I genuinely want to know because some of the people’s posts opinions are scattered and make zero sense. Please give me your opinion I really would like to know what YOUR view on sunsetting is.
Edit: Thank you all for clearly expressing your opinions

1 RespuestaI'd be fine with it if it didnt affect the following Pinnacle weapons/quest weapons that people wasted hours to months to get. Armor: seriously leave that stuff alone. I dont want to waste materials everytime looking for my stats again just to have my hybrid healer tank build again.
-
Editado por SSK0T: 5/24/2020 4:36:09 PMThe argument goes... "I put a lot of work into my build/gear and now B is going to take my stuff away." Funny thing is that we also like to complain that there is nothing to do because we've already put all this time into our build/gear. The argument then continues "they are being lazy making me chase Uriel's Gift (or whatever) for the third time and should have put all those resources into new content." Ok, I kind of agree with that, but that isn't what B is going to do. They've done this many times already in D1 and D2. There are always complaints, but forcing us to chase "new" or "not so new, but current version" gear doesn't break the game. If they want to ease the parting blow then they just need a new meta weapon or two and we'll forget all about our old stuff.

11 RespuestasPersonally I don't give a shit about it. The short answer to your question though is that people fear change.
-
7 RespuestasIts because if you give people something to whine and -blam!- about then they are going to. Especially on this forum so many entitled little kids throwing temper tantrums about things they haven't even tried yet... they forget we had sun setting in d1 and everyone played the crap out of that game!! Also ad a whole I feel my d1 gaurdian was/is way stronger then my d2 one. The guns and armour I have feel so much better in d1
-
I'm mainly concerned about armor along with my what weapons are being used. Currently endgame content in pve revolves around the champion mods. The less weapons there are in the game + the already very specific weapon you can put mods on creates a very stale and boring endgame expiereme. Not to mention that the time put into upgrading and leveling up armor is all for nothing if my intent was to use it in endgame.
-
I am 💯 for it. Anything that is a break from what’s been happening is a plus for me. I’m just not sure if Bungie has the ability to do any better. It’s kinda all on them to make or break this thing.
-
5 RespuestasSunseting should have always been a thing in d2. On why people are complaining about it, it's easy: "bungie bad". It's the usual mindless hate train. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of problems with the game, but if you're looking for a meaningful discussion on what could be improved, these forums are not the place to do it. They're full of stupid people.
-
Because without weapon collecting, without caring about what weapons and rolls you get now....the game has nothing. There is no content.
-
2 RespuestasI dont care about losing my stuff as long as it stays gone, im sick of guns returning instead of new stuff being created.
-
1 RespuestaOne huge misconception with sunsetting is so it can make room for new weapons and armor. The current stuff is staying in the game though, how is it making room for anything? Just make new gear and let us choose, you know let us "play the way we want" If the new stuff is interesting we will use it, otherwise they didn't try hard enough. Dont punish us for lack of ingenuity. If all of your good designs are from the artists that already left the studio, well maybe it's time for some new talent as well. Dont try to dictate how I want to play just because it doesn't fall in line with how you want me to play... especially when the motto is play they way you want. All the gear I spent 6000+ hours on acquiring and perfecting being sunsetted for a mindless objective is going to do nothing more that lower my desire to play. The sunset of static rolls in favor of random rolls was necessary, this one is not. There it is. My opinion
-
Because the community is upset when they can't get everything they want.

3 RespuestasEditado por LocoToopa: 5/24/2020 5:30:15 PMCos spoilt entitled brats seem to cry and whine about the slightest first world problem these days. It's both hilarious and deeply troubling. It's not even like "Sunsetting" is anything new, or that big of a deal (granted, they may not have played D1, but still...) Personally I would love to see an annual reset of loot. The pursuit of loot is the game for me. I would love it to be rare and difficult again and not just rained down on us, or a quest that comprises of kill 50 million thrall.

1 RespuestaYou ever taken a toy away from a child?
-
big deal the uk sunset their clocks twice a year do we complain nope .
-
Because it took me roughly 2 seasons to get my armour roughly how I want it stat wise and I can’t be arsed going through that repeatedly.
-
5 RespuestasEditado por lCertifiedl: 5/24/2020 5:46:02 PMMainly because they are sunsettting gear to bring the exact same thing back at a later date, so in essence it's pointless. You aren't of a sudden going to get an influx of brand new weapons, perks and archetypes. They shot themselves in the foot when they said they are struggling to make content as I lost my faith in new content. It's just a cheap way to remove loot and then bring it back as "content". Most people who have been around for a while could see this coming as bungies track record isn't exactly glowing in recent times.
-
2 RespuestasThey are removing their small loot pool of weapons (in future content) and replacing it with a smaller pool. This will create the problem that you will have to re-grind every season a new god roll gun (and armor which can take months for some people) just for it to become usless faster then the weapon that comes out the next season its a big loop of grind. When people always enjoyed using a gun they grinded thought was cool and worked well for them same for armor and stats, they dont care they want higher player counts and will make it so people have to grind more. As well they said thei will re-introduce old gear into newer loot pools, they will re-skin the gun and sell it with a new ornament for silver after you already owned a ornament for its previous version. This is all a ploy to make money

Editado por Latrodectus5002: 5/25/2020 8:10:03 AMFew reasons personally. 1. It directly contradicts what bungie was going for in Y3 about player freedom & playing how you want. 2. It comes across as a lazy way to give players “new” content when they could make actual new experiences such as raids or quests that go beyond “get 30 precision kills & 20 void kills”. Given Bungie’s track record, the new weapons will likely just be reskins meaning that you’d just be grinding to get to the same spot you were before. 3. It makes the grind not worth people’s time when the weapons & armour they grinded for will just get sidelined in a year anyway. It also makes some endgame content irrelevant by sheer virtue of their content being sunset.

10 RespuestasDude there are so many Posts where People are complaining with a lot of good Reasons why sunsetting is a bad Idea. Just read and if you still don't get it you probably won't ever.
-
They just love to blow everything out of proportion because it's dramatic, and gets them the attention they crave. The only people against sunsetting are the people who want to crutch the same loadout for another 500 years, and complain that there's "nothing else to use".
-
There are multiple reasons that various posts have covered that are valid reasons for people to be angry. The thing where Luke said he understands how we don't like our stuff being taken away and that they won't do it again, bull shit. The dev's always saying "play your way," when all's they do is try to bottleneck what you can and can't use in an effort to create an artificial meta (champion mods, armor 2.0 when it first dropped, etc) because they want "challenge." Then the huge feeling of time invalidation as every single roll and weapon you thought you could use forever (which validated a reason to farm stuff you didn't need) is now nothing more than a trophy that they can ALSO re-issue after taking it away and PLAN to do so. They have reissued gear before, but you could at least justify the time they ask you to regrind it because you could've held onto it forever and it forever remained usable for whatever. They have proven themselves to be too slow at gear creation and so nobody trusts that they can come close to replacing all the weapons that everyone is about to lose access to. And people keep trying to use "patrols" as a counter argument or "endgame only" when any seasonal content that comes out is based around the new light level increase which means all the meaningful content you can't use that gear for. It's basically worthless to hold onto it (unless you fancy playing nothing but patrols, strikes and quickplay all day) which plays into the whole time invalidation feeling. Since everything is temporary theres also no reason to dedicate your time like most people do now to obtain god rolls because it becomes pointless or will get taken away eventually anyways. Sure it lasts a whole year, but theres no guarantee that as each season rolls out that it won't slowly become less viable due to light, meaning that time spent could really BE worthless unless you are always chasing the higher light loot (which really spins the hamster wheel). Them saying they can "now" create new or interesting weapons because of "it not being a problem forever" is bull shit. A problem for a whole year is still a problem for a whole year and it contradicts their desire to make the game "more difficult." If the weapon decimates pve it's likely going to get nerfed. If it's so good that it breaks pvp it will also get nerfed because most of the playlists aren't light based so something like revoker really CAN stay a problem forever except for in trials or iron banner (which don't matter as of right now) and ruling out these highly probable scenarios would be foolish. And they still haven't given anybody any reassurance that they will deliver on their word. People are literally fuming and they won't even give us a preview of anything because they "don't want to spoil it." I remember how great that tactic always works for games that try it... There's more, but I think this covers the majority of why people dont like it. No trust that bungie can deliver, angry because they are taking away our gear we like using, and because it feels like they are trying to make the game an endless grind. Destiny used to be my favorite game to play and I would play it all the time, but its slowly and surely come a hell of a long way to achieve nothing. It's been like 6 years and they've done nothing but back track on every good change they've made. Infusion, even if it wasn't forever sustainable, was a great system for the people who don't want an infinite hamster wheel and it truly felt unique because of that. It truly was play your way...and if they don't deliver I truly may never touch this game again because it just wouldn't be for me.
-
I don't have a problem with sun setting. I have a problem with bungie at the moment. I have 0 faith in all these amazing perks that are going to be available. The raid designer says wouldn't it be great to have different Recluses. Sure wood, but in a month they will all be nerfed because of people complaining about how powerful they are. I don't even want to get started on armor, takes for ever to get gear with the stats that you want. I know I'm not preordering. I know they are getting all the bad stuff out of the way and preparing us for what's next. Until I see what's next, I'm not to excited.
-
I'm not upset about sunsetting (not the first time they've done this and I barely use only gear anyway) what I am worried about is the same as others are worried about. Bungie hasn't been able to deliver on much of their promises lately (look at the "didn't want it to be half baked" trials) and they haven't been adding a lot to the loot pool each season/expansion. Not to mention that they blatantly said that will will sell you your old gear back at a later date for you to regrind. So if they are just going to bring them up to date anyway, why make them useless in the first place?
-
Personally I’m not upset at sunsetting, since it was in D1. But I am indeed concerned about it, since in D1 we had tons of new stuff every new DLC and things were very different. I believe people is raging out as of now because they (and I certainly include myself) don’t think Bungie will deliver.
-
2 RespuestasIm not terribly upset but the grind to get some of the pinnacles was ridiculous. If they resuce grind it wont be so bad. Plus some of pinnacle have never had a chance to be good due to meta.
-
4 RespuestasIt's a game killer. It shows lack of innovation, it throws away any grind time, it's been tried before and it blew up in their faces. So either they respect our time investments like they say, or they don't. Sun setting proves the latter. They could organically make us want to change weapons, but that would take some actual critical thinking and ingenuity on their part
