Your characters with the Artifact are +1270. Why do you need to be 1280 when you can already access pretty much everything in the game at this point with negligible downsides? Heck, you've nearly got a full set of 1260 armour on your hunter. What's this post even supposed to be about then?

Full time job is not an excuse to fall behind in the game. If you have a family or other people that depend on you, then I guess that makes sense.

Since transmog is coming it basically removes any incentive to get armor. So how about a armor systems kinda like shadow of war where each set has a set perk Say I get a whole dreambane armor set it would give a special ability like all hive are highlighted or I can see better in the dark. The armor would still have stats like mobility and strength but masterworking a full set would enhance the perk A few more armor perk ideas Black armory armor: would buff black armory weapons (including exotics) but this would probably make jotun worse Full gambit set : has a change to drop extra motes Crucible set : getting a ability kill has a small change to return 25% of health this could honestly be replaced idk Vog set: vex kills can overload your weapon and the next shot will have the same effect as a warning cell Lw set : killing taken has a chance to open a blight sucking all nearby enemies into it destroying the blight will turn all sucked up enemies into orbs of power Dsc set : getting multiple fallen kills has a chance to make them attack themselves or others till one of them die by this effect( not meant to be a damaging effect just a effect to give the players time to reload or something) Gos set : killing vex has a change to drop a pool of radiolaria that can be changed depending on how many non crit kills you get before getting a crit kill ( 1 kill refills ammo 2 gives health 3 gives ability energy 4 refills ammo and heals 5 health ammo and energy) What do you think of this? You are 1277? That’s just fine, you can do GMs and anything you want. Turn your attention to character building, go do DSC and try some gms on lfg, you might like it.

The power grind in Destiny is one of the weakest and innately pointless grinds in any game. Just don't worry about it. The onw good aspect of the artifact is that you can completely sidestep the power grind by pinnacles. It's an useless number and once a new season hits your work to achieve the cap goes completely out of the window.

The Pinnacle Cap was introduced as a way to keep the most active players interested in the game, which was a fantastic QoL addition. Before Pinnacle levels, highly active players could easily hit max level within a week or two. After that point, there was no feeling of progression. Pinnacle levels extends the feeling of progression for those who are very active, not the casual player. The Artifact power level achieves the same goal, providing a continuous feeling of progression for all players. Also, you are doing the Pinnacle grind completely wrong if you actually are trying to get it done. Going through your game history, you have never completed Deep Stone Crypt, have only 1 Prophecy completion, only 4 Master Empire Hunt completions, and very little in terms of Nightfall completions. Doing the Pinnacles from Strikes, Crucible, and Gambit only give a +1 Pinnacle drop, which is not meant to be a primary source for leveling up. If you really want to get to the Pinnacle cap, you need to play Pinnacle activities. But really, you are already 1277 with Artifact power, no reason to go any higher than that if you are playing casually.

You'll realize within minutes when the new season starts, not making it to the Power Level cap didn't matter. Play if you're having fun. If not, take a break, or just do the new activities when they come up. Once you force yourself over the FOMO, it gets easy.

They need to go back to D2 y1 advancement. If I want to play 100 public events to level up. So be it. Pinnacle rewards is a dumb way to level up.
