Obvious examples... the Scientologists (John Travolta, Tom Cruise).
But also, I was rewatching Iron Man, and “pepper” aka Gwyneth Paltrow has said some rather stupid and delusional things, and that’s all I could think of while she was onscreen.

I believe everything Hollywood instructs me to believe. I am too stupid to make up my own mind.

3 RespuestasYeah a bit. Harrison Ford, as Indiana Jones, has a scene where he openly talks about having sex with a 13 year old, both Spielberg and Lucas initially wanted her to be 11 then settled for 13. She pleads that she was only a child, but Jones barks back saying she knew what she was doing. It's disgusting! Stuff like that turns you off from Hollywood in general. E.T. was a wrinkly old man who abducted a little boy and touched him with his magic glowing finger. A phallic dinosaur suddenly sprays goop all over the kids while they "pet" it in Jurassic Park. That stuff is littered everywhere. Once you see it, you never stop seeing it. The only real entertainment I get from movies now is pointing it out and mocking it with my brother. I don't enjoy theaters anymore since doing that is extremely inconsiderate of other theater goers.

Well sure, take Kevin Spacey and Christian Bale for example. I used to think that they were phenomenal actors, masters of their art, but then I learned about how they are when they're not acting...a scum bag and an asshole. I still enjoy the movies that they are in because the movies them selves are great but when I see them in those movies I can't help but feel somber.

I don't keep up with celebs at all, so I probably don't hear about most of these bat shit crazy moments.

3 RespuestasWhat’s all this fuss about Tom cruise?
-
Not really. They are actors. If Howard Stern was playing Jesus that might bother me, but otherwise who cares about the morals/opinions of stupid actors?
-
Your black magic won’t work on me, Tom Cruise.

1 Respuesta"Im not gay... Im not gay..." Yes you are Tom. Dont lie.
-
No. Tom Cruise is a nut, but I love most of his movies.
-
2 RespuestasNo. Same logic as Artist =/= their art. They’re two different things that shouldn’t be judged together in my opinion, Kanye is a dick but he has good music for example, or Chris Brown has decent music but he’s a woman beater. As long as the actor gives a good portrayal of the role and it’s entertaining, I don’t care that they believe in the evil lord Xenu.

3 Respuestas
But also, I was rewatching Iron Man, and “pepper” aka Gwyneth Paltrow has said some rather stupid and delusional things, and that’s all I could think of while she was onscreen.
My thoughts on her have changed over the years as well. Now whenever I see her onscreen, I can't help but think about her steaming her cooter

Editado por lethalbarracuda: 12/29/2019 6:29:03 PMOnly in extreme cases really, Tom Cruise, as crazy as he is, doesnt go around screaming about scientology so I don't think about it too much. Gwyneth Paltrow is much more openly weird and so I have a harder time dissociating the character and the actor.

Yes, in extreme cases. I try not to let it bother me though: a horrible person might still have created great art, and that should be respected even if the person is simultaneously condemned.
-
Nah. The live in a hyper insulated environment. So weird things abound. I also like to say a bunch of wildly ridiculous things for comedic effect. So nah no judgement

Editado por Deadshot--Prime: 12/29/2019 1:05:04 PMNot typically. I try to separate what people do/ say apart from their work.
-
As people, yes. As actors, no. This doesn’t affect their acting and I’ll still watch their movies if it’s something I’m interested in seeing. Example: Tom Cruise gets a lot of sci-fi roles and I generally like the movies, but he’s nuts.

1 RespuestaEditado por Latrodectus5002: 12/29/2019 5:15:29 AMUsed to like Jim Carrey & I still like some of his movies (Batman Forever is comedy gold). Then I found out he was an anti-vaxxer/pro-plaguer & instantly liked him much less as a result. Edit: Also after learning all the details of exactly what the Sargon drama was about, I also like JonTron a lot less.

It can. If they say try to force their political views in their characters. Imagine if a necrophiliac played Spider-Man, and then insisted that Spider-Man was always a necrophiliac. That’s an extreme example but I assume you get the idea.
-
Not really. I can separate an actor from the characters they play pretty well.
-
I usually separate art from artist. And just not pay attention if I can help it.

I don't give a flying rat's ass. I do not go to a movie to see or hear the actor's bat shit ideas. I go because the movie looks interesting. I don't eat at Chick-fil-A because of their politics, I eat there because the food is usually good, the service is fast & friendly. I don't care about the politics, the religion or their belief in aliens. I spend my money on the things that appeal to me.
