Still grinding away at that axe. Destiny is a loot game. All loot games have to retire power on some fashion. Bungie is expanding the range of power the game has to offer to include our ghosts. And expanding the loot pool to include mods for those ghosts. They are giving us the power to customize these ghosts . They are not going to sell that power through Evereverse. AS A RESULT BUNGIE HAS TO RETIRE THAt POWER TO AVOID CREATING THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THESE GHOSTS THAT YHEU DID WITH WEAPONS. So for once Bungie is playing by the rules of loot games and AVOIDING problems by designing systems properly instead of bumbling into them and then trying to figure out how to fix it later. Loot games are about the chase and always moving forward to the new stuff. If this is unacceptable to you for The Love if God, do yourself and the rest of us and go play a game that will give you want you want. Because this game is t going to do it, and no amount of complaining by you will change this. Bungie retooled their entire company around this, and a few angry voices in social media wont change it. THIS Bungie isn’t going to cave to the pressure, so you are wasting your time.

  •
https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/248852418 Yes. I predicted a lot. That’s what decades of experience and understanding how loot games work allows you to do when developers make design mistakes. And that is what we’re talking about. MISTAKES that interferes with foundational aspects of play. Huff, puff.
Post whatever links you like, not going to waste my time reading them. Don't care how many decades experience and understanding that you have - end of day, you arent a developer, you have accomplished nothing and you still clueless. So what you say, what you claim to predict is meaningless and has no value. Huff, puff.... honestly, you are more like a child with post you make.

  • Not really. It’s just an old topic on how masterwork cores are gamebreaking, changing the name to enhancement cores doesn’t solve anything. Not sure how it pertains to the topic at hand though.

There is no doubt that Mr Green has some knowledge, but my issue mostly with Mr Green and i have said this’d to him before, is how he comes across and he is with other people who do not agree with him.

Actually you’re right, even though you’re trying to be sarcastic. The reason why I’m usually right is because I know my limitations. So when I don’t know or I’m not sure I SHUT UP and either listen.... ...,or go in search of those actually who do know. Instead of just pounding their shoe on the table and insisting they know. So when I do open my mouth I’ve done the homework that allows me to speak confidently. Because it’s more important for me to know what IS actually right, than it is to be SEEN as right.

I dont care what you have to say, I dont care how right you are, I dont care how much you predicted.... your words have no value, nor merit to me! So I'm not going to waste my time reading it. If you want to bolster your ego any further, read it yourself.

  • Unlimited infusion is not the issue. WHAT people use to dispense the power isn't important. The end goal is to win engagements. Be it PvE or PvP. How that is achieved should depend solely on player choice. I.E. We shouldn't need to use some specific combination of things in order to progress. The more options that are available, the more engaging the activity. What is the difference between an AR that has a cap of 1060, and an AR that has a cap of 1360? If the only difference is the cap on infusion, then the net gain remains zero. If I could swap the cap numbers and my output would remain the same, then there was no point in the cap to begin with. So this isn't about infusion. It is about choice. Which is ultimately, the main thing that was gained from unlimited infusion. Not additional power. Choice in how to apply power, nothing more. That's the real problem.

That would require the game's design foundation to be about RPG systems that are interacted with through FPS combat. And yet instead, Destiny is not made around all that. It's overblown gimmicks that come and get left behind all the time thus requiring the bullshit combinations and terrible balance to haphazardly change and fumble all the time. In other words, in order for your foundation for Destiny to see the light, the game would actually have to be a gear-based action RPG instead of a basic modern FPS with some special FX and heap of fluff thrown in to distract anyone susceptible to think it's more than the shallow mishmash of ill-fitting ideas and shifting goals it really is. But with all Destiny has for combat (as in the base back-and-forth between you and enemies, bosses, etc), I don't know why it isn't strictly on-rails at this point. Bungo probably WOULD make it like that if it wouldn't mean getting themselves crucified. There really IS a reason why nobody mentions anything past good gunplay in regards to that. Heheheh. So this foundation that you've cooked up for Destiny, while a solid base for an RPG with gear-based progression that is played through FPS mechanics, can't happen while the shitshow is the way it is now. And they sure ain't makin' D3 either.

  • Another lap around the track. Unlimited infusion IS the issue, because—like fixed rolls—it FIXES power in the game in cement, and brings the flow of a loot game to a grinding halt. Once you have the optimal roll, the every other loot item in that class becomes irrelevant. The only way to get the game going again is to either make something even more powerful.... .....or break that weapon with a nerf and make it less appealing. NEITHER approach is sustainable. Keep making the player more and more powerful, and you trivialize content (or the Dev tunes the entire game to that ridiculous level of power....The reckoning). Or you slam a power ceiling on the game (where we are with weapons right now) and there becomes no power in the game to chase. Either way, the game DIES as a loot game. You can continue to play the game as a pure shooter, a pvp game, or a sand box game where you try to beat bosses with six Rat Kings. But the game DIES as a loot game and RPG.

  •
Once you have the optimal roll, the every other loot item in that class becomes irrelevant.
This is a false statement. First of all you are assuming that the "optimal" roll is the same for all people. it isn't. Secondly, you are suggesting that all weapons have unique traits which would potentially give them an edge over all other items in a given archetype. Neither of which is true in Destiny.
The only way to get the game going again is to either make something even more powerful....
Kelly, that "something" doesn't exist. There is no "more powerful". There is a fixed set of power that is either delivered one way, or another. The Recluse is not "more powerful" than other SMG's because it is the absolute best smg. It is "more powerful" because it has a trait that is unavailable to EVERY other SMG in the game. It has the traits of an exotic weapon WITHOUT the limitation of exotic weapons. That has nothing to do with the idea of power creep. Any legendary that surpasses the function of legendary weapons would have this problem. Power level of that item is irrelevant. End game is not chasing power. Honestly we never chase power in Destiny. Destiny is about optimizing our power output. It will remain that way regardless of what is and is not available in game. So, again, one AR is no different than another on that very basic level. The hunt is not for "power". There are endless sources of "power" in the game, one no different than the rest. The hunt is for the best way for US to use that power. Be it a grenade build. Burst DPS, etc. You sir, are arguing for a game that does not exist.

  • And kelly, if you actually read the posts, and look at the timing, you will notice that they generally coincide with the TWAB or my Thursday night sessions with my friends. THAT sparks the discussion. It has nothing to do with grinding an axe, or rehashing an idea. I made a SPECIFIC point. You just like to lump any critique into a single category.
