Do you fellow adults with 9-5s still actually play?

I haven’t played in god knows how long. I used to love the game and grind for raids mostly but man I’ve even skipped the last two raids. Just watched them on twitch instead. I don’t think I could have functioned in my adult life anymore and continued playing Destiny. Doing tasks I “need to do” felt a lot like a second job. Now I only play games that I can have some pure fun in with no real tasks and hop on and off. Like Apex. I decided towards the beginning of last year I would no longer play or buy expansions until they got to the point with the story. I’m talking Savathun shows up or the rest of the Darkness Pyramid ships. Otherwise I’m done with these little side stories taking up my time. How do you guys still handle it? Do you still love it as much as Destiny 1?

  • You can get a lot of hours and it will show on your paycheck. Spend a lot of hours in Destiny 2 and your reward is a nerfed weapon. Yay. Rather wash my car lmao.

  • The game is for kids or unemployed man childs (streamers) When you get into the real world with a paying job and a commute, you don't have time for games like this.

    • I play mostly on weekends. Working 8-430pm, going to the gym, letting my dogs out, etc and then trying to play is hard for the weekdays.

      • Nope, haven’t touched destiny in a bit, it’s just a pile of meh rn. I’m just waiting to see if Bungie actually cares about their game but every update my patience grows thin.

      • Work 50 hours per week, get my housework done, spend time with the family and still manage to complete everything this game has offered thus far except the last raid which I have zero intention of running plate mechanics over and over again.

Eh i left, i didnt want to invest into a game that makes too many unnecessary changes let alone doesn’t listen to its community of players. This is just my take on the question.

        • I could never keep up with all pve content and I don’t rush any quests really. Sure, I’ll be slower reaching the new power levels into new seasons but doesn’t bother me I like pvp more.

        • Adult with a job and a family. Only play one character. Anymore I only come back for fun stuff; mayhem, broken Wish Ender, etc. I still check D1, and if the strike modifiers are fun I'll spend time there. Nothing about normal D2 really draws me in. My gaming takes a hard nose dive in the summer and fall because I'm either doing family stuff or track days or just out riding. In D1 I felt like I could sort of keep up even at a slower pace, but now I don't even really care.

        • I used to play religiously. Especially D1. But alas, that was in 2014. Fast forward to now. I have a beautiful house. Brand new Lexus and a beautiful girlfriend who loves to spend time with me. I do not have the time to spend grinding non stop for hours for Re-skinned weapons and armor. That’s essentially what destiny has become. You want us back bungie ? Give us VOG style raids again. Where the best weapons and armor peace’s are exclusive to that specific raid only. Just like it was in D1. Used to love walking around the tower in my chatter white full raid armor with the VEX mythoclast on my back-letting my nuts hang ! Raids in D2 lost their magic. My girlfriend used to enjoy watching us having to sneak around the Gorgon Maze, would help me find the Oracles and help with Venus or Mars. D2 doesn’t have that anymore. Y’all messed up man. I have thousands of hours into both games combined and although I enjoyed it, I do not want to grind non stop for Re-skinned things and when I do a raid, it’s crap gear.

Nope. I quit back in September. Too much repetitive gameplay required for minimal rewards, im my opinion. And more bugs than fixes with each update. EDIT: Just to clarify. I'd been playing religiously since, I think, October 2014? Bought all the dlcs until Shadowkeep. I loved almost every minute of it and loved all the fun times I had with friends while playing. It was just my time to move on.

        • No. I have better things to do with my time. Playing Destiny was the equivalent of throwing my spare time into a black hole.

          • Yeah, I do . Now that the kids moved out, I actually have more free time for gaming. But honestly part of it is that after work I'm often too tired to think. If I try to read a book, I fall asleep. I play Destiny because it's kind of brainless activity. Pick a task "ok, I need 100 hand cannon kills now" and just grind at it.

          • Now I just level up my main/hunter, no more grinding all 3 every week-haven’t played like that in a long time, mainly cause it’s pointless now and a big waste of time overall. My clan jumped ship a while ago, I have a hanfull of scourge clears, 3 crown “attempts”, 1 GOS clear, no spire clears. In D1 this would these stats would be unheard of. Now I just get all the ritual/season weapons, any new exotic, play gambit for the fun of it, but mainly crucible because I want to improve and somehow get legend/not forgotten. I would enjoy a weekly raid but it’s better like this because I don’t care so much and sometimes consider quitting all together. At the end of the day, this is still my favorite game and the only game I want to play. The game mechanics and uniqueness of the characters and their abilities plus graphics and inventive weapons and gear, keep it at the top for me. Maybe some company will create something better.

          • 9 to 5? Lol, must be nice. I work crazy hours and my schedule can change from one day to the next. 60-70 hour work weeks are typical. I love D2, I just don't get to play as often. When I do, I enjoy my time immensely. Especially if my young son also wants to play. At the end of the day, it's just a game. Go play something you enjoy instead of something you don't. Life is too short. Be good to one another.

I am a 6am to 630pm worker. I play most days. I've skipped every raid though aside from a dozen last wish runs, with no voices, obviously. I don't have time to study YouTube videos and "have 15+ clears must have raid emblem on" bs. I'll get my PvP pinnacles and play what's fun when i have time. I get the most enjoyment out of building efficient PvP load outs and testing them against actual humans as opposed to running the same multiple hour, you can't play if you don't have this or that, must have x amount of clears, know all the puzzles by heart raid shenanigans for a .06% chance at the raid exotic. I'd rather just make a build and run a few PvP games here and there. And it's been sweet. For years. Hate if you want idgaf Hype for trials

              • I think you can still play with the aim of getting raid ready and completing that. The journey is just a lot shorter than it use to be in D1. Nowadays there is so much to do in D2 I find that just focusing on specific things you really want is the best way to play. Then once I’ve achieved that, if I feel like playing more I just pick another goal. If I don’t, I’ll pick up something else for a bit. I like the game but the reasons to log in do seem not as enticing as they were in the past.
