I have three gaming PCs and have been tracking this issue so perhaps I can provide comparisons. HWinfo64 is used to see if GPU and Direct X usage is correct (around 95%). An example of this issue is my 6800XT gets ~40% in tangled shore. Before Update 3.0.2 Zen2+Nvidia 1660 ti = Needed Shader Cache disabled in driver for correct performance. Visuals unaffected. Zen3+Nvidia 1080 = Needed Shader Cache disabled in driver for correct performance. Visuals unaffected. Zen3+AMD 6800XT= Shader Cache disabled via registry DID NOT HELP. cvar edit "force_enable_multi_threaded_render_submit" enabled does provide correct performance. However visuals are horrible. After Update 3.0.2 Zen2+Nvidia 1660 ti = Fixed Zen3+Nvidia 1080 = Fixed Zen3+AMD 6800XT= Shader Cache disabled via registry DID NOT HELP. cvar edit "force_enable_multi_threaded_render_submit" enabled does provide correct performance. However visuals are horrible. So it seems like the issue(s) you fixed in the patch 3.0.2 were the cause(s) for the Nvidia issues, however it does not seem to be the same cause(s) for the AMD issue(s)

  • Hi Very pleasant to read Pre patch Low frames 8-10 fps In better cases 30 fps After patch I7 4790k gtx 970 after many Erase Cvars Reinstall GeForce driver Deleting nvcache Turning off shader cache Reboot And so on ... Medium settings at the tower 30-32 fps Better fps in game 30-60 On loading screen to 90-110 It’s better but not crazy Still recommended settings from Bungie......

  • If I was you I would check your driver and game settings to make sure V-Sync or some other FPS limit is not in place. If that is not it, I would install HWinfo64 and run sensors only. Then after running in the background while you kill things in Tangled Shore for 5min tab out and see what is limiting you. The main things to check are: Max CPU/Thread usage (CPU bound?) GPU Core load / D3D usage (GPU bound?)

My experience has been the opposite. I was not having major issues on my 3900x +1080ti setup prior to Update 3.0.2, then with this newest patch I began experiencing horrible frame stuttering, which as someone who only plays crucible is very noticeable. My Framerate was always over 100, but visually would drop down to a slideshow anytime I was shooting or being shot at. After looking around for solutions I disabled and tried just about everything, keep in mind I already played on everything low for max framerate. I disabled shader cache and initially this seemed to work, but I just had it start happening again. I've done every fix at this point and nothing worked.

Not sure if this is why mine is working, but you can try: Turn shader cache off in driver and reboot. In Windows Disk Cleanup clear DirectX shader cache (may have to be done on each drive) Turn shader cache back on and reboot. This supposedly prevents the game from using shaders from old versions of the game, by forcing it to recreate the cache. I wanted to note the driver versions for the above testing as well: Zen2+Nvidia 1660 ti = 460.89 Zen3+Nvidia 1080 = 461.09 Zen3+AMD 6800XT = 20.12.2

  • At least nvidia users got a fix that's better than nothing, but I'm on AMD so guess I'm still waiting.
