I like micro transactions because it's a game cost that you have a choice in. Non optional game costs would be higher to make up for the loss of income if there were no micro transactions. If others want to pay for me to play, I'm perfectly happy with that.

 •
Non optional game costs would be higher to make up for the loss of income if there were no micro transactions.
You don’t actually know that. It’s just an assumption.

 • Any business that has a revenue stream stop is going to have make that money up somewhere. That means raising prices and/or lowering expenses. In this case, that means raising game prices and/or taking the usual route of reducing head count to lower expenses. So maybe game prices could stay the same, but we would get less new things in the game. So we are all either paying more for the same or the same for less. Not much difference.

 • Your argument was the mtx lowered the cost of the game and it did not. It is an additional revenue stream that actually takes resources away from making the game. The price of add on content has no gone down. You can argue that the base game became free but that was after many of us paid for it.

 • I said if Bungie didn't have the micro transaction revenue, they would have to make up for that loss. It can be charging more for their products or cutting expenses. That's simple business. You'd have to explain how Bungie making more money takes away from the game? Most businesses put the money they make back into the business to improve it. I don't see anything different here unless Luke Smith is hiding it all under his mattress.

 • First, now that they exist mtx do constitute a revenue stream that would have to be replaced if they went away. They were not added to replace other revenue streams making it cheaper for customers which is what you implied. If your ftp then it makes sense that you don’t understand that. As for your 2nd point, Bungie is indeed directing resources away from game development (and repair) in order to make content for Eververse. That is not arguable. That Bungie finds that more valuable than actually using those resources to make a better game is also inarguable.

 • Businesses are greedy, they aren't likely to lower prices when they gain new revenue streams. That's why I didn't say that. But they may surely have to raise prices if they lose revenue streams. As far as that goes, there has been Destiny content paid for by micro transactions. I saw an interview with Luke Smith, I think it was, where he said that and said what the content was. I can't find the interview though so I can't prove it. I disagree with your 2nd point completely. The income from micro transactions is what is keeping the people working on micro transactions employed and is what is paying their salaries. If Eververse was removed, those people would not revert back to working on something else, they would be laid off. There wouldn't be the money to keep them.
