Low FPS help, I've tried everything I can think of...

Forgive me if this post is bad, I've tried to search for solutions everywhere I can think. So here goes... My system is a Ryzen 7 1700, (OC'd to 3.4ghz). 32gb DDR4 PC3200 G.Skill Trident Z RAM, (actually running at 3200) AORUS 1080ti GPU Windows 10 I've attempted multiple monitors. My gaming monitor is a GSYNC ASUS 3k, I own an ACER 4k, and a Samsung HD monitor, all with similar/perplexing results. So I'm only getting between 55-85 FPS in-game. While in orbit, the frames hit in the 260s+, but once I fly into a location, they go very low. The strangest part, it does NOT matter what my graphical settings are set to. Low vs High settings give almost the exact same FPS results. It doesn't matter what changes I've made to setting in the Geforce control Panel, I have my computer's power options set to High performance. I don't have an integrated gpu, but have set the windows graphical settings to "High Performance" there as well. Also, multiple settings changes in GeForce Control Panel see no noticeable changes. I've reinstalled D2 multiple times. I even completely wiped my HD and reinstalled D2. No change. I've tried D2 on a regular HD and on an M.2. I've checked my CPU and GPU usage while in game, my CPU is around 30-40% usage, GPU never goes above 60C. The game used to work just fine, but it was years ago. I only came back to try on PC after cross-save, and noticed the issue. Other games seem to work fine. Something else to note, the game seem to give me slightly BETTER fps on my 4k monitor... which I found odd. The game also runs around the same fps on low settings on my older gaming laptop running a 980m and an i7 mobile. Any thought or advice? I'm at my wits end here. thanks!

Try turning off the CPU overclock for one. That's pointless on a Ryzen using Zen 1 architecture. Secondly, get MSI Afterburner, and monitor your 1080 temps while playing. You might be experiencing thermal throttling. Destiny recently got a graphics update, as well, so make sure all your drivers are up to date, make sure Vsync and all your other syncs are turned off, and test the game at the lowest settings possible, gradually increasing them to see what messes your game up, if anything. EDIT: I just noticed you're running 3200MHz RAM on a 1700. That means a couple of things. One, it means you're overclocking it. Two, it's not running in dual channel. The best dual channel, dual rank RAM speed you can get on Zen 1 architecture is 2400MHz. Get two sticks of that, running in dual channel (I use 2x16G, 1600X, and RTX 2070, never get less than 200fps on D2), and that'll almost definitely make a difference. It might benchmark better on paper with 3200MHz, but the difference is negligible, and 'on paper' is never a good indication of actual performance in gaming. EDIT 2: I just checked and it turns out, my housemate runs a very similar setup to you, and doesn't have these issues. His RAM is different but he has the 1700X and 1080. I can't see any reason why there should be a significant difference. Once again, just make sure all your drivers are up to date, and also, Windows. Make sure Windows is up to date and you have the latest build (1909). If I could see a copy of your dxdiag report, I can maybe help you more. EDIT 3: Your FPS actually isn't really that bad, now that I think about it. Just because it's not over a hundred doesn't mean it isn't playable.

its your fault is you use AMD :0 . you mix 2 brand is fight each other in same pc and I dont think they will co operative to release any patch for fix it. cheaper thing always come with price. I play from 4K@UltraMax out. Gsync Vsync on at 180% render and not see any issue on it. not even single micro stutter . its don't even need other monitor or wall TV. This game freely alt tab from full screen play like in screenshot . and its never ever crash :0 https://steamuserimages-ba.akamaihd.net/ugc/1001429518939048866/456557B6D7C65F282C8CAFA0A9A322D1EC4DDB76/ D2 is use full of gpu power. if you use SLI . its full power SLI . and make me able to play 4K Ultra Max. this is a thing is less shooting game in market can do . https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/1001429518939128109/40424EAA108C197981591B4B99ACD86C6CE968D8/ https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/1001429518939128813/869D1994C592C7E962D469F2FC9E4F5FCA80B198/ and alt tab during reply this post. during shooting something over there . Well my advice is like other ppl in my local pc forum said. just go buy other brand *facepalm or you can try go make a post on AMD forum and ask them for help . its not D2 issue. I don't think anything will progress from here. cheer

        • It's your CPU... Why spend like 100$ on a cpu which is arguably the most important part of the computer but get 200$ ram. When Destiny only uses 4gb?

Just a quick thought: 30-40% CPU is probably for all cores. Which translates to 2 or 3 cores going ham. My point is, that you still just boost to 3.7 GHz, like my cheap 2200G, while other CPUs run up to 5GHz. So I suppose there's your bottleneck. It's also logical in this case that resolution doesn't matter to your results. Resolution is made by the GPU alone. Hence my recommendation is to upgrade your processor, if it matters that much to you.

            • What screen resolution are you using? I mean, for 4K those fps are right, for 1080 they are low.
