Skill up made an excellent review of Destiny at its current state. Yes, he loves the game, but not BL/Season of the Hunt. It was all the catching up he had for over a year to do, not the new stuff. Destiny is trying to be this wierd amalgimation of a F2P phone like game where you have to keep players attention every week to keep us playing. This doesn't work for a console/PC game. We need quality updates and content that drips with depth. A 3 month content cycle isn't working like it did when you had other devs like Vicarious Visions helping you make decent/great content to help build up the end game.
Skill Up brought up FFXIV and how Yoshi-P the lead said "We want you to play other games in the downtime. Come back when there is new content to enjoy". Bungie, this philosophy is what Destiny needs. Let us take a break from the game while you make great new content. Maybe add an exotic quest here and there but stop it with this seasonal crap that is just not good anymore. Hunt stunk up a high heaven and honestly all it needed was Hawkmoon addition for it to be a welcomed update to BL.
We need Foresaken/Taken King sized expansions. Beyond Light/Shadowkeep isn't cutting it for a yearly wait expansion for $40. The value isn't there.
-
I'd rather wait a few months for actual good content over every 3 months mediocore at best content and constant grind for no real reason.

1 RespuestaIt’s just straight trash. The story telling has lost its magic. I feel so disconnected from the story cause they draw it out so long that I don’t even care about this caiatal nonsense villain.

That review is one of the few pieces of Destiny-related content that I've been able to stomach from SkillUp in a long time. For once it wasn't unreasonably negative, and he made the distinction that Bad Season ==/== Seasonal format is bad. The nice thing, too, is that his not having played the game for a year gave him a fresh take on the game that is not inside this anti-Sunsetting hothouse that has dominated social media. So he was free to see the improvements that the game has been making over time and not just the frustrations of the moment. Lastly, the game is becoming what Bungie said they wanted it to become. A blend of action game, action-RPG, and MMO. That kind of game can---and does---work on console. The success of loot games like Borderlands and Diablo...and the success of MMOs like ESO, FFXIV, and Black Desert Online show that there is a market for that kind of game. (Never mind the million players a day who kept showing up religiously to play every day despite all the social media doom-and-gloom this season.) The bottom line is that you simply prefer what I call a "binge-and-then-leave" play style. But the reality is that it is simply your preference. It is not the kind of game that Bungie wants to make....and it is not the kind of experience that the majority of the player base wants Back during the DLC days, this place was CONSTANTLY ablaze with complaints about the DLCs being too small and not worth the money. That there was not enough to do in the game....and that players were bored. The reality is that one game cannot satisfy everyone....and if you want to play this game in a binge-and-then leave fashion, you are free to do so. LEAVE THE GAME AND COME BACK IN 6 MONTHS. By then you'll have two seasons worth of accumulated content....and you can binge on it....and then leave. Then comeback in another six months. While the rest of us have a steady stream of things to do each week.

5 RespuestasI don't quite follow. Why exactly is it hard for you to step away and play something else? I am actually an avid FFXIV player and currently I'm playing that over destiny. But, I'll occasionally switch back to destiny if I feel like playing that. Every time I see these type of posts it begs me to wonder why exactly do people find it hard to play what they want? You all are free thinking people. If it's addiction, then that is a very serious thing. If it's you complaining while playing it, then that's your own damn fault. If you don't want to play it, don't play it. If you don't want to pay for it, don't pay for it. It really isn't that hard.

100% rather have old system of content.

3 RespuestasAll Im hearing is, "Im an idiot who doesnt understand how without a seasonal model, the content droughts kick in and more idiots whine and complain." But hey, whats different? You all find something of insignificance to complain about... Bunch of Troglodytes
-
Then the same people who hate it will complain about the droughts

2 RespuestasI think season of the chosen is shaping up to be a decent season. We've got all the ingredients, just got to see how it plays out with the content. I know Season of the Hunt wasn't anything spectacular but the season released with the yearly update is anything ever huge. Take season of undying, that was essentially a multistage ad clearing activity with a boss fight at the end for literally 4 guns. I'm glad that they don't focus all their efforts into a season released with a year update. I'd rather that released a smaller season with the yearly update and then focus on the 2 or 3 seasons after. That's just my opinion and you're allowed to disagree with me.

Can't agree more. I open this trash story and was like wtf is happening? Who is that? Why are they there? The cabal want to talk to us??????? Immediately we know how to thwart all their plans in the first random mission got thrown into.

7 RespuestasNothing personal, but who really gives a shit about streamers other than their followers that buy into everything they say that should learn to speak for themselves. Not saying you don't but it's annoying that people use them knowing if they have actually done their own research and took a little time and effort for themselves they would be surprised what they could come up with. Streamers have been just as much of an issue with this game as Bunny has been, but the difference between us and the streamers? we literally don't ever have a say in anything in this game. Yet because they give Bunny free advertisement people like Datto that not everyone agrees with let alone watches anything he produces have been favored over the entire player base. Luke Smith proved that and uses him to justify his own words, saying he is unsure of himself and that isn't a good thing at all. Anyone can see that quantity hasn't done jack shit for the game and the planets/moons they removed are a prime example of that on how empty they actually were. The thing is they are bringing back D1 content that is exactly the same as the planets/moons they removed, like the cosmodrome that was literally a waste of resources they brought back half-assed. Removing one empty thing and replace it with another is what this company is all about and that is because the quality content that was being created left with Activision.

Editado por NPC Titan: 2/9/2021 4:02:34 PMApparently you didn't read patch notes. Bungie is aware of this That's why they are altering the bounty system entirely Also You can't compare a game which has f2p limits with a monthly subscription (with a dlc every 2 years) to one that has a quarterly content/sandbox update with a DLC every year. The business models are completely different. That being said...I understand your frustration. I'm positive Bungie is at least exploring options outside of the seasonal model rn to see what is the most beneficial for the game to stay afloat and keep running.

52 RespuestasEditado por Wolfgang: 2/9/2021 3:39:40 PMYoshi-p? The same guy who made it so if you stop paying your sub for a month they delete your house and everything inside of it? Literally ,,, if you don't pay us we will delete all of your stuff... 'We want you to play other games, but if you stop paying your monthly sub we will delete 5 years worth of collectible items and completely demolish your house... No worries if you go play other games though...' 🤑🤑🤑 FfXiV is the Most Predatory game model in existence... The gameplay loop is dreadfully boring and is propped up entirely by gaming addiction, a financial burden of commitment and a tremendous fear of loss... At least use an honest company and a good game in comparison to Bungie and Destiny... FFXiV and Square Enix have just become... Despicable Please Bungie... Never become anything even slightly resembling Square Enix and Yoshi... that stuff is just toxic... Edit::: Link to Square Enix Page. And typo https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/topics/detail/424658bcd52a5737194a4088eb3e7ccabefa9954 Unsub for 3 months and we will permanently delete your house and everything inside of it ... You have to pay them at least 72$ a year just to keep your house, you're not even getting new content... you have to pay 40-60$ if you want the expansion, plus the monthly sub if you want to play the new content... Square Enix is Terrible

6 RespuestasIt's not the seasonal model that is the issue. Like with all things that are amiss with Destiny, it comes down to the execution. Bungie NEVER conveys to the player WHY they should be spending their time in a particular activity, or hunting a particular items, or participating in a particular event. They never make the ROI for these things actually worth the time spent doing them. WHY should I go after the new weapons on Europa? WHY should I do the Empire/Wrathborn/Exo Challenge activities? WHY should I spend doing the endgame content? What's in it for me? Challenge? Fun? Loot? We can get all of those things just running around aimlessly. WHY should we put TIME into these other things? More often than not the activities in Destiny feel like a waste of time. The question is why? The answer? Progression. Destiny has always had a terrible system of player progression. Nothing ever actually FEELS like progress. Just random checkpoints. Something to get through as fast as possible. There is nothing compelling a player to engage with the content. To get into the story. To go after something specific. It's always just a checklist of "new" shit to acquire for the sake of acquiring "new" shit. That has been Bungies MO regardless of seasonal or long for DLC. They are always pushing you onto the "next" thing.

11 RespuestasSo you know what's interesting, do you remember what content was dropped at this time 5 years ago when we got TTK? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. After 3 months of TTK, there was nothing to do until the Taken Spring (better known as the April Update) which offered significantly less content than a D2 season, then we had to wait another 5 months for a new DLC for any new content. I agree with having Quality content being released, but I am way happier now than I was during those content droughts. People seem to forget that when talking about the nostalgia of TTK.

Even if they get rid of it you’ll still find a way to complain

Editado por Drew5150: 2/10/2021 2:42:58 AMUhm.... bungie used to say that. People screamed lack of content louder.

7 RespuestasHow about we all just agree this game is an empty shell. Activision left and Bungie can’t make the game. Bungie is an indie studio at this point. Triple A studios make Triple A games not indie studios. The only thing Bungie about Bungie is the name. They need to sell off Destiny it’s too much for them to handle Seasonal model and only a seasonal model is not going keep this game going. Beyond light brought much needed life support to the game but what they took away in the process all but killed it. Who would have thought with all those “Destiny killers” out there what’s actually the killer is it’s creator. Just slowly poisoning it over time
-
1 RespuestaThat added nothing F you guys. Activision was giving you guys an open check book now you work with scraps. Another -blam!-ing variks like stupid grind. F this.. all you -blam!- fan boys can keep this season

2 RespuestasI agree with your sentiments. The season pass model doesn't work and are only servicing Bungie by lining their pockets every season with the added requirement to have paid for the next season for a game I and many have already paid over $100 for! Despite that, I gave it a chance with the hopes that things will evolve into something more than Destiny - The Fetch Quest, but season after season it's the same garbage and the same spin from the developers. Enough is enough! You can't keep pissing on people and call it rain!
-
But like skill mentions in the video several times. Luke Smith - "you will never see a forsaken size expansion again" And bungie are working on one if not two brand new games. Yet here we all are paying for the seasonal model.... This is it unfortunately, as bad as it is😭
-
I couldn't have said it better I was keeping up with it and I'm just pissed at this point I can't play this game going to come back later bungo pls fix also un-sunset my old fashion

2 RespuestasIt’s FOMO...from the players. I watched that video, and I like skillup. But the problem with any game that has this type of model, or any game that has constant updates be it pvp or pve or both, is that people feel like they need to catch up or they are missing out. It’s just like any other product. I played destiny 1 nearly exclusively. Rise of iron was he last time I was ever max level, and only on one char. Destiny 2 came out and I played everything it had at first, and decided to start treating it like other games, rather him than it dictate to me how I need to play. I’m only missing out if I think of it that way. Now I watch youtube to catch up if I’ve skipped seasons - and I have, several of them. The player is the one putting themselves in that position. Not the game. The game is not dictating how you play. You’re choosing to participate, and are choosing to feel like you’ll miss out. It’s actually been quite a freeing experience for me, and honestly didn’t realize how much destiny 1 had a hold of me. I don’t need every exotics. D1 i did. I don’t need to be max level. D 1 I did. I don’t need to achieve everything there is to do. In d1, I did. But it sucked a lot out of me I didn’t realize til I just stopped playing so much. Just a thought. Also, to boot, I’ve been buying older games on sale during black Friday’s and summer sales, and I’ve been having an awesome time catching up on the other games I did miss out on. And still have quite a back log. It’s all perspective. Don’t let a game dictate how you spend your time. You’re not missing out. You were doing something else worth your time (hopefully). And you’re participating anytime you play. Game models like this develop because of the consumer. Don’t let them own you.

2 Respuestasehem... $80 update... since apparently you MUST buy the 1000 Silver SEASON upgrade each season, if you want full access. what a crock.
-
how do we get to 1300 without using pinnacles? i only see some powerful rewards. what a waste of time. please stop increasing the level. add new content rather than sunset our stuff and make us re grind the same thing

Editado por Oryx's Slimy Worm: 2/9/2021 8:15:08 PMI do enjoy the seasonal content, I just wish it wasnt seasonal, like I wish Menagerie, Forges, etc. were still in the game. Plus if it gives them more time to create an expansion like Forsaken again, then I'm all for it.
