My main issue here with everything D2 has become is still the same: "Why put in new loot when we can get people to buy it instead?" Especially in cases of events. Let's look at it: Cyphers are near impossible to get. Chests drop 3 year old recycled loot. Event is copy/pasted for 2+ years, and doesn't even work right. The only new loot is masks which get trashed the second the event ends. But hey, look at all this limited time special stuff crammed into the mtx shop. Not going to earn anything new, so we made it available to purchase instead. This game does it ALL WRONG. Let's look at how some other games operate: ESO- play grind event to get special loot. Earn some on logins. Purchase available on premiums. FO76- given free items, play events for more, buy some (earnable premium currency). Warframe- Login reward, event reward, premium rewards. Even RUNESCAPE gives out free stuff for doing the holiday event itself. Freaking Runescape. D2 basically has- login for expiratory reward, purchase loot. Dust shop is not playing the event, it's more chores. I'm not going to run for months just to buy my loot for an event and never touch the event itself. Why bother even having one then? Thing is in the long run, the more idiots who buy their way through rewards, the worse it will become.
