Cobalt walks through SAYU, towards Fie.
“I... can’t apologize enough. I shouldn’t have ran, it was foolish of me.”
English
-
Only halfway through your sentence SAYU reappeared next to you with a loud “Hi!”, causing Fie to jump, and the other woman to grab the bridge of her nose. “You can’t just ignore that thing.” The other woman said, as SAYU began explaining how the stock is underground again. “If you don’t respond to it, it’s going to keep following you around.”
-
“I’m going to shoot that infernal thing one of these days.” Cobalt turns his head towards SAYU. “I’m doing fine, thank you. Fie, how about we step outside so we can actually talk?”
-
“Okay! If you need anything just say ‘SAYU’!” SAYU made a heart with her hands, before disappearing. “She should leave you alone now unless you call her.” Fie said. “What were you saying?”
Well I did try to tell you. :p
-
“I’m sorry for running. I- I haven’t been good at talking about emotions. I don’t know how to express how I was feeling when Theta’s PTSD triggered, so I ran.”
-
Fie paused for a moment. “It’s.. Okay. I understand..” She eventually said, looking down at the ground. “You were scared. I was scared, too. If Lambda wasn’t there, I don’t know what I-“ “It’s not okay.” The other woman interrupted. “Imagine if we were anywhere else in the world. You would have left my sisters behind, scared, and alone, falling apart, with no idea what to do, or where to go. You’ll need a bit more than an apology to make up for that.” “Rho, it’s okay—it’s not his fault..” Fie said.
-
“No, Rho is right. Imagine if we were topside when that happened. I abandoned you, left you alone and defenseless.” Cobalt puts his hand on his helmet’s visor. “God, and I hate when people abandon me! I’m such a hypocrite!” Cobalt calms down a bit, and puts his hand on Fie’s shoulder. “Honestly, I don’t blame you if you want to find a different person to head upwards with. I’d prefer if you did.”
-
“Hmph.” Rho scoffed. “At least you realize how terrible you are. Saves me the trouble explaining.” “Knock it off, both of you!” Fie yelled, standing up. SAYU appeared next to her shortly thereafter. “Please no yelling in the store!” She said happily. “Sorry, SAYU.” Fie said. The hologram let out a short giggle, and then disappeared. “Look, everyone makes mistakes, okay?” Fie continued. “Yes, if we were on the surface things would have been worse, but we’re not on the surface. Everything, and everyone is okay, and that’s what’s important. You know you did something wrong. You apologized, and you sound like you want to make yourself better. Everyone is okay, so you don’t need to obsess over how much worse it could have been. All that matters is what you can learn from your mistakes, so you can stop them from happening again, right?”
-
Cobalt nods, silently. He’s a bit surprised at the outburst.
-
Sorry. I was too sleepy this morning to put any thought into an actual response, and then I had work. :p
There was a moment of silence after neither of you responded, and then Fie’s face turned bright red. She sank back into her seat, and then spoke quieter. “It’s just.. This whole city, it’s here so we can learn to coexist, right? At least, that’s what Aifos said. How are we supposed to learn to coexist when we all just keep focusing on everything that pushes us apart?”
-
“Then... let’s work on coexisting. If we’re going to focus on the bad, we’ll be doomed before we start, so let’s focus on the positives!”
-
“Tsch.” Rho scoffed. “So you’re just going to ignore everything bad that happens, and pretend everything is okay? Don’t tell me you’re actually expecting that to work.”
-
“We’ll work through the bad, together. We just won’t make it our major focus. Fix it, and move on.”
-
“You two are just as naive as Xi.” Rho said. “All this trust, and goodwill, it’s just going to leave you open to getting stabbed in the back.”
-
“Maybe. But it won’t be the first time I’ve been stabbed in the back.”
-
Rho gave you a confused stare. “What does that have to do with anything..?” She asked.
-
“Nothing. Don’t worry about it.” Cobalt takes his hand off Fie’s shoulder. He gives some sort of glare towards Rho. “I’ve been through some crap.”
-
“So what? We all have—don’t expect any easy sympathy from me.” Rho said, folding her arms. “If anything, all I’m hearing here is you’re all talk. Sure, you say you’ll work through this together, but you’ve already been through hell & back, and you’re still running away the second a girl starts breaking down on you.” “Rho knock it off!” Fie said. “He’s trying his best, give him a chance!” Rho scoffed.
-
“I- am not the best at talking to others. Believe me, I’m working on this as best as I can, or as well as I know how to.”
-
“Your best doesn’t seem to be turning out that well so-“ Rho began to say, but she was stopped by Fie. “I know you don’t trust anyone here, and you’re still upset about what happened to Xi.. But, could you try being nice to him? For me? He’s my friend.” “Fine.” Rho said. “But only for you.” She turned to you. “But for the record, I don’t like you.”
-
“I love you too, honey.” Cobalt spits the words out, a healthy mixture of sarcasm and spite. “I’m not the best at talking. It’s one of my... not so strong suits. Anything combat related, and I should do fine.”
-
“Right, because that’s what a couple of war-scarred combat androids need to adjust to life on the surface,” Rho said sarcastically. “Another war machine.”
-
“Maybe you don’t need me, no. I’m certain there’s a better person out there who can adopt you and help you adjust.” Cobalt rolls his shoulders, and adjusts his vest. “But I’ve been in Offtopic for a while now. I know the place, and the people. Some nanny won’t have that kind of knowledge.”
-
“Do whatever you want—what do I care?” Rho said. “You’d just better hope nothing happens to my sisters while you’re up there. Otherwise you’ll regret it.”
-
“Last time someone I cared about died, I didn’t stop thinking about it for half a dozen years, and eventually killed against everyone who had assassinated her, or planned it.”
-
“Maybe I’m not making myself clear.” Rho said. “It better not come to that, or you’ll be on that list of people killed, too.” “Okay!” Fie interrupted. “Things are getting a little grim, how about we change the subject?”
