Beyond Light Stuttering

I've been getting stutter about every 4-5 seconds in beyond light. It completely breaks immersion and it's unplayable for me. I have an RTX 3080 and a 144hz monitor and the game is running at a consistent 120+ fps. I set the in-game frame rate cap to 141. This isn't the result of a dropping frame rate. Also every other game I've played on my PC has 0 stutter. Please help me fix this. Destiny is one of my favorite games and I haven't been able to play it.

Hi I fixed my problems by going into power plan and changing it to performance along with turning shader cache off in nvidia control panel. It also helped in a few other games but thats just how i fixed it.. I hope this helps.

Hi, Just to check we have the same issue, the screen blips/hitches for a brief moment (not even a second) and the framerate dips, but only by a few frames. 141fps --> 139fps = hitch ? If you set the cap lower, to 120fps for example, when the game dips to 118fps (or any number below 120fps) = hitch ? This is the issue i'm facing, and its been going on since Novemeber (Beyond Light release date), although this stuttering issue did exist for some people before then, but only in one place in the game, when at The Tower. Here's a thread I made over at the Nvidia Forum not long before Beyond Light was released. I complained of a similar suttering issue but it only happened in one place in the game. If you hop over to that thread, Look at the 99% fps value in both screenshots at The Tower. Notice how spaced out those numbers are compared to the actual FPS number (just above the 99% reading). Theres quite a gap right?. This huge gap was the frametimes bouncing around and causing micro stuttering/stuttering. Take a look at the screenshot at earth, notice how the 99% is much closer to the FPS reading. At the time, before Beyond Light, Earth was smooth as butter, even when the framerate fluctuated from 120 to 80fps, not a hitch, because Gsync was working correctly and doing a great job at hiding any small stutters. https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/game-ready-drivers/13/404856/destiny-2-stuttering-only-at-the-tower-99-fps-lows/ If you run Nvidia performance overlay (with experimental features enabled in Geforce experience, enable the advanced fps overlay), you can see that pretty much everywhere in Beyond Light has the same issue I was facing at The tower prior to Beyond Light. The 99% reading is is much lower than the FPS reading. In the overlay the FPS may say 130 but the 99fps could say 65. Quite a gap. Yet Destiny 2's framerate counter / the monitors framerate counter does not show whats going on, so this leaves many players clueless. I complained about this issue at Reddits Destinysupport, here at the Bungie forums and at Steam forums, way back in March 2020, and then I posted sometime after to remind Bungie of the issue, many others posted about it too, but unfortunately as there weren't that many of us that complained / or had this problem, nothing came about from it and it was overlooked by Bungie. Then when Beyond Light came out, it adopted the same problem that had already been going on for months, had Bungie only listened.. Here's some info on my setup - I am using a 2080ti gpu, 1 x 144hz gsync monitor, i was using a ryzen 3700x, but i upgraded to a 5800x using the same B450 mortar max motherboard and the same issue is happening so that rules out the cpu. Also I tested two kits of different ram so that rules out the ram also. I reinstalled Windows and even went back to v1709 and the same issue happens in Destiny, that rules out the Windows version. I've wasted way too much time trying to diagnose whats going on when the problem is evidently the game itself and its in Bungies hands. I'm assuming you use a Gsync/Freesync monitor? (I do) which I know only makes the issue appear worst, as any hitching breaks the smooth framerate. Here's a test for you, try setting the game to 36fps Vsync and see how you get on, does the game still hitch? This almost eliminates the hitching for me as at 36fps the game isn't dipping below that any more so theres no reason to hitch. I don't expect you to play at that framerate though ;). Lets hope they sort this out soon.
