there have been many great viewpoints on both sides of the aisle.
Overwhelming majority still oppose the change, as it is.
I think the biggest concern, is the grind for a good roll can take an entire season as it stands, that would be insulting to lose it immediately after. Another big concern is, the materials we sink into our favorite guns will be wasted, if we decide to masterwork at all.
Finally, many fear that the weapon rotation from Bungies creative team will not, in fact, be fresh weapon ideas, but simply reskins of old tired weapons, in order to create an artificial gear chase, which would act more like a revolving door, than an evolving world.
If bungie can address these top 3 concerns, that would go a long way to showing some good faith.
The reason why it has come to this is because weapon usage is probably abysmal for the newly introduced weapons. The issue isn't older weapons being too powerful for the content, but rather newly introduced weapons are not bringing anything special to the table. We are getting new looks, new sounds, new feel, but not what matters at the core of gameplay, application. Weapons introduced in new content should provide a clear advantage to that content itself directly. They become highly sought after when they have an unexpected benefit to content outside of their origin. Greatest example is the Recluse. If new content becomes introduced, the rewards should directly increase how powerful you perform withing the content. Heroic/Legend versions of content should almost demand the use of these items via their difficulty, as a portion of them are acquired via the normal and the rest through the higher difficulty version. If they want to see newer weapons get used, it should happen naturally not artificially. Simply relying on a power level system to accomplish this is disappointing. Every time they introduce a new set of weapons, they should include a handful of new and powerful perks. However, if players find a creative way to use older weapons to accomplish things, so be it. One of the most appealing things about the game was the infusion system. It felt really awesome to bring your favorite stuff into new activities. I agree newer weapons need more love, but not by being told our old gear is outdated. Yes, your players understand that light level only matters so much, but there is an artificial appeal of feeling more powerful with a higher light level, it acts as a badge of honor for what we have worked towards. Sometimes your players just want a rock an old favorite and still feel powerful.

1 RespuestaIf there’s better gear to grind for, then I’m cool with it. However, I think they should lock those weapons at their current light, then raise the level cap. That way those weapons can still be relevant in crucible, but not flat out dominate other aspects of the game.

Weapon retirement is a good thing. Makes the meta shift around. Makes new weapons useful. The art team is doing a good job in New models and they are just used to infused stuff people have had for a year+.
-
So I don't care about power. I stopped chasing power long ago (everything good gets nerfed anyway). I only use what I like and feels good. I don't want bungie forcing me to use guns that I don't like or that feel bad just to force me to grind for stuff I already had all over again. If you take away my favorite hand cannon I'm not gonna go use a scout or pulse. I'm gonna go look for another hand cannon. So just let me keep the weapons I like.

1 RespuestaYou can literally go into any endgame content with a gun you got in the first hour of the game and destroy with it. What kind of progression is that? Why would our current equipment be effective in any and all future content? If we want Bungie to focus on new content we need to let them do that. The current system is bloating the lootpool and it's unsustainable. Anytime they add something to game they have to design against everything still relevant in the game. That is a huge burden that wastes time and holds back interesting design.

4 RespuestasHere is the reason weapon retirement works. One it forces the meta to change without constantly having to monitor the sandbox every single season. Second it forces you to work at new content in ways you have not had to, creating a fresh experience. The reality is the reason the game is getting stale is that no one wants to give up their god roll weapons in PvE or PvP. Its the same 5-10 weapons in use for both and that is a problem. No one is forcing you to never use the weapon again. You want to replay GoS, Scourge, or any legacy content with your bygones, blast furnace, recluse, or midnight coup? Go for it, they will still be at a power level that allows that. Whatever new content comes out though you will have to adapt and learn to beat it by trying something new which is legitimately what half of you people -blam!- about constantly. "All they do is recycle and nothing feels new" They come out and say hey we are going to retire old weapons so we can focus more heavily on new stuff to create a new play environment and everyone goes no we dont want that..... So which is it do you want new or not? This isnt even a new concept, they did this in D1 with the taken king because the fact was the same weapons were just constantly being used and it was getting old. It forced you to handle things differently and adapt something new, and because of that it is still considered one of the best destiny DLC's. Call me a fan boy if you want but the fact of the matter is I will happily be forced to take off my recluse because i cant use it anymore to try something new because right now why would i try something new if i know i dont have to and what im using works? That is also all just for the PvE side of things look at PvP and its even worse spare rations, revoker, beloved, and hammer head... Thats all anyone uses, with the return of trials is imperative to have a way to constantly help change the meta otherwise its just boring and stale the same as PvE is right now. You want to stick with the old thats fine dont buy the new stuff and just play the old stuff with your same weapons. No one has a gun to your head saying hey keep playing the new stuff and use new weapons.

3 RespuestasAgainst, and it's because: - It only affects end-game activities, which mean the positives of a changing meta in Crucible or even sandbox PvE aren't present - It removes incentive to get weapons, therefore, it removes some incentive in previous content like raids and rituals / pinnacles - To me personally (Opinion here, not a fact) it feels like the easy way out for the issues doing this would solve, and it seems that it creates more problems than it solves anyways

Did you see Cozmo response on the other forum. That boy is built like a toothpick how is he gonna try to have a condescending tone with somebody😂😂😂

63 RespuestasI’m happy with it. It’s something I liked about other games like WoW. With each new expansion my end game gear was good for levelling but that’s about it. I would need to replace it with new endgame gear.
-
This means we're getting completely new weapons and not reskins right? Right!?
-
Will they even listen? I feel like they dont care and just think “oh, people will forget”.

1 RespuestaTo all the people who said they love or don’t mind it, I say, dishonor! Dishonor on your whole family! Dishonor on you! Dishonor on your cow!

1 RespuestaEditado por Cinderchar: 3/4/2020 3:04:49 PMThis comes with a huge caveat in my opinion. If they keep drop rates the same as they are now, it's absolute ass. If they go the route this season where it was pretty easy tp get all the god-rolls even before the restoration event, I won't mind it. Hitting 92 on the pass to unlock a second perk option on the forth perk slot was huge. Giving us up to 5 weapons after each Sundial run was huge. Giving all the weapons their own bounties that didn't require much was huge. And then the restoration even to fill in any gaps was huge. They need to proceed with ALL of that every season if I was to get on board with weapon retirement. It didn't cost me and arm and a leg to get every god-roll this season so I won't miss anything from Dawn when that gets retired one day. But people who do 100+ runs to finally get something like Anarchy -- that's absolute shit game design if they keep that system AND retire weapons.
-
Hated it in D1, not looking forward to it’s return in D2. It kind of sucked when Y1 weapons got left behind for not having random rolls, but at least their original rolls could be infused.
-
How about interesting and exciting new weapons and content instead of retiring old stuff
-
2 RespuestasRented guns to go with our expiring content. So excited for that. /s
-
I think there is way too much importance placed on "God rolls". You can succeed just fine with a less than perfect weapon. It's not like I won't miss my excellent Blast Furnace if it gets phased out, but it gets boring using the same weapon all the time. I actually appreciate the changing weapon mods from the seasonal artifact for the same reason. I've been forced to use scout rifles as my primary far more than I would have done if I could have put an anti-barrier mod on a legendary hand cannon.
-
4 RespuestasI don’t mind it as long as there’s decent loot to go after. I have a feeling shit will he retired and the weapons we get aren’t even remotely as good . We’ll have to see how it plays out.
-
2 RespuestasI can understand the arguements on both sides here. Personally? Don't really care so long as the gunplay itself stays as it is and so long as there will be a compound bow to replace the eventual retirement of my Subtle.
-
I'd like to point out with the "lose my gear immediately after the season" argument, you won't. The proposed time period is roughly a full year.
-
4 RespuestasI love it because thats how it should work. Every RPG game has some kind of progression, but in Destiny 2 at this moment there is no progression. I ape with my mountaintop and recluse and im not going to change that unless they make me to do so.
-
I'm not a fan of it at all, but I can see where they are coming from with it. I have all 500 slots of my vault filled up with god roll weapons I never use. Weapons just aren't special anymore. So I actually agree, I could use a bit of fresh air...
-
4 RespuestasIt worked in d1. God forbid you can't your season 1 better devil's in the grandmaster nightfall. It's nowhere near that big of a deal. And as a side effect, there might be more weapons. It will make crucible more predictable and fresh. Power level is also disabled in pvp so you can bring your old weapons, while in iron banner and trials, old OP weapons will not be present and it will make the competitive crucible modes more fair.
-
not a problem
-
Im fine with it. Its not like they are deleting the weapons. We can still use them. But god forbid we use some other than the stale meta for infinity. Maaaah my MB with 14000 crucible kills cant be used in trials a year from now!!! I quit!!
-
Keep pinnacles and raid weapons at least
