• Some constructive criticism even though I enjoy this game: D.E. with about 80 Employees: Over the years has added Free Roam zones to a game that was not originally designed for that. Has added Space Combat. Has remastered a few old zones. Managed to correctly find a balance between PvP and PvE with out one effecting the other. Listens to their fans and builds content that makes them happy. But has DE ever removed content? Very rarely. and when they have they did not sell it back to us years later. D.E. knows their a Free to Play company that thrives off of Platinum purchases and they own up to it. Their Primes though they can be bought can alos be earned through grind and don't break the game, it takes the correct mods to make any Frame powerful. Yet Destiny: Bungie with about 400 or more employees has said in the past that they feel overwhelmed.. They constantly reskin old content and then sell that back to us. Similar updates that Warframe would get for free, Bungie charges for. They'll tweak some Fallen, call them Dark Fallen, Splicers, or Scorn and then claim that's a new enemy type. When D.E. designed some Grineer variations that update was free, same sort of update from Bungie, we pay for. When D.E. designs a new destination, its added to Warframe, for free. When Bungie does, we usually lose some thing else such as Trials of the Nine, or Faction Rallies and they have us pay for the new destination after they've taken things away. D.E.s microtransactions are better. they offer more variety, they offer some fan made content, they offer all sorts of things and that company stays afloat off of Platinum. Yet they don't ever seem to market old content as something new. Even when they sell Primes their more powerful than the original and beautifully redesigned. Eververse on the other hand in D2 is a joke. I dont want to buy half the things they offer. There are things they could make and put in Eververse that I'm sure my self and others would want to buy, just look at what ESO and Warframe do with their in game stores. A better Eververse with content people actually want, and Bungie wouldn't need to charge for updates of rehashed content seasonally or annually. the Silver purchases would pay for everything. When I say a better Eververse I mean one more like the stores in other free to play games, that sell things without breaking their game in the process. Bungies problem, their trapped between trying to be half free to play, and half paid content. they need to pick a side and choose and if they stay on the free to play course, they need to rethink Eververse from the ground up and regularly ask fans what they want in it. D.E. has found a way to balance PvP and PvE with out changes to one having adverse effects on the other. While Bungie on the other hand allows people who whine to dictate whether a fun weapon should be nerfed or not. Those nerfs can ruin weapons in PvE, but are almost always the fault of Crucible. When if they used a system to separate between PvP and PvE like Warframe they wouldn't encounter that issue. In Warframe I main a Valkyr she functions very differently in PvP and PvE. Some mods are exclusive to the Conclave, some mods exclusive to PvE and the game remains balanced for it, my Valkrys powers even function differently between both. If Bungie implemented a similar Tactic then nerfs for the purposes of PvP or PvE would not adversely effect the other as they currently do. I love both companies, both games, I wish them both success, but Bungie needs to learn from other companies that have done the free to play system much longer they they have. Bungie does not communicate with their fans as well as D.E. does and I feel they are only hurting themselves that way in the long run. So how could Bungie be more like D.E.? They could sell weapons or armor, lower than ones light, at Eververse for Silver. Imagine if you had the option of buying Thorn for 500 Silver or doing the quest? That's my example of how D2 could be more like Warframe but in exchange..Seasonal updates would be free rather than paid for, I still think Annual updates should be paid for, but have more of an emphasis on new content, none of which is reskins.

      • FWIW.... You don't "own" anything in the game. You purchase a license to USE the game, that's it. That's how software works. So, unless they revoke your license you didn't lose anything that you paid for.

          • It's four planets. Mercury, Titan, Io, and Mars. Mercury and Io can rot. I hate those places and I have no problem with them never returning. Mars is meh in my opinion. I don't really like it. Titan is one of my favorite aesthetics so I'm sad about that, but it was always too small and under utilized. They are knocking out the smallest areas in the game and replacing them with the Cosmo (which is much larger) and Europa (which many people think will be massive and likely will be). I'm all for cycling out stale content that I detest playing in favor of new areas (even if one is the Cosmo, you can bet there will be easter eggs!). It'll help the game feel fresher. And as for this "I paid for it" argument...you paid for a game. You didn't pay for the locations. Destiny is a LIVE SERVICE. That means it changes. I would be surprised to find any kind of majority that prefers these four locations over any other ones we have in the game right now.

If you don't want that, then this game is nothing for you and i recommend to change to another game.

                  • I’m guessing Europa, the new world, is going to be massive to compensate for the half of planets being removed. Plus they are bringing back a destiny raid back, shattered glass I think.

                    • Here is a quick tldr; from what i think is making the most sense. They are cutting content and adding what seems like soo little because the content being added will make up for it and then some. With the new consoles coming out, and what bungie has said about them, I can almost guarantee we are going to get a new engine. With this being the case, it takes time to move older content over. So, by vaulting content, they can work on bring over less, and focus on the main dlc more. If yall remember, destiny 3 was leaked a while back (which would have come out this year) and it was darkness, europa, and a pvevp open world area, as well as some more fun stuff. So we can assume that we are going to get a massive upgrade to what we know in terms of map size. Yeah, it sucks we are loosing this content, but from what it looks like, the price is well justified Plus you can just wait to get the dlc until after it releases

I think it's 4 planets, the ones on the left with the pyramids hanging over them. Mercury, io, Mars, and Titan. Along with that, they are removing some of the better content in the game. I wonder if this has to do with the outside studio's that created better content then Bungie has been doing? It would have been nice to have the loot pool refreshed and have kept the forges, EP, and menagerie around. With this half-baked seasonal content, it makes the game feel like there is nothing to do other than bounties and checkboxes. I'm wondering if this is going to be a year that feels like the launch of D2 and they'll remove far more than they'll add? I honestly think the only reason they are removing the planets is because of free to play. Hopefully, there are some big changes next year and some content that is more replayable. While I like alot of the improvements they have made with this last season the game is not in a great place for new players or vets. The new player experience is pretty bad. The reward streams are terrible. I have very low expectations given what we've played for the last year. The fact that they are putting the expansion on the Xbox game pass leads me to believe this won't be the major update I feel the game needs or I would like to see.

It's part of the reason I changed my mind about buying the next expansion. What this company is offering, what they are removing and changing is not a deal versus some of the new games coming out. IMO they need to sell the game to a company that can handle it because they have proven time and time again that they can't. Especially finally admitting they don't have the manpower for the game.

                      • It's unreasonable to ask Destiny players to have a 150 GB game sitting on their drives, and it's unreasonable to actually work on a game that large that continues to get larger.

The dlc only gives you the dlc weapons and quests and non-public activities. The locations are actually free to play on. Also bungie can do whatever they want with the game as it's in the Terms and Conditions.
