If it were not for Eververse, I would have had to pay more for the game. We all would have. I'm all for Eververse buyers funding my play.

  • Bungie makes money from Eververse and puts it back into the game. If those funds aren't there, then they would have to charge more for something else to make up the difference. Or cut something which means there is less in the game to play. Same as if you had extra income that dries up. You either have to cut expenses or find a replacement for the income loss. That seems like basic finance to me.

EV is stripping content we already paid for out of the game and selling it to us piece by piece at inflated prices. It’s only gotten worse since the split with Activision.

  • The money to operate the business has to come from somewhere. Whatever isn't generated from Eververse would have to made up somewhere else. Or otherwise staff and projects cut to work without the extra money.

Or otherwise staff and projects cut to work without the extra money.[/quote] It comes from game sales, dlc sales, season pass sales, merch sales, and outside investment ($100 million from NetEase). This game isn’t free to play. It has never been free to play. They recently added a free to play mode as a life raft, but it’s still not free to play.

  • Think of all the income sources you mention as your full time job and Eververse is your part time job. If you quit your part time job, you now have less money coming in. How do you pay your bills? You either need to cut back or find another source of income to make up for it. You seem to be saying the loss of income doesn't matter.

In your metaphor it would be like taking product away from your full time job customers and selling it to them as your part time job. I’m saying that the predatory microtransaction model Bungie has moved to over the years is harmful to the game and its players, and Bungie does not need it to produce the game. They make plenty of money just selling the game.

  • What have they funding with Eververse? The Holiday events that weren't ever needed anyways? Oh wow glad we got reskins for having over half the content behind more pay walls.

  • I wish Bungie would disclose that. Someone once posted that SRL was one of the earliest things funded by Eververse. I'm sure that's not all. Someone else also posted that Eververse has brought in 300 million dollars. That seems like a lot to me. Even if it was 30 million or 3 million, it's money that goes back into the game for which I would otherwise have to pay more. • If eververse put even a small proportion of its revenue back into the game we would be playing a much better game by now. Bungie are treating D2 as a cash cow, running it with a skeleton crew while they work on other projects.

You should be skeptical of what Bungie execs claim.

  • Back when they first put Eververse into Destiny 1 and people complained Bungie claimed the money would be used to fund special events in the game. Special events such as holiday events that are just reskinned since they first happened with reskinned loot from other parts of the game. They clearly have been doing as little work as possible to get as much as possible. Just people are now sick and tired of Eververse content prices going up and yet Bungie doing less and less with the money. I mean woo they reskinned the Oven to look different this year compared to last year. Then the big major change they did was European Ariel Zone. Other than that everything for each event is the same except maybe the vendor stands in a different spot in the tower .... maybe. Even the rewards are just reskins from previous parts of the game.

Zero hour was a bonus though, it wasn't on any roadmap. Hence free content. They also didn't say it directly funded it, they said it raised an equivalent amount. Hence why it says 'Dev cost wise' and not just paid for.
