If 40, 60, 80, 95% of the population have a worse time with SBMM they can choose CBMM if they have a choice. This still allows the rest of us to choose SBMM.
The reason the current player population is currently so low is because so many people are not playing PVP or playing the absolute minimum amount of PVP because their personal PVP experience is so poor. What I am trying to do is reverse that trend.
I'm not splitting the population as much as you think. If I have a good connection and a similar skill level to you then I will match you, even if you have chosen CBMM and I have chosen SBMM. You will never match me if I have a bad connection relative to you, so in that case my choice doesn't affect you. The only time you are affected is when you have a much higher skill level than me, then my choice will stop you matching me.
Are you the sort of player who wants/needs to play against people who are much worse than you?

The second sentence in your third paragraph literally agrees with my second point. You and I have said the same thing. Let people choose, but don't limit their potential pool of players to the people who made the same matching preferences.

And I said that in my original post. I said ' let guardians choose which matching algorithm to use for their matchmaking'. I want to have the choice to not match up against people who are vastly more (or less) skilled than me. You want to have the choice not to match up against people who have a really poor connection. Lets allow guardians to choose which of these options is more important to them.

You're original post does not say to let players who chose SBMM to match players who chose CBMM. It actually implies keeping them separate.
