Champions are appearing more and more, and our weapons are getting chosen based on whatever Bungie decides should have anti-champion mods.
We're not playing our way. We're playing their way. It's like exotic weapons have been discreetly sunset.
There's even exotic weapons that could have very obvious anti-champion mods on them right out of the box. Borealis and Arbelest could use anti-barrier rounds because they are already meant to deal with elemental shields. Tractor Cannon and Wishender could have unstoppable mods because they hit hella hard to stagger unstoppable enemies. Pretty much any weapon could have Overload mods on it...
At no point should our exotics be a hindrance to our loadout.
Edit: Looks like this got bigger than expected! I will add that I know about exotics that passively have anti-champion abilities and that I know about the new mod that works with all exotic pulse rifles. I still don't think that is true weapon freedom, but at least it's a start.
Edit 2: I can tell some of you aren't reading what I wrote other than the title! I added the first edit so you all can go straight to proper discussion instead of pointing out the obvious exotics that already have the anti-champion mods or the new armor mod that effects all pulse rifles. People keep pointing those out though! Until I can throw anti-barrier on my Cerberus+1 though, I won't truly be satisfied...

I like the idea of champions but hate being restricted to certain weapons depending on the available artifact mods.
-
2 RespuestasEriana’s Vow has Anti-barrier and any exotic pulse can get unstoppable. It’s better than nothing.
-
I do like the new idea of champion mods on armour pieces. Just wish they were not elemental and slotted to certain areas. Universal placement for all three types would be good, and would free up the mod slot on weapons.
-
1 RespuestaThere are now universal anti-champion mods for armor that allow you to get that effect on an exotic. For example, the Unstoppable Pulse Rifle armor mod now grants any pulse (including exotics like Bad Juju, Outbreak, Vigilance wing and Graviton Lance) an unstoppable burst. No need to sacrifice other weapon mods such as backup mag and so on...
-
1 RespuestaExotics are already that, exotic. Theyre unique in their abilities, but should never be a one size fits all solution to the game. The armor mod that allows any pulse rifle to have overload to me is perfect.

10 RespuestasChampions need to go. Simple, easy solution.

12 RespuestasOr just get rid of champions.

Exactly. Without a mod slot on Exotic weapons, they mostly cannot compete with Legendaries. They are almost useless except under special circumstances. Sure, there are exceptions, but not many, and fewer still that feel good and are fun to use. Since the added the stupid artifact mechanism, I have mostly stopped running around with artifact weapons equipped. I use a few (very few) for some special circumstances, but thats it. Long ago we hammered Bungle hard about the sea of endless bullet sponges they threw at us in all activities. We must have huwt dew widdo feewings... Because CHAMPIONS are their revenge. Champions are 10x worse than the bullet sponges. They are self shielding, regenerating bullshit mini-bosses that are most of the time, harder than the actual bosses. Without the right weapons, they are a big fat “You Shall Not Pass” for solo players. Sometimes their regeneration is so OP that you cannot even overcome it at all without help. These enemies are not fun to fight, nor are they ‘challenging’. They are simply Bungle being f.o.s. Get rid of Champions entirely. They serve no function except to slow down and annoy players.

1 RespuestaCrucible has been DICKtated how you play since the start . Making Open world activities to fit their DICKtfailiorship makes perfect sense for Bungle 🤣 You play how Bungie tells you too , they got emotional problems from high school where they were all bullied and ignored . Now their Gods of their own universe and all shall Bow to their wills . 💰🙄💰

4 RespuestasWhat I believe is that they want the weaken guardians so they don’t have to introduce something too difficult to even finish and can just make normal dungeon but with weaker guardians. That way you still have challenging game play. And if they would add anti-champion mods on exotics they would have done it seasons ago.
-
You only need overload rounds really anti and unstoppable usually can be felt with before the peel steps in.
-
16 RespuestasI agree. This season public event is a mandatory double primary activity. That's -blam!-ing boring. For a developer that nerfs a lot of things based on the argument that we should experiment other weapons, throwing champions everywhere is imposing that I have to play with double primaries no matter what. And to be honest I'm a little tired of not being able to use almost nothing else in those activities with champions.
-
7 RespuestasThey did at a pulse rifle anti champion mod that applies to arms this season. It's in the 4th column in on the artifact. This will let you have unstoppable rounds for any exotic pulse.
-
That or add those anti- champion traits into a catalyst. Symmetry had an unstoppable effect on release during Season 9 and what happened? Bungie patched it, claiming it was a bug. Honestly that season was the scout rifle season and they missed a golden opportunity to make the season pass exotic shine more.
-
Huckleberry is one gun I would use so much if it had a champion mod.
-
2 RespuestasThey either need to get rid of champions period or remove all the useless perks in the second or third column of the seasonal relic and make room for champion mods for special weapons.
-
I feel like the barrier champions shouldn’t be able to regenerate health if you’re continually beating their ass.
-
No, just remove the champion system entirely, It's just annoying that I have to go hide behind a corner and switch to weapons that I don't want to use just to complete solo content with champions or clear matchmade nightfalls where the other two players don't bother to run a single mod.
-
Get rid of Champions. They're nothing but annoying bullet sponges.
-
I agree with the obvious weapons that need it but not all exotics need it. I think it's okay but it's dumb how we have to play the way bungie wants us to in that case. But the same time that's creating a meta which you shouldn't. It's balanced where it is right now
-
1 Respuesta2 things 1. i have never felt hindered in my weapon choice with mods, I have learned to keep a broad range of weapons I like 2. I feel like im the only person who likes champions, its an interesting mechanic that changes gameplay
-
Adding armor mods that give all weapons of an archetype is a good start, but we need MORE
-
4 RespuestasJust like in D1 with their buff/nerf cycle, Bungie's goal with weapon loadouts has always been to "give each gun their time in the sun". They've hated that players would stick to whatever the most effective loadout was so they started attacking those loadouts. They hide behind the veil of players making meaningful choices for playstyle while they tried to nudge one weapon archetype out of the spotlight and push a different one into its place. Adding Champions (and their associated mods) is just Bungie pulling away the subtlety and actively forcing you to use whatever archetype they want to see more of in any given season. They want to keep telling players that they're free to use whatever they want, which is technically true up to a point, but when it comes to actually dealing with relevant content in a meaningful, impactful way, you have to do whatever Bungie is telling is you to do. I still don't know why they never put mod slots on Exotics, or updated more Exotics to be like Eriana's Vow that intrinsically deals with specific kinds of Champions. Only thing I can come up with is that Bungie doesn't want the entire playerbase to use the same Exotic for PvE content, which feeds right back into their "time in the sun" reasoning for forcing players to use whatever they decided is allowed for this patch cycle.

2 RespuestasYou should share your opinions more often. Clearly an intelligent thinker and capable of presenting a good argument. Keep em coming! Upvoted!

Editado por TheArtist: 6/12/2020 10:39:22 AMThey also need to let them be used on special and heavy weapons as well. Effectively limiting them to primaries forces you to run multiple primary weapons in any matchmade content. Effectively nerfing the player damage output...
