Being bad doesn't mean not exotic.
You're asking for strong exotics
Exotic means unique
English
-
Not all exotics are “unique” enough in the current sandbox. Skyburner’s Oath doesn’t outperform legendary counterparts against Cabal, and the firing modes and shield pen. aren’t useful when most legendaries can do the same but better with the introduction of artifact mods. Trinity Ghoul is just a bow that has an activate-able dragonfly effect, but suffers because you need to chain precision kills in order to keep this effect active. The spread-shot of three arrows is a useless novelty that only serves to lower its damage output on smaller targets and create situations where you get body-shot kills or lightning kills that will prevent you from chaining the perk. Hush and any dragonfly-capable bow outclasses it.

I mean sure but his point between Terrabah and Recluse is really valid. Recluse does what Terrabah does but better and Recluse is legendary as well.

Stop being a dick, he is trying to improve the game at least.

If you're gonna make a request it's best to have the terms properly defined so that the request is received without miscommunication If OP asks for more exotic exotics, and bungie gives us an exotic that shoots unicorn farts that do 0 damage. That's not bungies fault. It's a response using the established definitions of the word exotic in the context of destiny.

Then why are we limited to one? To much uniqueness?
-
Because depending on the unique perk it could be too powerful if paired with other perks. It'd also completely devalue legendary gear Not to mention, exotics seem to be capstones for builds. Things you take into consideration and build around

Ok so name a combination that would be so broken that it would warrant exotics as a whole to be limited. I’m just talking about weapons, as some armor pieces would be absolutely disgusting as exotic weapon quality is in general lower than armor

Anarchy and Izanagi’s Burden. The Last Word and Wardcliff Coil. Lumina and Divinity. Thorn and Truth. Just to name a few...
-
The first two I agree with, the third is a solid no, and the last is a maybe? Thorn is strong and so is truth, but there are weapon combos that would be stronger. Lumina is bad as it’s buff doesn’t stack and it’s not a great weapon in general with the way it functions, and divinity got nerfed so it’s not as good. They also play into opposite play styles, with lumina needing you to kill enemies to heal, and compete with allies for kills, while divinity needs you to laser focus on one enemy and completely work with your team. It would be pretty strong but not overpowered. But if these are so strong, why aren’t other exotics as strong as them? You can’t tell me things like xenophage and skyburners is strong because it’s not. Why are there such high highs, but when people say that there are such low lows, you say that they are supposed to be unique and as powerful as legendaries, but when somebody says why they aren’t balanced as such with being able to use as many as you want you use, you point to the highs that OP wants these other exotics to be at. I understand that not everything can be super strong, but with how many that are weak and the extent they are they should either not have the one equip limitation or be as strong as other exotics. If exotics where supposed to be as strong as legendaries, why does bungie keep making some of them purposefully making some stronger, such as huckleberry having a statistically better rampage or izanagi having the best dps and total damage of any special sniper? Wouldn’t they have been nerfed by now due to their dominance or not even buffed In the first place. Things can be unique and strong, like izanagi and wardcliff

Lumina and Divinity are like pocket-DPS buffing weapons individually, together they make a boss killer combo for activities in which you’ll have smaller teams where you won’t be able to have supers up constantly. 2 noble rounds and some special ammo are all you’ll need to start a damage phase with some high DPS potential. Divinity did not get nerfed, it got fixed. Since it’s conception it’s only been buffed (went from 20% weaken to 30%). The problem with having so many exotics is that not all of them can be as powerful as the next one, and some are going to take a back seat to others. Exotics like Merciless will never be as good as Jotunn for this reason. However, some exotics have no excuse for being as bad as they are i.e. Skyburner’s/Trinity Ghoul. Bungie hasn’t gotten around to making them not-trash, but that doesn’t mean I think you should stop advocating for them to be better. Bungie has slowed down with making every exotic in a new DLC become the end-all of its class, and people have become used to this trend so they just classify guns that don’t outrank older exotics as trash. I do it too, I just use the word “trash” more sparingly because I know what trash is, and it isn’t some of these weapons. Xenophage is not very good compared to its DPS exotic counterparts, but when you strap on Actium War Rig and attack a boss that doesn’t have an easy to hit crit spot, you can do some -blam!-ing work. Leviathans Breath has a super long charge time and lackluster damage, but I’ve found it to be useful in tandem with Mountaintop for DPS phases during ordeal nightfalls and Sundial runs with randoms than the Eriana’s Vow-GL builds that I had to grow accustomed to in early Shadowkeep. The stunlock effect of consecutive charged shots is also very useful on non-unstoppable enemies who are capable of surviving the shots. My point is that exotics are limited for a reason, pretending like we’re back in year 1 where exotics were basically interchangeable with legendaries in terms of viability is not a fair assessment of their current status in the sandbox.
