Hunter stasis melee hits for 90 dmg now?

Can a member of the bungie sandbox team explain the rationale for this balancing decision. I don't understand why an ability that tracks, bounces, has range and requires no commitment to cast plus has very strong cc effect, is also given similar damage to any normal melee. Maybe damage fall off should be put on all ranged melees or at the minimum require aiming not a bounce track around corners. Imo if it is designed to be used in a duel remove bounce tracking . If you hit the melee like a throwing knife you will win the gun fight. Or If you want it to be utility, less damage with the tracking so it can't be used as a long range kill secure. We saw how fun ricochet hardlight was. Appreciate all the conversation, can a dev weigh in on this? Want to actually have a idea of how you feel abilities fit into the sandbox.
