We do not get or even have close to enough weapons to retire in Destiny 2.
Fact check.
1. Destiny 1 had more weapons because the weapon was built to support PVE and its power-progression. Destiny 2 got saddled with a weapons system that was designed to produce PVP balance...and LIMIT player power. So the game LITERALLY can't make more weapons than it currently is. Because all they would be is reskins of the same weapon over and over again.
2. Destiny 1 retired weapons from the game once...and then took advantage of a hard reboot that was coming in Destiny 2. So power creep wasn't a problem because Bungie retired the Y1 raid weapons in the same way they plan on doing in Destiny 2 between Y1 and Y2 of D1. Then going into Destiny 2, Destiny 1 BLEW UP OUR VAULTS. Once again taking the powerful weapons of D1 away from us.
3. Destiny 2 has not had the advantage of this. So we are literally sitting on nearly THREE YEARS of weapons. I can go into my vault tonight...and haul out weapons from Y1s Leviathan raid....and Y1 TRIALS OF THE NINE....infuse them up....
...and be good to go.
No loot game can stand this. If you leave every weapon in the game the game WILL DIE. You'll either break the game by having to keep making them more and more and more poweful so that people chase them.....
....or you nerf them all down to a bland sameness, in an effor to control power creep....and loot incentive dies.
People are complaining that the game feels unrewarding....because it is. We've all been grinding for the same weapons over and over again now for the last 18 months....and Bungie has been retiring weapons via back-breaking nerfs. Rather than restricting infusion.

Watch cammycakes video. He explaines things well.
-
I don’t need him to explain anything to me. I’ve been playing loot games for 25 years, and I said Bungie would eventually be forced to do this 4 years ago. No other loot game lets you endlessly increase the level of gear, and their trying to allow it was doomed to fail. Bungie is just (finally) manning up and owning that failure.
-
Dont want to see both sides huh. Logic is badddddd
-
Actually logic is the on my side. Any experienced loot gamer knows that letting you keep loot forever and endlessly level it up eventually destroys a game. Cammy is arguing from the point of view of a shooter gamer and a pvp player. He actually thought that the changes to vanilla D2 that the community hated and nearly destroyed the franchise were a good thing. I know his perspective well enough to know that he has nothing of value to contribute here.

Wrong. You are simply an apologist and trapped by tour narrow thinking. If they sunsetted weapons a few months AFTER acquiring them that might make some sense. You need to understand many weapons and gear take some time to get. There are many ways to avoid power creep. What this is is a way to make money. Short and simple. Reuse old content and avoid power creep the easy way. Watch some videos. Think outside of your made up mind. Realize there are other points of view. Now go back to work for bungie.

Editado por TheArtist: 5/16/2020 5:52:57 PMName me one successful loot game that lets people take a loot item and endlessly level it up? Take your time. Better yet, don’t waste your time. None of them do it, and I’m tired of explaining to you why that is. I’m not apologizing for Bungie. I’m explaining the rules of good game design. Rules Bungie tried to ignore. I told Bungie they were going to have to do this four years ago. But they were too stubborn and arrogant to listen. They thought they were smarter and more capable than everyone else and could succeed where everyone else failed. They weren’t...and they didn’t. And all they accomplished was to waste four years of player patience and goodwill...and to make this moment 10 times more difficult than it had to be. This was inevitable and Bungie brought this community outrage down on their own heads.
-
That wasnt my point. You must not read at all.
-
With all due respect, my point is the only one that matters in this situation. This game will die if Bungie doesn’t do this....and most of the problems that are plaguing this game right now are because Bungie didn’t do this years ago.
-
I am not saying i am against sunsetting weapons. You do t get my point. Again there are a couple of videos that discuss pros and cons. Watch them . Dont think you know or have thought of everything. Also if grind for some of the weapons was significantly reduced( randys not forgotten etc) sunsetting would be accepted much better.
-
We can debate forever what is the best way to do it. What is not debatable is that it has to be done.
-
It is open to debate. Lots of ways to avoid power creep. Think tour smart . I bet you can think of several ways.
-
Nope can only think of one way. I said it four years ago....and now here we are. Doing now, what I said needed to be done back then. 😁
-
There have been several ways mentioned. Watch cammycakes video for one
-
This is the kellygreen way. Avoid arguing the point you bring up and just keep reiterating the point that he thinks is right. I wouldnt waste my breathe trying to argue. It goes like this every time.
-
Thanks. Im not. I would lime to know is he on bungies payroll.

"No loot game can stand this. If you leave every weapon in the game the game WILL DIE. You'll either break the game by having to keep making them more and more and more poweful so that people chase them....." Warframe and Borderlands enter the room... boss music starts to play. Warframe and Borderlands are both loot games like Destiny and want to know something interesting neither of them have made it so old guns become completely irrelevant. A gun you got years ago is just as effective now as it was then and will be just as effective years from now. Yeah in Warframe the guns might get balanced but nothing is made to be irrelevant later on. So no leaving every weapon in the game will not kill the game. What kills a game is having a looter shooter with virtually no loot compared to your previous game, release virtually no new and better guns, release new weapons in a slow trickle, make most new guns reskins of old guns, and make it so the only good guns you've ever released become obselete to force your players to use the new shittier reskins you release.
-
Warframe isn’t a loot game, it’s a crafting game. Different rules. But the power level of gear is ultimately capped. Borderlands retires power by fixing the item level of gear, and fit in you to grind for a higher level version of it if you want to keep using it.
-
Last I checked you still loot shit in warframe.
-
You look building material and mods to build gear. If ya why you have a foundry in the back of your ship.
-
Still loot
-
No. Because they don’t give power. They power is in what they build.
-
And you also loot the blueprints for said gear, therefore you’re just looting gear with extra steps.
-
Then maybe Bungie should look at other ways to give an incentive grind something OTHER than loot. Accruing XP for new class abilities or perks, adding gameplay to ships and sparrows (SRL and/or space battles), lore puzzles that don't involve platforming or shooting, etc. If the loot of the looter-shooter is becoming such a massive problem with no definitive solution, then expand what the game is capable of offering or skip to Destiny 3, another hard reset. Sunsetting is A solution, but it's not THE solution.
