I’ve been having ideas on how to make VoG feel fresh and new again while also maintaining that nostalgia for veteran players. While I don’t think that the core mechanics of the raid itself should change, I do think it would be nice to add new secrets hidden in it that were never in D1. For example, adding a 6th chest somewhere as nice little nod to the running joke players had back in D1. And it just so happens that 6th chest guarantees you an exotic. But the coolest idea I have to share is the opportunity to add a new exotic raid weapon in VoG that is to be completely hidden away for players to find, similar to Whisper of the Worm. In case Vex Mythoclast returns, players will expect it to be a random drop from the Atheon final boss encounter and that’s probably it. But what they don’t know is there’s also another exotic that is still yet to be found (perhaps you’ll get to go back to the area where you started the No Time to Explain quest in the heroic Paradox mission from D1 and have a mini boss encounter there before doing the Gatekeeper encounter) and is a quest exotic like Touch of Malice and Outbreak Prime/Perfected. My idea is this new exotic would be a weapon that once belonged to Praedyth, the Guardian that was lost in time in VoG or something relating to the lore of the raid. People would never expect a raid to have two exotic weapons (one old and one new) and it would be totally awesome for both veterans and new players. But those are just my ideas. Any thoughts?

2 RespuestasI can't believe the community never found the 6th chest after all this time.

1 RespuestaAll supplicants are now barrier champions

1 RespuestaLol they are too lazy to add anything new. But if they did, obviously, they should add Xylar the Timeless

3 RespuestasNope. I’ll go play D1 for my VOG fix if I do choose. Bringing any D1 content to D2 is lame and so are those who welcome this reskinned approach to development. Did you preorder yet? Probably.

Just add those spicy champions.

I never did VoG and I probably never will It just doesn’t look fun. HOWEVER I will be grinding them pinnacles to do DSC day one

Add an exotic quest to it similar to the outbreak and divinity quests.

Or it'll have somethings new alright. Champions at every turn. Maybe different mechanics during boss fights as well.

3 RespuestasPersonally, I think the best way to improve the raid, or add to it, would be a new encounter. I personally think this should be done to each of the D1 returning raids. VoG should get a final encounter. Kabr, The Legionless. Have a vexified Titan smash through the glass throne in a cinematic style scene. His encounter would work in a new way, but involve the mechanic of the vault, using the Aegis to stun him or something. Crota’s End should get a boss before Crota. I like the idea of the Throne’s Guardian, which would be some massive beast that bursts out of his Oversoul or crawl up the back of the throne world. It could work a little like Riven where you’d avoid his attacks and then hit him when he’s exhausted. King’s Fall should have an encounter where we fight the Tai Emperor Raven. Nothing more to say there imo. Wrath of the Machine should have an extra encounter. Maybe one where you have to escape the chamber you beat Aksis in. Other than extra encounters to spice the raids up, maybe weapons/armour or something like a few ornaments would be good. Exotics could work, but they’d have to be done uniquely.
