The answer doesn’t change. This isn’t about examples. It’s that you aren’t willing to accept the principle that is at work. If you take pure water and cool it to 32 F/ 0 C.... it going to freeze. Now you can change that by dissolving salt into it. The salt delays freezing (freezing point depression) by interfering with water crystals forming. But if you continue to cool the salt water to 0 F...the salt water will freeze. Salt or no salt. You want to add salt to the water to prevent it from freezing, when the long term solution is to HEAT THE WATER. Sunsetting heats the water. But it requires taking power away from the player. You want to add salt to the water to break up the ice that was in the game two years ago, but don’t want to deal with the PLAYER PSYCHOLOGY (chasing after power) that is constantly driving down the temperature of the water. All you’ll do is delay when the water freezes. Because the player psychology can’t be changed. Running afoul of that psychology (no power to chase) nearly destroyed the game in vanilla D2.

 • There still is power to chase. That’s why the light level cap exists. You level select loot to up your game (literally and figuratively). That requires resources to be managed properly (I.E you have to choose what you take with you to the endgame).
Sorry, all out of salt.
• Which is why it delays the problem. The game will simply recreate the power creep problem somewhere else. You have to address the actual problem, and your proposal doesn’t do that. It’s why I was able to predict Bungie would fail on DAY ONE. Everything they tried for five years had the same effect as what your suggesting. The problem kept coming back...and the game became more and more unmanageable each time.
