There isn't anything keeping most of us here except a lack of suitable alternatives.

I had this same conversation with a clanmate the other day. If there are any capable people out there that have caught on and are working on it, they are building a gold mine. It would be good for everyone who likes Destiny for Bungie to have some legitimate competition.
-
1 RespuestaI think you are right. I think it will happen in the next six months on the new consoles. In reality, destiny is cool, but bungie sold me on the ten year commitment. I really love that idea of growing a alternate persona for ten years. Turns out bungie was just shooting of PR. They had no idea it intention how to keep their empty promises. I owe them nothing and hope a better destiny awaits us all.
-
hmm, Anthem comes to mind right away, and went away just as quick.
-
Anthem tried and failed. A Game like Destiny takes years to Develop. Not to mention a Story. Anthems story is very dumb. And with that (Redacted) at the end.....ya BORING. Seen that story to many times. Totally Zero originality. Already Saw the Ending and not impressed. Destiny though...Keeps you guessing.
-
These other companies are buffoons. All they did was just copy what Destiny did, instead of innovate. The Division, Anthem, and Warframe have not become Destiny killers. Oh, and add that joke of game Ghost Recon: Breakpoint to the list. The only game that does loot better than Destiny is Diablo 3, but it never has new DLC's or new content.

10 Respuestasso far, two have tried, and failed. oh wait, make that three have tried, two have spectacularly failed, and the latest one is alright, but once the honeymoon phase has passed, it seems to have been forgotten (yes, im talking about borderlands 3). people talk mad shit about Destiny and bungie, but so far they have survived the test of time.

4 RespuestasNo developer that I currently see in the looter-shooter scene could possibly produce a game that will completely destroy Destiny. Why? Well, there’s a multitude of reasons: -First-person vs. Third-person: Destiny stands in a unique position as a first-person looter shooter in an increasingly saturated market of third-person ones. Even if games like Borderlands 3 and The Division 2 were completely perfect, they’d never kill Destiny because of the fact they exist in a different perspective and so offer completely different experiences. -Gun “feel:” it isn’t an unpopular opinion to suggest that Destiny has one of if not the best gunplay feels on the market right now. Movement, shooting, sounds, etc all make you feel immersed and grants that sense of guns being extensions of yourself. Other looter shooters on the market have weapons as pure tools and not outlets for meaningful expression. -Art/Music: while certainly a much smaller part of the picture, these certainly add to the experience immensely. I think most of us can agree Destiny has beautiful art and music that isn’t paralleled in other looter shooters currently. From the shores of Venus, to the haunting blighted Dreaming City—from Aksis to Riven, Bungie’s music and art design teams really deliver. -Games simply don’t destroy others: new games always are going to be at a disadvantage. Never do established titles just get removed to irrelevance and obscurity because of some new title, especially not one as seated as Destiny. I mean we all know Call of Duty is the same thing every year but we’re all still buying it and playing it. Why? Because we know what to expect, we know what we are getting, and we trust that experience to be enjoyable in the same way the previous ones were. Destiny has a dedicated fan base now, one that is substantial enough (according to even the lowest numbers ever in the game which if I remember correctly was around 300,000-ish?) to support this game for a very long time.

I already left, i went backwards instead of forwards in generations. I went back to N64 and I love it lol.

Editado por Golden_Apple: 5/25/2020 7:05:23 AMThe gun play in this game is the bread and butter. If you can make a game similar to destiny with a better loot system, better rpg mechanics, and replicate the gunplay (or make it better), you're Golden. If we do get a true destiny killer, it'll be sometime after the new consoles launch. Bungie can't innovative due to horrid working conditions and piss poor management. I'll find it hard to believe we won't be getting any good looter shooters in the future (Don't mind that account removed, I'm using data atm)

46 RespuestasYeah its called Warframe, and that game has worthless content thats out-dated, terrible balancing, and activities are either pathetically easy or cheating to make the game "difficult". All because they refuse to sunset stuff. Funny that.
-
1 RespuestaKeeping an eye on news involving Anthem 2.0.
-
Editado por $hirtless Captain Kirk: 5/25/2020 3:10:11 PMThat's a fact. It's also a fact nobody comes close. Bungie might piss you off, but we know you don't have a viable alternative. Could change with Outriders but doubtful.
-
Editado por Smallershrub: 5/25/2020 4:48:50 PMThere have been multiple games that have tried, but they’re all worse off than destiny. It’s not easy But if somebody were to do it right, I would definitely play it

1 RespuestaKinda sucks that Anthem failed.
-
For a Destiny clone to be a successful alternate it's gonna need iconic characters. The characters of Anthem, Titanfall and Warframe aren't household names. The new game's gonna need an even more iconic Cayde-6, something like a Lara Croft that even non-gamers know, but with personality, and team of NPCs that you care about. The Destiny NPCs are absolutely boring, but for some reason they've caught on. Maybe meme culture? In any case, get a really good writing team, some great character developers, and figure out a profitable model for sustained entertaining content and shut up and take my money.
-
Not true. So many have tried to bottle this lightning. They all failed more or less. We have watched Destiny killer games come and go for many years.
-
Division 2 got closest to compete and that game has an awful end game imo. I platted Div2 and uninstalled it.
-
very true.
-
Uhm, NO Many have tried. Some are still trying. All have ultimately failed to keep anyones attention more than Bungie. ALL OF THEM
-
1 RespuestaSeveral very competent and big studios have tried. They’ve all failed. Because people use such big language to talk about how bad Destiny is, but it’s nowhere near as bad as they make it out to be.
-
2 RespuestasAll the so called Destiny killers are Third Person though. Even if Anthem hadn't been the dumpster fire it turned out to be, it still wouldn't have killed Destiny. Destiny's gun play is just awesome, it's like crack cocaine. No matter how frustrating the game can be at times, nothing is as addictive as shooting a gun in Destiny. Titanfall's gun play comes very close. If EA could somehow recreate Titanfall's gun play and combine it with everything that's good about Anthem, they would have a serious game on their hands.
-
2 RespuestasI am really hoping that Activision had the good sense to see how much people love this concept and have been developing a Destiny clone all this time.
-
Exact this.

1 RespuestaWhat are the options? Division 2? In the same hole as Destiny, Massive and Bungie are doing more to show live service games do not work period, also while the armour system in Div2 is lights years better than Destiny but the gun play is awful, and the bullet sponge npcs are a nightmare. Not to mention the long standing bugs and that carried over from Div1, which imho is a better game than both at the current time, in fact you can get the Div1 plus all content for next to nothing. Warframe? Tough one, I tried it and the movement system paired with the frame variety is v.v.good, gun play like the Div2 is poor, and the grind is real. Borderlands 3? Lol, it's ok but nothing special, Borderlands 2 is still the better game for my money. Horrendous gun play though but the stories and extra content are great. I was a long time Eve Online player and every time something similar was mentioned it was going to be the Eve killer, guess what? Eve is still going strong and is the ultimate sandbox for me, has it got issues, yes but it is head and shoulders above anything else if you like player interaction. Eve and Destiny have one thing in common and that is the fact that no game will kill them, they will kill themselves, Eve will not go that route, too many people have too much invested for that to ever happen barring the most horrendous mismanagement, Destiny on the other hand is looking less secure but I don't think it will happen anytime soon for the same reason, too many people have too much invested, plus its core game play is solid and for the most part v.good. All the changes coming in the shape of retirement are awful and just plain lazy but it's going to happen, and with the new content in the Autumn you know it will be ok. People don't want to play anything else if they did they wouldn't be here, there are alternatives with different strengths but people still play Destiny.

3 RespuestasIve been waiting a long time for other dev houses to do this, but of course make it better and having dedicated servers would be one massive start. Alas IMO there is no other Destiny out there.

1 RespuestaAnthem easily could have destroyed this game if it wasn't put togeather by a bunch of incompetent idiots. Really a huge shame what happened with that game. It could have been one of the best games ever made.
