If you can already put a universal armor ornament on ANY piece of armor in anything released from Forsaken onward this makes absolute no sense. So you’re telling me I have to find some random drop each year or so (from a old piece of armor) that Bungie brings forward (instead of making new armor) remaster work and re-roll the stats I want by grinding all over again every year to get the perfect amount of Intellect, Discipline etc. Nope!!! F that mess. Pointless and incredibly room temperature IQ of Bungies staff or more so Luke Smith.
Weapons makes a little more since to sunset but there’s no point of that either knowing they’ll just bring the weapons back in months to come anyway. This has made me quit destiny entirely and I don’t plan on coming back after this.

I agree because sunsetting doesn't solve anything because Exotics make up half of the meta so there is no real change up. It's only a way to force players to play their crappy season public events.
-
I know it doesn't make any sense. a lot of players like myself we really worked hard getting a lot of weapons with good perks near god tier. Now because of the sunsetting, a lot of it has to be deleted because come next season most of it's going to be obsolete. I don't mind the whole armor sunset, every season I'm always using the new armor so it's no big change for me. Weapon sunset is a major problem. Ex I had a full vault of different types of weapons for kinetic energy and heavy h for every elemental type for energy on last Saturday I deleted most of it because most of it was going to be pointless because of sunsetting. after all that now I only have two and a half pages of stuff that consist of the season of the arrivals and worthy, since stuff from season of the worthy becomes relevant up to spring of 2021 according to an article that I found. Season of the arrivals stuff last until summer of 2021. So yeah most of my good stuff came from Forsaken and up to season of the Dawn. it sucks a lot of exotics are going to be affected by this like outbreak and the wish ender. I don't know maybe in the future bungee might an update for exotics, where you can require those exotic somehow either to do the activity again from the original source or maybe you can pull it out of your collections so you can actually use them past this season honest people are not going to try to refarm for those exotics again just so they can use them again... Like I know you can get exotic armor that is updated for this season with the arrivals logo I just don't know if that can apply to exotics like outbreak, wish ender and xenophonge etc
-
I can't wait, been deleting stuff every time I'm in my vault and I'm vaulting permanently carried gear that I can't infuse from next season. I'm fine with it. It's also making me infuse and use some dusty exotics again, maybe that's a subtext of the plan.

27 RespuestasEditado por DriftedColt8917: 6/22/2020 5:29:39 PMI get so confused by all these sunsetting posts. After checking the stats on a majority of the posters, they do not raid, they do not play trials, and they are not doing grandmaster NFOs or usually NFOs in general for that matter. Maybe these people don’t realize it but if they aren’t doing any of those activities sunsetting will not effect them in anyway really. Unless suddenly they want to play IB, but even there I’ve see 800s out score 1030s last season. Even gone toe toe head shot for head shot and been killed by them. Like you for instance. Minimal raid clears haven’t cleared a NFO above hero and sticks to normal playlist pvp. You won’t be effected by sunseting.

In this season, I leave few weapons only, because it has short life only. Less than 3 months: Worthless. I dismantle everything unconditionally. Less than 6 months: Almost, worthless. I dismantle everything unconditionally. Less than 9 months: Low value. If it has god rolls, I leave it. But I dismantle 95%. Less than 12 months: If it has enough good rolls, I leave it. Bungie called this "the sandbox to feel interesting, exciting, and dynamic", but Sunsetting made Three-quarters of current season weapons garbage. Bungie, do you think that this is exciting and interesting? About dynamic... Hmm... I can agree to "dynamic". Getting weapons I already had is dynamic, and painful, not-exciting and not-interesting. This dynamic is hell.

3 RespuestasHere’s the secret behind armour being sunset that I realised while prepping for my Solo Flawless run of Prophecy. It’s a way to remove all of those seasonal mods from use in Endgame activities. So think the mods from Last Wish, Scourge of the Past and Crown of Sorrow. Armaments, Barrier, etc...

1 Respuesta
Sunsetting weapons and armor makes no sense
Well it makes sense somehow...sadly It's the laziest and cheapest Solution to a Problem. That's Bungie specialty to find that kinda Solutions.

If it makes no sense to you, then you're not the type of player that will be affected by it. Sunsetting gear in general makes it to where the new gear added season to season will actually be used instead of people being lazy and clinging to 3 year old gear. With armor, they can't just make "more interesting armor" due to the way armor mods work. The bulk of an armor sets' desirability now comes from how the set looks, unless you're the type to do endgame PvE or PvP, then stats would be taken into account. But, the type of people to chase stat rolls for raiding/endgame in the first place will be the type to happily re-chase those rolls on new gear sets, provided the endgame content itself is challenging and rewarding. The main point of sunsetting is just to cap weapons in the new endgame, so if you're thinking your weapons will no longer be usable for the entire game, you're simply wrong. It's just that endgame metas stagnate, and rather than let that happen, they want to introduce new metas so players don't get bored. If you're not the type to raid/do GM nightfalls/go for Flawless trials runs, you are not the type of player that should be complaining about sunsetting, because it will literally have no effect on you. By the time sunset weapons come back into relevance, Bungie might actually have been able to make an interesting weapon that can compete with it without breaking the game. The only way to make new loot interesting without sunsetting is to continually make stronger and stronger gear, until you end up with pre-nerf Recluse and Lord of Wolves. Or if you're familiar with Y1 D1, pre-nerf Vex Mythoclast, AKA at least the 2nd most broken gun in the game's history

1 RespuestaIt doesn't make sense because you're thinking about it the wrong way. If you think about it like its Bungies way of doing absolutely nothing but add a power cap to gear to force you to farm to try to acquire the same piece you liked while not releasing any new gear to replace the old stuff and they just keep adding old gear and content that you've already played...... 🤪 Then it makes perfect sense.
-
It doesn't. It's just Bungie's way of reprising them again in later expansions because they are lazy.
-
But look at all the great weapons we can use in the fall expansion. Oh yeah we already have most of them. So much for choice, trying new things and power creep.

I've been busy gathering what information I can during my downtime. Basic Crucible playlists / Strikes / Gambit at a stretch will be the peak of all your sunset gear. So what's available to you currently for the next 12 months? As in going into the fall until this time next year? Season of Dawn Weapons - Yes Current re issues (as controversial a subject as it is) - Yes Current Season Armour and Guns - Yes This is everything I can say with a minor grain of salt that will last you 12 months give or take 1 season. Unless Bungie bend the knee and change when a power bump occurs which throws things out the window. This is based on the caps currently in the game and calculated at a 50 bump per season (every 3 months). This time next year your max light as best as I can tell will be 1260 with a reasonable give or take of a month. Depends exactly what goes down and if anything changes in the meantime. I hope this gives a small comfort to a few people who are moving forward even if it is with a bit of a grumble. I grumbled but I'm getting on with it.

Right along with a bunch of other ideas they have

Yep. I don't play anymore. It makes perfect sense if you're a lazy incompetent developer... just for clarity's sake, we will call this developer bungie. The irony is bungies normally bounce up an down. Not this one. It seems quite comfortable hanging at the end of a length of rope. Waiting.

I don't care about thier reasons or any mental gymnastics that people need or want to do for justification. I'm moving forward with the assumption that Bungies path and my own have diverged. No hard feelings, but I play they way want to play and as a consumer I paid for the game as it was standalone. I purchased a disk , with a game but somehow Bungie has decided that , you didn't buy the game , they changed it to you purchased the "Right" to play the game and that at any point they can rescind or revoke that right , or just flat out delete content that I paid for. I walked into a store fifteen years ago and laid down some money for a citizen watch, I physically carrier it out of the store and I have worn it everyday. Not once has citizen contacted me and informed me that my model of watch has been retired and I need to come in and purchase a new upgraded watch . This watch is a legacy I can leave my son They did it right with D1, they wanted to update and move on .. but yet they left our legacy in place .. I have the game and the proof,.I can revisit the game on my deathbed if I so choose many years from now .. I wish everyone at Bungie all the best as well as my fellow players

Sunsetting has to be the laziest form of balancing I've ever seen, but ofc balancing is just an excuse. I am looking for a reason to come back to the game as hard as I can but everything I've red or heard just sounds so repulsive. Basically next dlc I would literally pay to diminish all my previous efforts, why would I ever want to do that? Why would I ever chase anything in the game now, when everything comes with expiry date. There's no incentive to spend time on anything non exotic and time just isn't valued, heck there's even a reddit post of which game values players time the least and destiny is by far in the lead, speaks volumes. Out-activisioning activision at this point.

Im pretty sure in the reveal they are touching up on transmog...

It makes perfect sense.
