Why should I grind content that has a expiration date on it.

I'm not interested in doing any of the new content if my time isn't going to be respected. Instead "IF" I continued playing all I would do is complete last wish and garden each week because those are the only sources of permanent gear that we have at the moment. So once again why is it worth my time and effort to do any new content for weapons I cant use when I want, where I want to. And btw I honestly enjoy playing destiny like everyone else which it's irritating hearing that a change like this is actually going to make it through the development team. Because I can see how its going to suck all the life and fun out of any new content that gets added to the game as well as any previous content that's still there.

  • Bungie has two options. Either they nerf or sunset. It’s going to suck either way. I think we are all getting annoyed by the constant nerfs that keep hitting our favorite weapons and agree there needs to be a change. With that being said, do we prefer constant nerfs trying to strike balance or do we prefer less nerfs with a one year lifespan in end game? They nerf something to give us reasons to use other options or they let the viability of it run out through sun setting without nerfing it so heavily or at all. I think the best example we have is from D1Y1. We were all using FateBringer, Black Hammer, and Gjallarhorn. It was fun and they were powerful. They had multiple options. They could design content and new weapons around the power of those weapons, nerf them, or sun set them. They chose to sun set them at the time. They did eventually return in nerfed states which makes me wonder if this system will turn out any better. There is a difference between the system we got in D1 and this new system though. The Year 1 weapons that got sunset pretty much lost all viability. This system should only affect end game viability.

  • Well, why did you farm for things in D1 knowing that they will be useless as the Destiny series will continue?

    • You forgot to add that they won't be making new weapons and armor just recycling it, and letting you change armor skin so it still looks like your wearing something cool even when its nothing special.

Exactly why I'm probably never coming back to this game. If my loot is gonna become obsolete, I'm not gonna grind for it.

            • You shouldn’t and many wont. This game is now, do bare minimum to beat the endgame and move on until new content drops.

            • You shouldn't. I'm not. Nor will I be jumping through any hoops to get ritual weapons. I am still playing mainly to see the evolving story; Destiny's lore is really the only good aspect of the game. The rest is just tedious and tiresome repeats of the same activities over and over again. Spending hours grinding for god rolls is part of that hamster wheel. But now that they've decided to shelve weapons, I no longer feel compelled to bother. From now on, I'm just using whatever happens to drop during regular play, no more intentional grinding and wasting my time. If a good roll happens to drop, so be it. But I'm not getting baited by Bungie and their piss poor game design any longer.

              • Collecting weapons should not be the main reason to play a game, but Bungie made the game that way, Sunsetting will discourage quite a lot of players, including me. I would really like to buy the next big extension, but i would like to play relax, i do not want pressure to always have the latest gun. We all know the next big DLC will require a huge power level, so we won't be able to use our old guns in the campaign and the new exploration zone(s).

                • I'm not. If I happen to keep playing this game, I'll do it with whatever rolls drop on the ground. It's a waste of my time grind expiring weapons (sort of), and it's almost a waste of time to play the game anymore.

                • It gets worse. We are only getting new armor for the core playlist. There will not be a unique loot pool for core list. Just the world loot pool which is filled with gear we already have but can't be increased to the max power. 3664 items are beibg sunset and bungie and clearly unable to replace them. So if they can't replace them the can not sunset them. Not paying for an expansion with less viable content.

It is just longer than the year. Will have a higher max power level. Will still have a max level.

                      • First off, your time is respected. A year is a very long time. You can use your stuff in end game for an entire year. Only Destiny fans think a year is a short amount of time. Your time is not devalued. You have had a TON of time to use the stuff you got. It took me 2 months to get a great roll on my Blast Furnace. I love my god roll pulse rifle. It was A LOT OF GRINDING to get it. But you know what? That was a year and a half ago. You know how many hours I have put into the game using that pulse rifle? A disgusting amount over a year and a half. Bring on the new pulse rifles! I spent even longer going after the curated hand cannon from the forges with Kill Clip and Rampage. A very long time. I finally got it and had a lot of fun with it. Almost a year now. My time is respected! Why do you think a year (or more for a lot of stuff you got last year) is not a lot of time? Like what are you specifically talking about here? With what? If something takes you 3 months to grind for, and you get to use it for 9 entire months after, THAT IS A LONG TIME. That doesn't devalue your time in any way whatsoever unless your'e out of your mind. You know how many hours of gameplay you can sink in 9 months time? A WHOLE HELL OF A LOT. Do you avoid buying animals because they have an "expiration date"? If you got an item and thought "I'll use this forever" then you need to rethink your expectations.

                        • I do not like th idea of sunsetting but I am willing to give it a go and if I do not like the results then I will change my playing routine. My biggest fear is that Bungie will not increase the chance of god roll on the new items and we will be playing with stuff that is inferior to what we had before just raising the frustration levels unesscerely.

                          • Why play a game at all, you're gonna die eventually? You do realise this game will end right? You do realise that? Why play at all then? That's your logic. I'll grind out new stuff, cos it's fun. I'm not some loser, looking to artificially raise my KD and think a shotgun roll with 5+ more range will suddenly make me a god at PVP. I like to shoot the gun. Gun go ratatatat. Raids are fun. Ordeals are fun. I like making my character. "Oh but it goes away after a year". Ok? A year ago my grandad died and I didn't have a job. It's not that important, it's a -blam!-in videogame.
