The new stuff we got this season was the best. Sunsetting helps the stale meta and most importantly it combats the massive power creep in the game

It [i]would[/i] combat power creep if they [i]actually[/i] sunset anything, but just look at the facts, they're not sunsetting, they're recycling. New stuff we got this season is the best? Combats stale meta? Gnawing hunger isn't new. Next season the "pinnacle" weapon is beloved with a scarf. The logic behind sunsetting is correct, but Bungies' actions don't line up with that, and it's blatantly obvious.

Gnawing hunger isn’t any better than what we already had it’s just the easiest to get. Galliard could roll just as well and we already had that. Gnawing hunger was just incredibly easy to farm. Not better than what we had. They are sunsetting they are residing a few weapons the vast majority will be sunset. The new sword is the best thing added pve wise. The pulse is kinda crazy in PvP. Next seasons RITUAL weapon (not pinnacle). Weapon shares a nearly the same model yes. But here is my question if they change the perk combos as rituals have always done and they change the scope which is rumoured it is effectively a new weapon playstyle and stats wise. So what we are mad about is that it looks similar that’s it. I don’t see any point in complaining if they reissue a weapon but give it all new perks then what’s the problem. If it’s the same perks then I can at least see the complaints even though I still support it. So long as they never reissue a pinnacle then that alone is worth it. Because that’s the real problem that need to be addressed with power creep is pinnacles need to go and this: can we both agree many players will use meta? I mean the weapon usages support this. So in order to get us to use new gear they need to make it better or else we will just use our old meta gear. Sunsetting stops this practice. They can sunset our older gear and give use statistically worse gear but in endgame it will be meta because the other weapons are lower power. It combats this idea that we have to add stronger weapons for people to use them. This system will keep the meta changing. And those last two points can’t be argued IMO

I guess my post wasn't very clear but I'm not against sunsetting, I understand the need for it, I just don't think Bungie is going about it right. I used gnawing hunger as an example because they re-issued it with the exact perk combo and made it easy to get, and it's definitely become one of the most used if not the most used weapon. I realize it's mostly speculation at this point, but given Bungies' history I have no doubt they will continue to do this.

Well, why make new guns at all if what we already have is way better?

If they don't do this then they're either going to make things more garbage from the beginning or through nerfs, so what's the big deal? These things are all basically the same under different names. I just don't understand the outrage.

I don’t see how people can’t understand why it’s nearly necessary. We have no loot incentive right now. Power creep is harming the game. Sunsetting will solve some big issues. For me the decision is simple. Anti sunset arguments are mostly just personal “I don’t like this” type statements. Where as for pro sunsetting it’s arguments to improve the health and experience of the game.

I have 0 loot incentive now WITH sunsetting. I will be using whatever drops for me and sticking with it.
