This change honestly isnt for new lights and casuals. Its more for a handful of people who have exhausted their own loot pool by playing more than most people (i.e. streamers) and want new carrots to chase every season because they already have it all. While the new lights and casuals are content with the things theyve earned or are earning. Im someone who plays probably more than most and i hate this change. It makes randomized perks not that exciting when you know it expires.

 • I got 5,000hrs in this game and sure, I've got most every piece of gear I'll want and enjoy to date, but this update to me is a slap in the face because that's 5,000hrs going down the toilet. Grinding shit out mindlessly isn't fun, the gratification you get from getting that perfect roll and making it out of the other end of your grind successfully is what made Destiny to me worth playing. With that gone I will be too. I'm only sorry I invested that much time into a disappointment

 • Imagine how greaty it feels to get a god roll. Now imagine getting it and instantly remembering its lifespan is about to end in a couple months....

Luke watches twitch and sees how the “gaming professionals” roll through his less than creative boss battles and he’s run out of ideas. So taking away the players tools of destruction and making them earn the same tools back is this season’s approach. If it falls flat, it will be something new in the next Directors Cut.

 • You mean the same loot with a different name and we won’t be able to use it again eventually like our old loot. And no it’s not 99% of content what about trials and ib that is light enabled. And than i want to bring my nf 😑oh okay

 •
...we'll get better loot with better utilization now that weapons will have endgame expiration dates.
That’s a huge assumption my friend. I’m not assuming Bungie will make “better” loot. Some weapons with a higher number, yes, but “better”? I doubt it. It’s my belief this is just a way of controlling what gear we take into end-game. And that gear will be deliberately neutered from day one so we can’t burn a boss like we can now.

 • They have been saying that since VOG and they have never been very good or powerful since. The endgame weapons are usually subpar and they have been since VOG. Luke Smith always said those particular raid weapons were too good as well. I honestly just don’t trust these guys anymore.

 • This. They did this in D1 twice and everybody was infuriated by it then too. The didn't like that Gjallarhorn, Ice Breaker, and the raid/flawless primaries gave the player an extra advantage they didn't plan for. So they took everything away. People stopped playing and then they were forced to reintroduce a majority of what they took away in ROI to get players back. Except, they were all universally worse and they expected you to re-grind all of them. There's a reason people bring up the original Thorn quest and how hard it was. Imagine being expected to do the pre-nerf Mountaintop quest again for a worse version of the same gun with no shortcut for people who already had earned it.

 • I've paid for the game before it came to steam. Now effectively the things I paid for are getting gated away. And the 10€ season passes are made to disappear too. There's no reason to give these con artist any more money if they just artificially create problems and give us paid solutions for.

 • rental gear and gameplay systems are all crap for players devs deciding to take away value from players because they aren't generating enough actual content, all to keep the micro treadmill running i miss when the game was designed around an amazing experience instead of micros and retention of addicted whales

It pretty much makes masterworking and chasing weapons that we like good rolls of a waste of time. Of course this is all part of the current Bungle trend. Everyhting (i.e. Seasons) is temporary and goes away so they don't have to update it or support it.
