I’m in the top 1% of guardians who play this game and I’ve been playing since the beta. I haven’t gotten the upcoming DLC yet and I’m considering just not playing anymore after this season.
Bungie has made so many decisions that are at extreme odds with how the majority of the players want the game to be.
-With all these new mods, yes they can be powerful but they are overly complicated for powerful builds. There are way too many limitations.
-All super regen exotics were nerfed to the ground.
-Armor 2.0 costs way too many materials to masterwork. Exotic masterworks are largely not worth it because we don’t get an extra mod slot.
-Armor 2.0 should have multiples of 5 or 10 for each stat instead of singular stats. This type of change would make the stat system a lot simpler to manage.
-Sunsetting when so many weapon types have barely or never had a time to shine. Bungie’s slow sandbox changing system has caused this.
-Bungie should have always had a different sandbox for PvE and PvP to limit the amount of complaints this community has about PvP power creep.
-No one complained about PvE power creep in the Forsaken days. Why has this suddenly become a thing after the most popular time in Destiny which was Forsaken? This is a video game. We want to feel powerful against the AI. It’s unfortunate that the more we complain that we have become too weak, Bungie replies back by just nerfing us some more.
There’s just too much wrong and none of it matters anyway. It doesn’t matter because the people who like these changes are in the minority but Bungie only listens to them anyway.

I totally agree but it was also those same players that asked for super regen exotics to get nerfed because the game got too easy, it was the same players that wanted lunas howl nerfed and we now have auto rifles with the same ttk as pre nerf lunas howl. Players constantly ask for nerfs to the point Bungie gets fed up and just completely nerfs things to the ground, hence nova warp being the most pathetic class to ever exist in destiny. These same players that hate sunsetting weapons are also the ones wanting the most used weapons nerfed because these players will never accept the fact that there will always be the next big thing. Bungie knows this and decided to make this option because everyone is always complaining about the meta, so revoker, mountaintop, spare rations etc. all these weapons are really good but everyone always complain about them so whats the alternative bungie has? Sunsetting Bungie has never been the best at creating new content and refreshing things so I have no idea why everyone was pro sunset, I knew this was going to happen and I was not surprised when I learned we are regrinding for old stuff. The only real reason sunsetting exist is to force a different meta because everyone always complains whenever they get wrecked. We also have those idiots that claim power creep, like who cares? Are we not playing a video game? Whats the point of leveling up and powering up if we cant even feel it? I blame the whiny players that always get on the forums asking for nerfs and the ones that complain about never having anything to do. I seriously feel if people bothered to ask for buffs and more game modes or more story missions instead of nerfs, we would be in a much better spot.

Yes but those complaints are PvP complaints. Vex won’t complain. That is why they need to separate PvP and pve. Also, Bungie created that mess by creating these quests (Luna, nf, mountain) of course everybody is running with hand cannons etc. Also by not wanting to recognize that skill level is an issue. I know a guardian, he loves his service revolver, got Luna in a weekend and yet he prefers his service, Luna is in the vault. And he can tell you who bought Luna cause he can see their lack of skill. There is this misunderstanding that people think that a weapon makes the difference. A blueberry can be killed by anything. All those you tubers love going on killing sprees with any weapon part of why they returned to cbmm, they need blueberries for that. And that way they can promote Mediocre weapons. Now with sbmm, yeah a weapon can make a difference. The complains come from lower skill players being killed, and they mistake skil for weapon. Now pve mentallity is different, you want community, cooperation, power ... They should make a new game, lighter, PvP based for all these casuals. And maybe sell destiny to someone with the imagination and interest to develop its potential.

Completly correct. Same here!

Finally - someone who understands that the difference between mod values in pvp and pve make the whole power creep discussion dishonest. Great post. We’re supposed to take power creep seriously when: 1. The game has operated for years without power creep being an issue. Crickets. 2. The artifact creates power creep every season. 3. Bonuses attached to power level increases do more to put the game on easy mode than any mod. 4. Corollary to #3 - no player is OP at the beginning of the power climb even with recluse and mountaintop. The perks are not a design problem, if at all, until the absolute endgame. 5. By sunsetting weapons and armor Bungie is committing themselves to MORE design effort, not less. They have to replace everything made obsolete with stuff has the same or better value. Otherwise the game becomes more vanilla and less fun. And - drum roll...... 6. The same weapons with the same perk pools are being reissued right in front of us. Which exposes the lie that sunsetting was necessary to begin with. The real problem - Bungie would rather be anal retentive micromanagers instead of giving players the space to have fun. I’ve never seen a game as punishing as this one. Who needs it? I’m not preordering or buying the expansion anymore until Bungie starts developing to its strengths: first rate FPS mechanics, art, and story development. Everything else is a distraction that adds no value.

You never played D1 did you. Power creep was the reason they wiped our vault.

Been playing since the beginning. It was a shitty decision then and twice as worse now.

100% spot on in every instance.

Completely on point with your post. Well said.

Yeah Bungie is in self distruction mode. Seems they want to transform this into a Fortnite kind of game but. They should separate PvP and PvE. They want to balance weapons in PvP, yet the maps are too small, there is no creativity or exploration involved, the skill level difference for new players is overwhelming - which makes for a non fun experience. They really need to work on making PvP a fun experience. As for PvE, here the point is building up for high end activities. People want to feel powerful. Want to build up to melt the big Bosses. With all this nerfing, sunsetting, balancing - champions, stomping, faux level - so many things have become annoying instead of exhilarating. On top, high end activities requiere some commitment, a more mature attitude. Lately there are lots of people in raids being so rude and disrespectful, wasting peoples time - this community is changing in the wrong way. People don’t appreciate what is free. Pinnacles and power are important in PvE. Bungie is killing the motivation - why grind for anything? It’s meant to be fun and rewarding yet Bungie is just creating frustration. And it’s too controlling to please no one. Nor the casual or the committed player.

Exactly and I totally agree. The point about being able to direct infuse weapons could solve the problem. If you have a blast furnace that’s the perfect roll just continue to run frames to get any roll at a higher light level to directly infuse your best roll. Still ridiculous but they get their inflated playtime without providing something new. New players have to chase the weapons regardless. If you have them they’re still viable.
