xbox game pass = free. But yeah, it doesn't sound like they are adding much to justify $40.

Pay $1 for the first month, basically means free so long as you get your fill within that month

A matter of perspective. But you are right, strictly speaking. You're also able to upgrade your remaining time on XBL Gold to Game Pass Ultimate for free. Meaning, you can buy 3yrs of prepaid Gold and then upgrade and [i]actually[/i] get GamePass for free

Still not free because you've already paid for Gold. I realise I'm being pedantic but it irks me when people say it's free.

Well, it is true that it would simply be the price of Gold, however I would definitely be paying for Gold for the next several years. Buying it now does not change my cost basis (actually if you factor in time-value of money, it saves me money). So since I am paying as much as I wouls anyway, GamePass is basically free. But yeah, this is getting very pedantic
