Harassment / Bullying

Hello fellow Guardians. I am writing this to just simply ask that everyone just slow down, keep calm, and enjoy playing destiny please. Recent events have been affecting my child playing destiny. I have been playing destiny since week 1 and game behavior has really changed. I am the parent of an 8 year old child, soon to be 9 who loves playing destiny, that has severe ADHD requiring medication. Kids with this tend to need to be doing something with their hands; fidgeting kind of stuff with their hands and needing to be doing something with them. Playing destiny and a couple other games actually helps him and when his meds wear off it actually helps him cognitively as well. So, I let him be a guardian and he enjoys it. I like to watch and monitor him because it is actually exciting seeing something that helps manage the ADHD and keeps him grounded instead of running around at 100 mph. He is not an expert at Destiny but he tries. He is learning the value of a fireteam and being a team player. He does try to revive guardians who are down when he can and sometimes he can't and this where I am seeing a disturbing trend of late and this includes last night. Last night he was trying to revive a fellow guardian but couldn't make the jump up onto a rock to get the revive in time. Just before the strike was over this individual, who is a clan founder; I searched him up, started the harassing bullying messages to him. He was telling my son he was a piece of garbage and belonged in a trash can, leave my strike and get the hell out of here, and this came out of nowhere and completely unprovoked. The disturbing part as well is he read the message thinking maybe it was a friend request or something. As a parent, even in a video game it is incredibly disturbing... Not trying to add fuel to the fire to much I sent this person a message back saying he had no right to be messaging an 8 year old, let alone anyone for something that didn't go well for him in a stupid strike. He then sent a message back calling me an over protected -blam!- and let's just say before I really let him have it I reported it to PSN for bullying behavior. With that said what is wrong with you people? This is not meant for everyone, but to think it is ok to just arbitrarily send a message to someone just because maybe you died and a fireteam member who may have been trying to get to you and couldn't is ok to threaten, bully, and use profanity to a level where my 8 yr old was stunned and looked at me confused. Sorry, but that is unacceptable in every way and there is no reason on earth to be sending a message like that, because you were unhappy about something that happened. You don't know who the recipient is going to be and yes, it has happened to me too where I thought the person I was playing with was an idiot. But, I didn't go and threaten him and send him harassing and bullying messages. You can plain and simple just leave the fireteam either at the end of the strike or during, whatever floats your boat. So, to those of you who think that is an acceptable practice and ok to just send messages because you are not happy about something, well good luck with that. I really hope Bungie would step in and administer punishment for those that do that. Not going to hold my breath bust this new breed of people who think that is ok needs to stop and something must be done. Take care and thank you for the minute here.
