I agree that he didn't need to die. Also, I was unaware that there was history between them. However, this does not change the fact that this was one cop.

Technically, it was 4. All those men did nothing to stop George Floyd from been killed. Granted, I get it, the young cops were in a tough spot because that ass-hat was their ranking officer, but there's no way I could have stood by and watched it happen. And, I would have probably been shot because I could not have stood there and filmed it happening, either. There are criminals who probably deserve to die and let God judge them, but it is not a police officer's job to make that determination. Innocent until proven guilty by a jury of peers in a court of law. I agree that MOST police officers do not behave this way, but it's time that NONE do!

Ok keyboard warrior lol.

I agree. However I think that more training and less chances when they make mistakes is what cops need. Riots, looting, calling others racist, and abolishing the police are not helpful in my opinion.
-
It wasn't a training issue and stop calling it a mistake. He was a TRAINING OFFICER! You are sort of brushing-off the true issue here and that's WHY people are rioting. Start calling it for what it is; systemic racism and dehumanizing. Period. I am pro-police, by the way. I wanted to be a Game Warden growing up. But, I also grew up in a time and place where racism was more prevalent and I chose to be different.
-
Nothing systematic about it. I haven't even seen or heard anything to suggest that this was a racist incident to begin with.

Chauvin has been shown to be "aggressive" towards minorities while working security in the same club as George Floyd. I am not making this stuff up, I live in Minneapolis and have been following the story closely. I know George wasn't an angel and he had a long history of criminal activity. But, you can't convince me that Chauvin didn't know exactly what he was doing and why. He didn't even stop to check on the man. Shows a complete lack of caring about another person. I believe that is due to him being racist. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qeMEu8Zj9Y

Or maybe he was just evil.

You may be right about this. Thank you for presenting logical evidence in a civil manner. Even so, I don't think that this reflects anything on the police force as a whole other than that they need to fire troublesome officers sooner. The officer also had many reports of misconduct prior to the George Floyd incident. However, I suspect that the union prevented him from being terminated. Once again. I do not think that this officer was in the right, but he also does not represent systematic racism.

Thanks for being civil yourself about it. Nice to have an actual conversation (or text chat at least) about a touchy subject. I think we are on the same page for the most part, though. I definitely respect most police officers because they are truly there to "Protect and Serve" and I have seen countless examples of officers doing it right. Truly caring about people even though they may have done something wrong. Unfortunately, that is clouded by the few really bad examples.

Indeed. I wish that more discussions could be this calm and informative.
