I really don't understand why people can run around with nothing but special ammo for an entire match.
Idk if primaries need a buff, or what. But the excessive use of special ammo is annoying.
Are you guys happy with the current state of special ammo and why?
PS. This does not equate to "remove all special weapons" or "I want the game to be boring and slow"
Nor am I necessarily asking for a nerf to any weapons or perks.

My opinion: special ammo should only drop from non-special weapon kills. Then people will at least sometimes use primary weapons.

When I don't want to feed people special ammo I just run double primary. It works!

6 RespuestasHonestly you never have to run scavenger perks!
I really don't understand why people can run around with nothing but special ammo for an entire match.
1. Because special weapons have not been properly balanced vis-a-vis primary weapons now for almost 5 years. 2. So Bungie tries to rein them in by starving them of ammo rather than buffing primaries to kill faster. 3. The ammo economy rewards those who kill with a special weapon with additional special ammo. So it ENCOURAGES and rewards players to run around and spam special weapons. Either to get more ammo.....or to take adventage of when they DO have ammo. Which is why Bungie has NEVER gotten this situation right....and they never will as long as they insist on working the wrong end of the problem.
Idk if primaries need a buff, or what.
They do need a buff. Vanilla D1 launched with a TTK of about 0.6 seconds. That TTK allowed for a wider variety of play styles, and for skilled primary weapon users to punish people for hyper aggressive play, and for poor play with OHK weapons. But the Sandbox lead at the time (my favorite whipping boy) Jon Weisznewski personally preferred a slower game, and one that played mroe like tournament Halo. So he NERFED all the game's primary weapons down to a TTK of about 0.85 without considering how the fast movement speed of Guardians (compared to Spartans) would make the sandbox impossible to balance. The result is that people could run at you over open ground and simply face tank your primary fire until they got into shotgun range....and easily win. The primary weapon user was forced to backpedal while firing, in an effort to slow this closure rate. Thus allowing shotgun rushers to dominate a MUCH larger distance than the actual shooting range of their weapon. Same with snipers and fusion rifles. Players could simply face tank primary fire while they line up their shots (until Bungie turned up flinch for snipers to 11) Weisznewski further imposed his vision for the game by trying to slow Guardian movement even more...so that he could increase TTK to over 1 second...and then making every OHK weapons require heavy ammo ("power weapons"). The result was he broke the game...and turned vanilla D2 into a disaster. Destroyed any notion of power-fantasy on the PVE side....and made individual Guardians so ineffective that team shooting became almost mandatory....and there was absolutely no counterplay to someone runnign around with heavy ammo. This is what happens when you try to force a vision of a game that is not compatible with its identity.
Are you guys happy with the current state of special ammo and why?
Special ammo isn't the problem. The problem is that the sandbox is so BADLY tuned that there basically isn't ANY disadvantage to running around using a shotgun or a sniper as your de facto primary (as long as you have ammo for it). You fix the problem by buffing primaries to the point where you're basically SCREWED if you get caught with a special weapon in your hands outside of its effective/optimal range. But trying to force a workaround by trying to starve special weapons of ammo just breaks the game, and makes it play in a more and more stilted and unbalanced fashion.

My issue is the fact that we have so many OHK, cross slot weapons, some of which are like starting the match with a slightly less powerful heavy weapon. They exist in every match, and completely destroy the flow of the game FOR ME specifically. I would be happy to go back to fusion, shotgun, sniper spam, but if fear that there is no going back. I barely play crucible anymore and most people will cite CBMM for the drop in PvP players but I believe it is a result of how one dimensional the experience is these days.

I am happy with this ammo economy, because you only start with two bullets. To me this is a perfect amount, because it does not allow for people to spam shots and punishes people who recklessly use their shots. The only way to get more ammo is to die or kill someone, which seems right to me.

Editado por Systamatik: 9/29/2020 10:15:13 PMWe should not drop Special on death, only what you spawn with. You should not be able to use a “special” weapon like a primary for an entire match.

I just think primary weapons should be more forgiving and not require 80% or higher(150 handcannons are the exception) on many to achieve their fastest ttk. If the crit ratio was laxed a little and special ammo scavengers didn't stack i think specials would be fine and wouldn't be our primary weapon.

If special ammo was nerfed sidearms would be everywhere. Why use a OHK close range weapon if you can’t get ammo for it? Start by reducing max ammo amount.
-
I quit playing, but the thing that breaks the ammo economy is mods. If they nerf the mods then it breaks a big part of doing builds and game progression. Stuff has to matter, otherwise why grind for it? Why upgrade armor. What would be interesting having some weekly modifiers in one of the game modes that would tone down or remove special.

2 RespuestasI actually enjoy D1 crucible right now. You start with special and periodically green ammo crates spawn in. If you die, you lose your ammo. I’m all for specials being powerful, but I’ve played matches where I spawn in, get a kill or 2 maybe 3 with mountain top. Likely die to a sniper or shotgun. Respawn with ammo. Repeat.

Make scavenger not work in the Crucible. Or make it so you have to kill with your primary to receive a brick, even if they possess special ammo.
-
Honestly I'm in the club of ammo finder mods being disabled all together in crucible. You shouldn't be able to use special weapons in place of a primary weapon. Either that or leave the finder mods in and take away the ability to spawn in with additional special ammo. Some kind of adjustment needs to be made in my opinion. If not though it's whatever. I manage just fine currently.

Why would anyone use a primary ammo weapon if a special ammo weapon rewards a faster and somewhat easier kill in a game mode build over the basis of killing before getting killed?? Can you really blame them? Embrace PvP is what it is and go with it, don't fight against common sense.
