Sundial is a refined version of EP. Bungie learned from EP’s mistakes. But I don’t think Bungie is going to go back and completely redesign EP at this point. The content is almost two years later old.

Does it work this way? In my experience, it's next to impossible to find a public event on Mars, because EP activations will prevent public events from starting in the area. If you're lucky enough to rally to a flag before EP starts, you get sent to another phase. If anything, EP interferes with public events, and makes Mars flashpoints way more difficult than they need to be.
