Team building straight up punishes you for being better at the game. Matchmaking is random, but when teams are being put together they keep high skill players away from each other for "balance." I was top of the leaderboard for literally every match I played last night except for a join in progress, and I'd still get crushed because the bottom 3 players had below a .5.
