I get 3 ascendant shards every season. I hate it. I don't have endless cores to buy them. I don't do Trials because I'm not that good. And I'd rather die of autoasphyxiation than due Master/Grandmaster Nightfalls. So yes, I need other sources of masterworked gear. And by-the-by, the only dungeon that drops masterworked gear is Pit of Heresy because for some reason Bungie thought it was a good idea to not update Shattered Throne with it, and ship Prophecy without it.

  • No, you don't need another source of masterwork gear. Want to know why? 1. You don't deserve it. You don't deserve endgame loot for not doing endgame content. 2. You don't need it to complete the endgame content because you don't do the endgame content. And lets be real, when did masterworked armor ever make a difference in the strike playlist?

  • Dungeons and Raids are the pinnacle end of PvE content no matter how many debuffs Bungie throws at Nightfalls to make them even more "challenging". Dungeons and Raid are endgame content. And so is PvP. Go be toxic elsewhere.

  • So you'd be fine if they added masterwork materials to raids? Cause I'd be fine with that as well. But from the sounds of your comment, it seems like you want -blam!-ing ascendant shards to drop from patrols

  • Yes. And Dungeons. And probably Crucible Resets for Valor since you can't reset Glory. If I had actually wanted to express that, I would have typed that out.

  • So you want ascendant shards but don't want to do any of the activities to get them? This really sounds like a you problem.

  • You clearly missed the point I was making about master worked gear, not ascendant shards.

  • You can get a easy 28 enhancement cores each week per character with ease and another 7 on top of that if in a clan.

  • It's about 100 cores for one ascendant shard from Banshee because you need them to masterwork gear. So you're saying I can get 1 shard every four weeks, should I stick to one character. I don't have endless time to constantly funnel into the game. I play for maybe a few accumulated hours during the week and maybe 5-7 during the weekends, give or take. A lot of that time is spent in PvP. I enjoy both ends of the content, but I have to pick and choose which side of the game to play. Why is that? That's a poor economy, and this ain't a gacha game. I succumb to playing those too. I have played Genshin Impact and there's better drop rates in that game than in Destiny 2, a AAA title. There's consumables that increase drop rates and quantities. And they can't even do that with resources properly. I don't know how many times resources have been adjusted in Destiny since D1Y1 and it still feels like a struggle bus because nothing actively awards playtime. I could reset my Valor a dozen and a half times, but I'm not getting anything for it. I could only do PvE in my free time, but I still won't get anything for it. I think Dungeons end boss should award a single piece of masterwork gear per week, per character, just like the Pit of Heresy, but they don't. I think Crucible resets should award rarer enhancement materials, but they don't. There's only two active sources for Ascendant Shards dropping in the world too, and that's Nightfalls and Trials. It just isn't enough to sustain the player base as a whole. Back to the 3 shards a season thing, it takes me a full year to fully upgrade an armor set and then (now) it gets sunsetted, and I have to start over. I would personally not want to spend hours and hours bashing my head against a wall in Nightfalls to get a shard or two, and would like to do something I actively enjoy doing like Dungeons or Crucible. Raids, the height of PvE, doesn't even drop ascendant shards.

  • Do you understand how easy it is to get enhancement prisms? I buy 2 ascendant shards almost every week. It has never been this easy to get upgrade materials. I farmed 34 prisms this week just playing quick play.

  • Well if you only play a few hours a week you are not leveled enough to do any endgame activity so no need to masterwork anything since you don’t need it yet.

  • Once again, another person misses the point entirely. And I am leveled enough, I just want to be able to pick and choose which kind of Destiny content I want to experience and have it be worth the time investment.

If you're not doing endgame content, then you don't really need fully masterworked armor. EDIT: Enhancement Prisms can be earned by completing Nightfall: The Ordeal strikes at Hero difficulty, which has matchmaking enabled, and traded in for Ascendant Shards. There are also Ghost mods to find Prisms from PvP kills and bosses in Vanguard and Nightfall strikes.

  • I'm sorry, you're complaining about entitlement? When you're literally saying a player deserves endgame loot despite not doing endgame content? Has entitlement been redefined recently? Did I miss the meeting?

  • What gets me is these people are really concerned about what the next person has in a video game and wether they need it or deserve it. Like it means something other than to stroke a fantasy ego. 😂

  • It is to stroke a fantasy ego. Now explain to me why a desire to legitimately further such an ego is inherently a bad thing? What is objectively wrong about setting an agreed upon metric, and then working to be able to truthfully claim "I have X because I did Y, and you didn't do Y so you don't get X, and that makes me feel good."?

  • Regardless, they want end-game material without doing end-game content. How does that make sense? I do agree more things need to rewards ascendant shards, but I was just thinking that the game should reward you a few every time you reset you're valor or infamy.

  • Dungeons are endgame content too. And so is all of Crucible. Yes, it should award ascendant shards or have a chance to drop masterwork material on reset because that's still time dedicated to play.

Fully masterworked gear is NOT end game. I've done patrols plenty of times on places like Titan and Io, and gotten gear drops that were masterworked already. Come on now, seriously. There are other ways to incorporate this gear besides things that certain people can't achieve by themselves. But only entitled people feel otherwise.
