The content is not gone. They unlocked all the lore surrounding those expansions.
The issue is you don't get to play the content. This happened because they had to cancel Destiny 3. They cancelled because of covid costs.
Instead, your going to get two more years of the same engine which means content will be brought out of DCV when it is relevant again. Saving all of the content and redirecting what is essential for characters to the active content we have.
I fail to see how understanding content from other expansions (read: Any of them) when you are involved with a current expansion now. We literally have one more week of Chosen season and then we get to the new season. Best get ready for that.

So, how much does Bungie pay these days...
-
Because evryone that disagrees must be someone bungie is paying.

Editado por xbroggiex: 5/3/2021 11:45:31 AMD3 was not cancelled because of Covid. It was cancelled the minute they split with Activision which was way before they even publicly announced it. The Activison deal was that they had to release multiple games... look back at Bungie's older vidocs and you can see even then they had a vision for a single evolving world then.
It was canceled the minute they split with Activision which was way before they even publicly announced it.
Theoretical at best. Anything else to add?
-
Your original post is also...
Theoretical at best.
Mine is at least backed up with something like the older vidocs.
-
Your theory is not supported. Deej was speaking about future plans and goals. The official statement came during the pandemic when losses were being reported. If you want to take a video as a source go ahead, but all that is public pr. Theorize all you want, but deductive reasoning points at covid as the primary suspect.

They literally announced a massive studio expansion and increase in hiring during the pandemic.

Editado por PhNx Hellfire: 5/3/2021 2:35:15 AMThey announced that this year in February. With the vaccine. And yes, they are budgeting themselves to do it. Whenever you hear the word? Budget? That is a projection. They have a steady flow of cash to spend and the PROJECTION is to remain steady. Announcements like that? Mean the company is above 60% cost on a given estimate. What if the estimate is wrong? What if the building code is changed? What if tax season kicks them in the groin? These are all factors they need to figure out. Now. That expansion? Might not happen and yet it might happen. This means if the expansion will cost XXXX workers active at any given time at $XX per hour working on the construction teams (probably higher since it is Washington state) for... let's say one year? That means the company has the project estimate 60% tallied up (figure two-quarters of microtransaction and season pass profits dedicated that that mind you) and probably going with a pay-as-you-complete-milestone payment structure? That means they are putting aside XXk a month and will be putting leftover amounts in the coffers for anything else. Will probably get tax relief too depending on their tax code for the expansion. So yes, considering we are now in May? That means they are probably pulling their profits from December 2020 forward with a projection to maintain whatever they are making last month. Which means they are banking on people buying content between now and the end of the year to fund that project. Welcome to finance.

"had to cancel Destiny 3" ... when was Destiny 3 even a thing? waaaaay back when bungie and activision where together, there was a plan for D3 before ANYTHING destiny came out, and then those plans changed forever ago, LONG before covid was a thing. to date, bungie has never even HINTED at a D3, so can people just stop with the "destiny 3 got canceled/delayed/hiatus/cut/etc"?
-
Actually Destiny 3 was always on the table when Activision still had something to say. But if i recall correctly they mentioned around the release of Shadowkeep that they didn't want to divide players again by making a new Destiny. So instead they decided to continue updating Destiny for years and years to come. But personally I'm not so sure if this was the right idea.
-
right, and shadowkeep was pre-covid, right?
-
It was. Everybody knows this.

Editado por PhNx Hellfire: 5/3/2021 2:03:48 AM
when was Destiny 3 even a thing?
Up until June of 2020.
waaaaay back when bungie and activision where together
You think February and June are near one another? Covid started December of 2019. It was because of covid D3 was canceled. You are trying to say there was talk of focusing on seasons and whatnot? Sure. But D3 was only ruled out during covid when losses were coming in and they stated they SCRAPPED the project.
LONG before covid was a thing.
Completely false. Look up the facts.
to date, bungie has never even HINTED at a D3
To date, the community asked and it was answered. Multiple times. Starting in 2019. Are you trying to point out it has NEVER been discussed or something?
-
what "facts"? D3 was NEVER announced, and was only mentioned in a LEAK of the original 10 year plan. bungie said that they didnt want to make another sequel and instead just perpetually update D2 LONG before covid. theres a difference between talks about and leaks, and a formal announcement. the significance is that if it wasnt a formal announcement, then its no different than a rumor, EVEN IF it was mentioned by someone who works there. therefore, ever since bungie made the formal announcement of "we're just gonna update D2 forever", then ANY talk of D3 is bs and unfounded, until bungie formally announces D3. additionally, it could never have been "canceled" or "deleyed" etc for the above reasons.

COVID costs? Hahahahaha hahahahaha!!! You do know they made more money off covid then they would of without it right? If you can prove me wrong I’d like to see it, covid costs pfff, where did you hear this anyways lol
-
You do know they made more money off covid than they would of without it right?
Financial earnings, stock market losses, and public records tell me they earned losses kiddo. Please don't try and say something because it's a popular opinion to do so. You will find facts are all over the place to tell you where you are correct and incorrect. You just need to read them.
-
What about you? You seem to be missing the point, they HAVE made more money off covid “kiddo”, hey get me those ledgers and facts your talking about, I want to read them, Because I don’t see anything that points to destiny as a franchise not pulling money off of microtrasations and season passes as many people on lock down increased player count and sales, I know first hand Becuase I did myself. So get me those ledgers and documents “Kiddo”

You seem to be missing the point, they HAVE made more money off covid “kiddo”, hey get me those ledgers and facts your talking about
Let me get this straight... you think that because they went remote... and managed things differently... and were told to cut losses by financial staff... and then made money off of silver purchases alone... that they also got bailed out for PPE material by the feds... that they made a profit? What school/country did you learn math in? Because you clearly have zero clue that if X is TOTAL profit, and Y is expenses, and Y is reported to be higher than X which is how they qualified for reimbursement (reported the losses to the feds) and the other 1400+ restaurants, video game developers, etc. went under BECAUSE of covid losses... you do realize that is a net loss right? If EVERYONE... EVERYWHERE... paid for X amount... and it's a NET LOSS... that is a LOSS...
Because I don’t see anything that points to destiny as a franchise not pulling money off of microtrasations and season passes as many people on lock down increased player count and sales
You can't spell the words correctly. You can't do math on the grounds of what the federal guidelines were for businesses and the second PPE package meant specifically for businesses and you think that micro and season passes count was high enough for their various expenses?
-
Regardless whether or not you're right about Bungie taking losses is irrelevant. The idea for Destiny 3 was off the table after their split with Activision which was months and months before Covid. So in no way is Covid related to choice of not making Destiny 3.
