Bungie Let us choose the weapons we want to use for Champions stop telling us what we should use

Bungie sniper mod was excellent as it makes snipers relevant now in end game activities however i am restricted to use what you want me to use in the artifact please consider changing this for the future
Bungie Let us choose the weapons we want to use for Champions stop telling us what we should use
Since the split Bungie has been spending a lot of time designing the game to control how players play the game, promote Eververse and show numbers. That is like you asking Bungie to shut down Eververse, never going to happen. Wishful thinking is about as close as you will ever get to Bungie even noticing you exist, and even if by chance they saw this post? They would literally ( 🤣🤣🤣😂 ) at you.

They could have at least made current mods work against them. Armor piercing rounds -> Barrier champion High caliber rounds -> Unstoppable Explosive rounds -> Overload?

All they really need is something like: Overload primary Unstoppable special Barrier heavy Or something along those lines and they could swap out which weapon category vs whichever champions each season. This would also free up slots on the artifact for more variety/experimentation.

How can you even call them champions? They're just majors with immune phases. -Overloads regen while spamming teleport -Barriers pop an immune shield and regen -Unstoppables take less damage They're no different from any other ad. They just appear whenever Bungie feels like "challenging" you. Yeah. Soft locks on our loadout. Really, so difficult. They might as well not have champions at all if they don't even want to make the hard to be enemies.

          • I see your point and I agree that sniper anti-barrier mod was fantastic. However, if Bungie did not change our champions mods each season the GM meta would become extremely stale and monotone after a couple of seasons since everybody would use the same weapons every single time. This has 2 downsides: 1. People will quickly become bored of the game since the same loadout won't change how you play during your GM in any way. This will lead to players feeling bored and complaining to bungie to fundamentally change the way GM works, which is something much more difficult to achieve than just varying our gameplay with different loadouts. 2. You wouldnt feel the need to grind for or keep any god rolls you get of other weapon archetypes outside of the meta. This means that players will generally play the game less and also get bored of it once again since you dont have something to chase for. Which is basically the core of Destiny: getting that sweet, sweet LOOT. I personally hate using the same weapons with the same mods every single strike/raid I do over seasons (shit, one season meta is enough to get stale at the end for me). It makes the experience all too similiar and if I then switch to an "off-meta weapon", I get the feeling that I'm intentionally making it more difficult for me to play than what it has to be just for the sake of variation.

            • Totally agree. And the solution is so simple: make the mods weapon mods, so I can place that anti-barrier mod in whatever weapon I want to.

                • I would just prefer a bit more options or combination mods (like anti barrier autor and scout in same mod). But not ”whatever” approach.

                • Yeah I'm sorry, but these are the worst mods I can remember using for a long time. It makes PvE unenjoyable for me. I get that it is "possible" and people are clearing the higher end content. Congrats to them. The loadouts make zero sense and all the grinding you did for that really cool special weapon make it useless outside of normal strikes and PvP. To anyone who supports this system, I ask that you reconsider and help us change it. I honestly don't think this should continue for another day. But I think we all understand that Bungie is incapable of making any changes which genuinely benefit the community on short notice. So I anticipate this will last the entire season. Which for me, means GM's and lost sectors are dead. I am not dancing around with two primaries in some of the most challenging content in the game. That is absolutely ridiculous. Think about the loadout possibilities if we just simply got to use whatever mods we wanted. A shakeup of the meta is desperately needed for Destiny right now. You cannot deny that. The first column mods for the artifact are the most boring changes I have seen in a while. Lets change it.

                • The best champion mod they did was the anti Barrier ranger mod. That should of been the model for future artifact mods but noooooo, bungie decided it made the game unfun. 🤨🤨😕

                • ya know after what im about to say, yall can blame it on me if it actually happens Im surprised how bungie hasnt had an EA level of scumminess and give you the option of buying the new exotics like I was farming the Veles Labyrinth legendary at 1310 and as soon as you start to go in the sector proper you get a Barrier Hive knight charging you with no cover available, as he unloads that hive boomer on you with a Arc dmg ++ multiplayer, while having non stop spawning trawls behind me, no to mention the explody variety that the games decides theyll just ignore all the dmg and do everything in their power to go kamikaze on you the Champion system needs to be developed, at first I got the idea of depending on the artifact cuz it was a new thing, but now ? make the Barrier, Overload and Unstoppable be a core part of the game, like I dunno, unstopable primary, solar and so one I get that they added new exotics, but does anyone really use Athrys's Embrace ? dont get me wrong Im sure it has its uses, but If im running legend lost sectors and need to use the bottom three gunslinger, im sorry but Im going NightHawk to oneshot a champion and get 30% of my supper back, and with a bit of luck get a few adds in the explosion at least make more exotic guns with these perks, not all cuz I have a hard time justifying Bad Juju having such thing, but if things like Arianas Vow which its gimmic is a hand canon that fires really big and thic bullets, why doesnt Sleeper get to bust out barriers too ? weve seen during warmind on mars the levels of power Seraph tech does

                • Yeah, I'm not really a fan of the system as it is now. It was great in Y2 when Bungie walked back the whole dual primary thing from Y1 but it just feels like the champions system is pushing me back into dual primary anyway a lot of the time.

Control. That's the new end-game content. They don't have any new ones, so they control the guns instead and make you run around with guns they want you to use. I could think of 2 things why. First, they are now in control of their famous "Low-usage" excuse everytime they manipulate things around. With this system, that will help them, not you, manage this issue of favoritism and powercreep. Second, they want to control powercreep. Why?...Because powercreep sells. It's easy to control power this way now. And they can sell power easily when they can control when you're gonna use certain guns based on this system. They want to have control over how you use power. Because Powercreep sells. Always! 😂😂😂 Logic!

Simply just mods for champions equipped would be enough. They should not be tied to specific weapons. It completely ruins the fun to enjoy doing endgame with weapons you don't like. Opinions may vary but my reason for playing is fun and recreational.

Feels that somewhere at some point bungo adapted this entire design philosophy of "what makes a game entertaining" and built everything around it. Just that from a player perspective that philosophy is completely wrong and upside down. Artifact and champion system should offer us more tools to approach content to encourage creativity in build-crafting - not limit and force us to figure out and use extremely specific approaches pre-designed by the developer and make each season like carefully solving a puzzle of how bungo wants us to play this time, instead of playing how we want. It's like the system has become a sandbox for the developer to see what kind of combination they can design this time because they find it interesting, instead of the developer designing things for player entertainment.

                        • I'm just ready for champions to go away. Need a new mechanic. I think champions and champion mods were a good thing......for a season or two. Beyond that we should have been able to use whatever weapons we want or introduce something other than throwing champions in everything. Hopefully witch queen will do away with champions and add something unique that doesnt limit loadouts.

                          • I don't necessarily disagree, but I think that would make it a bit too simple allowing for something like Unstoppable rocket launchers for example. In my opinion, certain architypes should always have the same champion mod attached. That way we can build things the ways we want to but they still control what we use. This also ties into the idea being thrown around of [nearly] all Exotics having champion mods built in. I.e. If you want Anti-Barrier sniper, you use Honed Edge on the Izinagi. If you want Overload Machine Gun, use the Thunderlord. Stuff like that. Doing the system this way allows us to build something around the mods that work for us, as well as account for an Exotic with built in Champion mods.

                          • The issue here is that the champion system doesn't really make the game better. All it does is pigeon hole us into using certain weapon types that we may not even like. Half the fun in games like this is deciding these things for yourself and crafting your own approach to encounters. Each weapon archetype should be rewarding in its own right; they shouldn't have to be forced on the community in order to see some healthy usage.
