Eramis is the best villain we’ve had since Oryx imo

Edit: I should probably mention this is from a story standpoint. Gameplay wise, she wasn’t great.

  • She's definitely up there with Uldren and Oryx. Just a side-note; Yeah, Oryx was a really simple villain. His dialogue and motives were both cliché, but damn he set the stakes high for the expansion.

    • Subjective I suppose, but I feel the complete opposite, worst villain in the entire game imo. The fallen in general pose zero real threat at this point, with darkness powers or not. At this point they're virtually extinct. Oryx was menacing, ancient, and evil. He wiped out entire civilizations repeatedly, and we still destroyed him. Some ragtag leftover fallen got their hands on some ice powers and I'm supposed to be even slightly intimidated? The entire campaign every time Eramis spoke I just thought to myself, "did nobody tell this poor girl who she's messing with?"

No way. In fact, let me compose a list of villains who were better than Eramis. - Calus - Ghaul - Aksis + SIVA - Skolas - The Architects - The Forklift from SRL

Beyond light is forsaken on ice. Here’s the baddie, and their crew. Hunt them down one by one till you get to the final boss. Afterwards you can get quests that were part of the campaign from washed up fallen. Hella copy paste work done there. 3/10 not impressed

Yeah oryx had a better story mode end boss fight eramis you could just run up to her with a sword oryx would kill you if you tried that lol. Kinda think we didn't need the darkness to beat her though.

              • I think she is a solid baddie with pretty spelled out motivations. Uldren was played from the start so while I get the hate, he was getting mind-blam!-ed by Riven which is a major factor. Plus who’s to say what horrors any of the main characters achieved in their pre- risen lives. Clovis Bray went from sketchy to full on monster with some clarity on who he really was. I’m interested in what lore the Raid brings with it.

              • Actually I think Uldren is a better one. How so? You have guardians wanted to still kill the guy even after he just save Osiris!!!! That’s when you know you left a mark.

(The following is written in character as my warlock) #Eliksni Lives Matter: Eramis began as a brilliant leader who was motivated to save her people but the darkness and her obsession twisted her into an extremist. We must ensure that young Eliknsni are not drawn to such fanatcism or violence as Eramis and House Salvation where. With the aid of house Judgement and house Light we shall foster peace and diplomacy in our time between humanity and Eliksni. I've hope for the future that we can build bridges between what divides us and forge an ever lasting alliance, a Federation if you will. We must avoid the pitfalls of fascism regardless of ideologies proposed and cultivate free thinking minds. This was thee Marshall, Prepare Judgement is at hand.

                • I think if Eramis posed more of a threat to us instead of the Eliksni she would be way more menacing. Instead our role feels more like an intervention instead of fighting someone that is actually threatening us.

Gameplay wise, she wasn’t great.
Yeah we killed her too fast with that instant "stasis powered" buff that regen your nades, melee and super way fast to be spammed She should've been a boss to face without our ghost , light and without our splinter shard that gave us the stasis powers, lmao that "focus from within" line by Elsie during the fight making basically the entire "power up this splinter by doing boring stuff" was pointless if the power to use stasis was inside us all along

I'd say the more interesting lore-heavy villan. Since her story is about the past of the Traveler.

                  • Eramis was at one point a eliksni driven to save her people... But the darkness corrupted her and she wants to save her species by whiping out us. As you saw by the story, not all fallen are loyal to her and would rather defect to Mithraxes house. Was she a good villain story wise? Yes. Will she ever compare to Oryx? -blam!- no. Oryx was a man on a mission, not for domination and not for the sake of it. We killed his son Crota, final death in his throne world. He was for the lack of a better word. PISSED When he got here he literally took everything because he could and refused to fight us as we were weak. We proved him wrong and fought him in combat in his throne. We killed him and Oryx in aast ditch effort TOOK himself. We then had to fight him in his accendant throne world aka inside the dreadnought. We killed his priest, we killed his spider ogre thingy and we killed his daughters. We then faced him and killed him finally. We devestated the hive so badly they wouldn't really recover on the dreadnought which in fact started to decay. That's why Eramis will never be close to Oryx.

                    • All destiny villians lack substance and have since oryx. Oryx came seeking to avenge his son with an unheardof ability to transform the common enemies into his own allies, united them against us and giving them new abilities. We beat him in the story but killing him required us to get 6 people and embark on one of the most robust raids in destiny history to beat him at his full power in his throne world. It felt like we had accomplished something, like we had really won a war that had been going on for a long time. While rise of iron was a great dlc, there was no single antagonist to focus on. The story took us to the siva replication chamber where we beat reanimated iron lords and the raid took us to a random siva facility deep underground to take out a vanguard target. Great dlc and amazing raid but no reasoning behind any of it. D2 story and leviathan... seriously embarassing. Ghaul, conqueror of worlds, taker of light, defeated by one guardian in a 5ish hour campaign. And we still don't know what is going on with the random "enemy" calus and the leviathan... he is testing our strength and trying to eat planets but for what? Forsaken admittedly pretty good. Tracking down uldren to beat him, only to open a new book in the dreaming city which led us to riven so that we could break the curse in another awesome raid. Pretty cool although it sucks that defeating riven doesnt actually have an effect on the dreaming city. But still no main threatening antagonist. Shadowkeep story I don't even remember and the raid was cool but totally random. And now beyond light, with eramis, a random fallen splinter leader who appeared out of nowhere, again being defeated in the story by one person in a couple hours. We don't know about the raid yet but I can only imagine it will be related to her group in some way and not totally random (In the story she tells to one of her barons "go to the crypt... prepare the body") but I can't imagine she herself will be there. Oryx is like the Itachi of Destiny 2. A character that is too well written for its narrative.

                      • I actually agree. Her motives were understandable and she was very involved throughout the whole campaign. You can really feel her hate for the Traveller and Humanity in general through the way she speaks.

                      • I think Uldren(Riven) was better because we knew what he was going through after having spent years believing his sister gone, being taken captive by Fallen, etc and Riven was using him the entire time to further her plan for freedom and Savathûn's plot. Eramis has little screen time, too little for a story to be built up properly aside from what we know and that this time her goal is to destroy rather than reclaim. I wish she had more time and I guess now I hope for lore or something to build her story the way the Books of Sorrow did for Oryx but even then, I can't help but feel this was wasted potential. The only thing I found interesting about Eramis overall is that I'm pretty sure she was literally lured here by the darkness to FORCE us to use stasis since we had literally no other way to fight back. However that's nothing to do with her actual character. Makes me sad...
