As far as smoking pot goes you are right. It’s relatively harmless. Which is why it’s legal in many places now.
But you can’t say drugs in general are a victimless crime. Theres the harm being done to the users own health. Also how many lives have been destroyed by dugs? What about the wider social cost of the drugs? People overdosing, junkies stealing to get their fix, family breakdown, prôstitution, drug trafficking, gang violence, drug cartel murders etc. etc. There’s thousands of victims associated with the drug industry.

True it goes deeper, but you could argue that's a failing of the government to ban it to begin with, banning it doesn't mean it goes away, it just hands control of it to unofficial channels. The self harm aspect is choice too, you could say it's harmful to society, but with that mentality we should ban unhealthy foods and be a nanny state telling people how to live. Anything can be taken to extremes to, its up to family and friends to help themselves. Families have broken down to many kinds of addictions, work addiction, mmorpg addiction, just because someone uses, doesn't make it an addiction or a problem in every case.

I’m not disagreeing. I actually am in favor of decriminalising drugs - not because I think drugs are okay but because banning them doesn’t work and I think we need a different, health based approach. My only point was that they aren’t a victimless crime. Surely you can’t deny the harm caused by drugs - just take a look around any community or area ravaged by meth. It’s a nightmare.

Some drugs are bad enough to ban, meth is up there, ket to, that's dirt. It's a nightmare really tho because banning it results in contaminated drugs which are more harmful than they should be. But where is the line? Legal cyanide? I was more defending pot than crack 😅 I get why it's such a complicated issue tho, no clear answers
