In D1 I used to love snipers for pve content, and while I understand bungie's reasoning for nerfing them, I disagree with their solution. Also I think it wrong to nerf an entire class because of a few exotic that stand out in that group.
In strikes, its usually fast pace with most people speeding through them meaning snipers are not ideal.
In gambit, it takes much longer to kill blockers with a sniper as they seem to deal much less damage than shotguns or fusions. The only thing they are really good for is invaders or invading.
Factor in the fact that they have no good damage perks like trench barrel or 1-2 punch. Plus you still have to rush enemies for ammo. Also they are terrible against sheild enemies.
So I think a 20% damage buff vs majors and ultras would help put them on par with their more aggressive and faster killing counterparts.
Edit: rapid fire frames should be able to 2 tap to the body in crucible again. It's sad when they deal as much body damage as lightweight bows.

Editado por mc_polo: 7/26/2020 12:50:17 AMPvE yes please buff them. PvP no. With how high the usage of snipers in PvP is right now, no. Plus many people stack on either two remote connections or pump actions to gain super quicker (hence all the sniping and shotgun caveman). They would need to really look at the sandbox before issuing anymore buffs.

10 RespuestasIf a sniper does more damage than a sword... And a sword is significantly harder to use... Then it’s not balanced...
-
1 RespuestaBungie Logic: Give every boss stomps and massive damage at close range. Make getting in close range almost a death sentence. Also bungie: Why are players staying away from our bosses and not fighting at close range? Nerf all the long range weapons so the players have to get close!! Snipers, scouts, and long range machine guns have to be trash!!! I hate bungie's weapon balancing sooo much. They suck at making a game fun. All they're worried about is making things painful, unfairly challenging, and sucking enjoyment out of everything.

3 RespuestasRevert trench barrel to its former glory!!!
-
And put back box breathing back to its former glory, since reloads are all nerfed into the ground.

1 RespuestaDo it's a tough line to walk. I get shotgun damage being what it is because there is generally risk associated with using it in higher level activities. Personally I'm a big fan of snipers in PvE but I always walk into Prophesy with First In Last Out because the damage and consistency is just better. It takes two headshots from FILA to kill a taken Knight. It takes 3 shots from WHISPER (without whispered breathing active, but still it's a heavy sniper) to kill the same enemy. To me, with dealing with having to be accurate with the amount of incoming fire you're constantly dealing with in end game activities, there needs to be a payoff of some sort. Using the aforementioned Knight as an example, I feel like a rapid fire should 4 tap, adaptive should 3, aggressive should 2, and Whisper should 1. Ideally some form of damage buff would knock one shot off of each of these (high impact reserves, boxed breathing, firing line, rampage, kill clip, a debuffed enemy, etc). While we're at it, can we pretty please buff DARCI 😁

Buff the snipers 100 % if you want in PvE...Just nerf them in PvP already.
-
Yeah this game sucks.
-
No offense but we had the izanagi meta and it sucked. Throwing a grenade and standing in a well at a distance is about as fun as watching grass grow.
-
10 RespuestasBungie: “Snipers aren’t being used, so we’re buffing them!! (:” Playerbase: *actually uses snipers* Bungie: “We’re reverting the sniper damage buff introduced in Shadowkeep.” So stupid, the reload nerf to Izanagi was enough.
-
2 RespuestasI see your experience and I still tell you no. Snipers are in an okay spot if you nerf the aim assist down and maybe up the dmg by 2-5 percent. But that's it.
-
5 RespuestasPve? Yes. pvp? Nope, I don’t want more glorified scouts shutting me down in my roaming super in one shot.
-
I don’t think they need it but I’ll say yes anyway
-
7 RespuestasThis dam game pisses me off, if something is good and strong for PvE it gets nerfed, and when the next best thing comes, it gets nerfed again. It's a never ending cycle of bs nerfs.
-
They were buffed, they nerfed them a couple of seasons ago. They probably wont be back for a little while.
-
2 Respuestas20% is what they buffed them to previously, then reverted. So maybe half that
-
1 Respuesta? Snipers don't need a buff! Some special weapon snipers can put out more damage than some heavies!. They don't need that advantage. The main reasoning you list is the pace of the game. Have you played anything endgame related? They become the best special weapon in a heartbeat. And shotguns SHOULD do more damage than a sniper, because snipers are less risk, shotguns have to deal with close range stomp. It's called The risk to reward ratio.
-
Maybe buff your dismantling capabilities first! Also.... #BuffCerberus2020 Kind Regards SYLOK THE DEFILED Thirsts For Your Light https://youtu.be/Y_xCIewheW0

Editado por vitisku1: 7/22/2020 12:38:39 AMYeah snipers are in strange place as far as pve is concerned. I mean, there’s only a handful worth using without feeling like you’re hobbling yourself, and one of them isn’t even obtainable anymore; my triple tap, vorpal weapon Trophy Hunter never leaves my inventory. With appended mag and backup mag mod allowing me to proc Triple Tap twice without reloading and the work that vorpal weapon puts in, it just puts in serious work against most bosses in the game. In my experience it’s the only legendary sniper worth using in pve and you can’t even get it anymore. So unless you want to take up your exotic slot with the trusty whisper or Izanagis, snipers are in a pretty crappy place in pve
-
2 Respuestaswhy buff snipers when u can just install a program to give u infinite heavy and auto-aiming snipers with infinite revives? bungie doesnt ban cheaters so might as cheat in pve as well
-
11 RespuestasThen the streamers will complain that it makes the pve too easy and their content cannot be dragged to get viewing times up...
-
7 RespuestasOkay, returning snipers to where they were sounds like a good idea, I agree. However, we need more mobile bosses, especially raid bosses, that are difficult to hit routine crits against. Perhaps some raid bosses shouldn't even have critical spots.
-
To be fair! I mean an IKELOS SR with Box Breathing can kill the Tribute Hall in just 12 Box Breathing proc’d shots! But get this. It takes just 2 (count them, 2!) more without Box Breathing. Mountaintop kills it in 6 unproc’d shots, Truthteller in 8, Main Ingredient in 6-7, Trench Barrel Seraph kills in 5. Why WOULDN’T I want to use a weapon that requires more precision but does less damage?
-
The way this post is framed almost makes me think the poster had no idea Shadowkeep happened/unhappened to snipers Orrrr. Are you from the past?
-
They've gotten better about splitting nerfs and buffs between pve and pvp but now they just need to make everything viable in pve. I hate telling my friends that they shouldn't use a class of weapon in a raid because it just won't do enough work for them (I get that certain weapons are meant for certain situations and all but scout rifles are still entirely useless in PvE)
-
1 RespuestaThey're absolute trash against those Whisper bosses, you might as well go at them and do sword swings and die over and over again. That's actually more effective. I used a High impact with full reserves and hit mostly headshots on one of the bosses, and it didn't even take the boss's health down to half. Quite pathetic.
