Player pool is too low for and MM to work correctly. Maybe Bungie should have removed the fun for the average player and they'd still be here. Now the high level players are complaining that cbmm is acting like sbmm. Lol they'll never learn.

  • Just looked at the steam charts today. The last year plus has been devastating for the game numbers. Little question as to the leadership of the game changing when you look at that.

  • The past year should have been good for gaming with people being home more. But when your game has nothing to offer the average gamer, the largest pop, and little reward for the high end gamer this is where it leads. High end players preying on the average game driving both demographics away.

Can you do me a favor and use your eagle eye to tell everyone when they go back up? If you don't mind me asking, what numbers do you look at and where were they a year ago to where this should be considered an awe inspiring plummet?

  • Go look at the steam charts for Destiny 2. No magic to it at all. the Game has done nothing but TANKED for player numbers since 2019.

  • People and their player numbers. The numbers go up and down. If they'd done nothing but tanked in one direction they would be negative at this point. Plus that's not what's really important. What's important is that PvP becomes a priceless article. And what Bungie is doing seems to be taking it in that direction. The people who keep linking the player numbers to how they personally feel about the game would probably do better to just ask for a casual mode to be added instead of getting hung up on lettering.

  • You are correct. The numbers posted and the fact that the game has lost 2/3 of it's player numbers according to steam is what makes it a fact. But we live in a world where perception is reality so you go on doing you partner.

God, "perception is reality" right off the internet like you made that up all by yourself. Wonder how much insurance that dude has sold at this point? Is steam the only platform? Have you noticed and applied relevant trends in terms of the plummeting and summiting of the player pop? When did the platform with the least players on it and the most cheating start determining what's happening with the entire player population?

  • How do you know the player pool is too small? The queque times are pretty fast when set to worldwide. I don't think it would take much longer to have a game lobby from at the least a continent based lobby. People love to say the player pool is small but you never wait 5 minutes for a game like something like Overwatch. Like if there are 2 players from every continent on a team in a game. Would you wait 3 times as long to get a better game connection wise? I think you would. I don't even think that there are 2 players from each continent in a game. There are probably 4 local and 2 not local or even 5 local and 1 non. All it takes if for that 1 non local to be there and it messes up the game.

  • Because I've been paying attention to the population of pvp for over a year. The numbers are terrible and going down.

  • Yeah but the queque times aren't long. Not at all. So they could easily afford to put a toggle in. Or a system that switches over to worldwide after a 5 minute wait or something.

  • Destiny PvP was ALWAYS like this, so it has nothing to do with population.

  • It's Destiny, it kinda just sucks to begin with. Everyone uses the same crap in a environment that allows you to bring whatever you want. Special weapons run rampant as if it's a party game. Shotguns are literally playing One in the Chamber from Cod, except they have two shots and get at least two back a kill. Map Design is questionable Control is the leading mode over raw TDM (Objectives are already a competitive category higher than Skirmishes). Lots of people are bad at objective based modes and don't know the ins and outs to success ( holding the right 2 pts in Control is more guaranteeing of victory than anything else, spawns and map design will do the rest for you, as such, mercies are easy if you manage this simple method) Weapon archetypes fail to even carry a semblance of overall balance between them all (can't be that impossible as it seems) Combined with semi-cheese abilities in general, this can easily sway people away. Worsened by Stasis and the strange idea that allowing players to freeze each other on the regular was acceptable. Incentive outside loot that is one and done, bounties that can reach high on the annoying scale, and playlist specific drops is basically non-existent. There's plenty of reasons to stay away. Doesn't matter who you are. I'm sure stuff like this rings out more to people than Matchmaking's search priority. ESPECIALLY those who are there to just get in and get out.

  • Many of the things you mention, were wanted by the players. So many complained about the dual primary system in the beginning because they WANTED to be able to one shot kill people, Bungie for some reason, gave them what they wanted. Everyone uses the same thing, because its the only way to compete. But, in doing so, pretty much play like in Halo where you could only use certain weapons in PVP. Players do not want balance, if they did, D2Y1 would have appealed to them. It was the most balanced PVP has ever been. There was a meta, but if you got good with just about any weapon, you could easily compete against the meta. Players, want an advantage. Be that a broken weapon, broken ability, or even being good at specific weapons like shotguns and snipers.

Bungie is still responsible for execution, and special ammo dropping off people's bodies, even if they have none, was a kick of a snowball down a hill.
like in Halo where you could only use certain weapons in PVP.
Halo doesn't really work because weapons are map and mode defined, plus most things work in the right situations if you can make em. Vanilla D2 was less about balance and more increased TTK that everyone hated, such that they began holding hands to get places in fights. Just because the game is never going to appear balanced due to just it's nature, it doesn't mean there can't even be a semblance of it where it would really help. Lighter shotguns and fusions pretty much hold no weight agasint there heavier counter parts and it boils down to them being far less capable of doing the same exact thing in the same situation. a light shotgun cannot fight a heavier one because that first important shot is already unbalanced. Quickdraw pretty much breaks the handling stat completely and doesn't belong on something made to carry more weight. It's little questions they don't ask themselves about "how is this right?" and how could we level it out? There's no experimenting going on, there's no sense they're trying. I mean Stasis just shouldn't be freezing people lest it were a super that needed it.
