Everything should have matchmaking. Just make it optional and move on.
There is no valid reason to be against something that is completely optional.
Don't like it? Don't use it. Players will get matched with blueberries who suck? Not your concern.

A good post, I have felt this way for years. As you say optionality is the key. Expect a lot of adverse comment as this has been a polarising issue for years

Feeding elitism is the reason it's not available. OK, beyond that the knuckle draggers who are already ignoring loadouts for champion mods sure as hell aren't going to also worry about the additional modifiers. I personally would love more MM options, but the realist in me knows that the selfish people out there would ruin it for the rest of us.

Just make a toggle on/off for every single activity already. Wanna run a raid with 4 people and not have matchmaking add the additional 2? Toggle off.

Raids technically have matchmaking, but nobody uses it
