If u think about it, they ain't powerful to begin with.
This excuse sounds just funny to me.
Let's disregard pvp cuz you can still use them in pvp even with low light.
Let's discuss pve (and trials , IB)
First of all just disregard all primary guns, cuz you know, they suk. When was the last time you killed a champion with an AR?
Special weapons:
They are good sure, but almot all damage perks where nerfed to the ground (rampage, kc, multi kc, box breathing, ...)
The game became interesting with new perks (firing line, subsistence, rapid hit, osmosis.....) Not because they took away our old guns !!
Heavy weapons could also be good without light capping old guns.
Rockets with 2 in the mag.
Linear Fusions of a new archetype.
Nade launchers with a straight firing trajectory, like mountain top.
Sure you can use your old guns, but if the new ones are actually fun and interesting!?
And what is wrong with Jimmy 2 sticks playing the same guns for 5 years ? Isn't that the basic principle of freedom?
They also said something about: "the team is spending a lot of time balancing old guns" which is just ABSURD AND RIDICULOUS LMAO
when was the last pve balance patch ?
You guys NEVER DO THAT outside maybe fall releases
So please don't drop those BS excuses on us.
You wanna do the game your way, FINE
it's your game after all, but stop the BS excuses, we have brains

3 RespuestasSo they make new weapons and those ones will rotate but not our old ones... you know confusing that's going to be for players?

1 RespuestaEditado por TJ_Dot: 3/2/2020 8:52:55 PMThere are 56 legendary archetypes of weapons, so "balancing old guns" hardly makes sense. Newest is wave-frame special GLs, before that, High-Impact MGs, before that, Rapid Fire MGs, then the MG itself (adaptive), 2 burst side arms and both bows. and we're already back ar forsaken. How much more has the balancing array really grown in the last year and a half? How much do they seriously need to test every time they change anything? What does "old guns" even mean? Everything's copies of each other with varied stats/perk rolls.

7 Respuestas
And what is wrong with Jimmy 2 sticks playing the same guns for 5 years ? Isn't that the basic principle of freedom?
Honestly? Nothing. This narrative being pushed by many, including notable content creators, is unnecessary to me. Why stigmatize other players who use a weapon they like more than anything else? Who cares. Stop trying to belittle people into thinking you're views are more valid or correct.

1 RespuestaI never get the "do you wanna use the same gun for 5 years" excuse. If I like a gun, and it is fun to play with then YES I do want to use it for 5 years. I'd rather have fun for 5 years, than use crappy stuff and be frustrated or bored for 5 years.

1 RespuestaThis isn't even addressing another issue this system creates: If bungie is going to be making "better" legendaries, then anything NOT light capped is going to be suffering due to power creep. Imagine they create a 150 rpm handcannon with 70 range, 60 stability, 80 handling and can roll range finder, rapid hit, high caliber rounds and has max recoil direction as a BASE stat. Spare rations is going to be a joke in the face of that weapon and it would be terrorizing quickplay all day every day. So what I'm getting at is...is that they aren't going to get rid of power creep at all, they just want to control the usefulness of each weapon each season. Like they do with the stupid rotating champion mods AND we will likely be getting nerfs like we do now. They aren't going to make SHIT better.

3 RespuestasMy honest question is, if the weapons are staying in the game and will still be used in pvp and most of pve, then how exactly can Bungie stop balancing them? I mean, every update adds a game breaking glitch caused by Telesto... so I’m not sure they actually look at or test old weapons anyway... but my question stands. This is just more of that Bungie fluff meant to fool people and give their white knights talking points. All of these retired weapons will just be sold back to people. More recycled content.

1 RespuestaEditado por Swiftchao: 3/3/2020 7:28:33 AMthey still couldn't balance the game when we had to ditch our D1 loot twice they clearly have no idea how to balance if they are resorting to pressing the restart button AGAIN

2 RespuestasI don't need to be forced to use different weapons/loadouts i choose to... When you are running the same activity over and over and over again it's much more interesting/enjoyable to change weapons/loadouts than use the same thing all the time... I've never had a problem with new weapons being boring or meaningless my problem is more with the activities themselves... The best part of season of dawn were the new weapons, it was the (same shit different smell) activities that were the problem... When the Taken king was released and all our loot got "taken" i remember how much it pissed off everyone i was playing with (since the beta) at the time causing most of them to quit the game for good...

Guildwars didn’t have power creep. There is your solution.

1 RespuestaThis is what Im for: - Vanguard and Crucible weapons should always be available, no retiring them - Raid weapons should be WAY more unique and powerful (Think Wrath of the Machine weapons) in their respective raid and out of it BUT these are the weapons that get retired - Damage increasing Perks GONE - Weaker/lesser used perks buffed up - Perks synergize with eachother Example: Rocket with Ambitious Assassins and Auto loading would be great if these to perks worked with eachother - Perks that synergize with our Subclass Where D2 currently is, and I HATE to admit this, weapon retiring is needed due to the fact that Bungie has changed their mind on so many things. What I mentioned above is basically a complete rework of our weapons and would be moot if our current weapons would remain. Again I hate the idea of weapon retirement, to an extent, but its needed now to hopefully bring us into a better ago. Now if these “new” weapons are going to have the same perks as in: - Damage Increasing Perks - Weaker/ Lesser Used perks Then retiring weapons is 100% pointless and literally only making us use weapons that LOOK different but have the same perks... which means we will go after the same perks we have now but just on a different gun. The problem is the perks... not the guns. Then we have toxic AF streamers such as Datto and Lono that criticizes and make fun of people that want to use the same weapons because they actually like using the same weapons. Guess what... people like the idea of using the same weapon. The issue right now is that the perks on those weapons are too strong. Personally I would be 100% fine with weapon retirement if Bungie could reliably make weapons that look good to me but this is a me issue. If retired weapon model would be ornaments I would be fine with it but that will never happen.

1 RespuestaNow do you really need to rebalance old guns? I mean every gun in the game falls into a specific archtype and that determines its damage etc... Do they make changes on a per gun basis or do they just blanket all the archtypes?

Why do I even bother
