World, so as long as she can defend that she's immortal

A major plot point of the Witch Queen expansion is figuring out how exactly Savathûn was able to manipulate the Light this way. Ghaul attempted to drain the Traveler directly, essentially forcing it to act while Savathûn’s scheme is far more insidious in nature. The truth shall be revealed in time.

We're removing her worm this season and there is guardians in like tubes in the trailer. My guess is svathicc is siphoning light and stealing/corupting ghosts to achieve the lucent hive. Also she probably decided to meet us in the dreaming city instead of The City specifically so she doesnt get lighy nuked like ghaul did

Ghaul isn't an elephant he is cabal

Ghaul used a machine to imprison and syphon the Light from the Traveler. He obtained the Light via illegitimate means, he was doomed from the start. That Savathun uses Ghosts indicates that she somehow is legitimately granted the Light. Instead of assuming that Light is Light no matter how you get it, we should be reflecting on our knowledge of the Light and asking how she will do obtain it. It’s very clear, visually, that there’s a difference between the Light of the Traveler and that raw, unrefined goo that Ghaul was reborn into

I mean, there are a couple of explanations that make some sense contextually. Ghaul obviously didn’t know exactly what he was doing when he tried to take the light, I mean he basically just put a chain on the Traveler and started sucking hoping it would work out. Savathûn is the Hive god of cunning and deceit and whatnot, so it’s likely she had this plan from the start. There are many points in hindsight that appear to suggest that she’s had this plan (or something similar) for a very long time: -The first time I can think of where we knowingly encountered Savathûn was on Io, the last location to be terraformed by the Traveler, and was still filled with its energy. I even remember one Adventure where Asher was trying to create [b]synthetic light[/b] in the hopes of [b]making new Guardians. [/b] That didn’t end up working, however in that location there was a scannable essentially repeating Savathun’s name over and over again. This experiment could possibly be the reason she decided to try to take the light in the first place, and gave her an idea of how to do it. Sure Asher failed, doing nothing more than temporarily enhancing our own light, but it may have been a starting point nonetheless. -This year she has had plenty of experience with the light, namely with Sagira since she’s definitely, probably, almost 100% certainly dead. It was also her forces that were stopping us from reaching the shard of the Traveller in the EDZ. Now sure, everybody in the game says “only the Traveler can give us the light, there is no other way”, and sure Ghaul’s attempt seemed to prove that, but how do we know for sure that’s the truth? Because the Traveler said so- wait… nvm it’s never actually spoken to us. Because the Speaker, who we now know was a little bit insane with his mask, said so? Because Ghaul, some beefy Cabal who just hooked up a fancy cord to the Traveler, failed? There is definitely something about the light that hasn’t been revealed to us, a truth that we’ll have to survive when Witch Queen launches. We learned that the darkness can be used as a tool without necessarily destroying or corrupting us, why would the light be any different? Tl;Dr Ghaul was -blam!- stupid and Savathun’s literal whole existence is being smart, if there is any villain that can successfully control the Light it wound be her. My running theories as to how she does it is that 1) She got her hands on some dead ghosts, used the power of necromancy from Nokris to resurrect them under their will, m 2) That she has enough of an understanding of the Light to just make them in her Throne World because… uhh… Throne World, or 3) that she managed to reverse engineer a ghost because she’s smart and -blam!- idk

Well if we recall what the speaker said, “devotion inspires bravery, bravery inspires sacrifice, sacrifice leads to death” maybe she does something this season that leads to the traveler to gifting them the light. The traveler hasn’t exactly been known for being the good guy so it prolly wouldn’t care who it gifts it too as long as it feels they’re worthy at that moment in time. I mean look at how humanity used it at first just sayin
