Funny thing is that I've seen players use the boss stomp of the primevals in Gambit Prime in order to surf across the map at light speed. Boss stomps are now a speed-running tactic.
It's so weird being an invader and seeing an entire fireteam launch themselves across the map in order to stay out of your sight. It's oddly effective.

It blows my mind not because it's almost genius but that killing yourself is just far more effective

Apparently it's a calculated risk. People seem to carry swords to help soften the landing damage after a launch, either by blocking or by swinging their sword in the opposite direction of their flight path. Much too complicated for me...

yeah you gotta time it right or else ur either next to the boss after the stomp or you launch away while one shot.

I thought I was loosing my mind

I did too until I invited someone who did it to a party and asked him about it. Apparently using a sword helps soften the landings. Shoulder charge and Warlock air-dodges help too by generating momentum opposite of the launch.
