When starting, I ended up getting to a place where I could access a lot of things but I didn't have much direction. Either way, I found my way so that obviously wasn't so bad. Now I am at the point where I want to join others doing more difficult and interesting content. I don't know anyone personally that plays. This leaves me with the social communication systems in-game.
To be frank, they are terrible. I have seen very few people say anything at all in chat. When I ask questions in chat, I never get any responses. When trying to form a party, I have to go to an external browser to find a group (really???? I have played a lot of online MMO style games and this is the first I have had to ever do something like that). When trying to join a group, half the time I just get some error and I can't even communicate with the people in the fireteam. All of these things make it extremely difficult to want to continue after reaching this point. It is actually extremely frustrating as it makes things that seem like they should be simple (like finding a group of people to do some dungeon/raid/content) an arduous task.
I found posts complaining about the chat and partying system almost 2 years ago. Is there seriously no priority on improving these things?
Edit: Just as an FYI, I may be a New Light player but I did preorder Stadia. It was actually how I found out about New Light. I will be getting Destiny 2: The Collection and so I feel I am doing my part to support the game.
Edit 2: I never once mentioned more matchmaking (though in general I probably wouldn't be against it). I honestly don't think that would address the core issue that once someone leaves group I have no effective way to communicate with them in game. It is difficult to find and form groups with the tools provided in game (or that had been my experience) and I really feel it is probably hurting the player base by not improving. I feel like effective chat tools like being able to form groups with people you don't know, easy grouping with people you aren't friends with on another platform (I really don't want my steam friends list full of people I randomly grouped with once in Destiny 2).

Just wait until you obtain Recluse, Izanagi, Whisper, Mountaintop, and Wendigo. They're all curated rolls that ruin the weapon grind. You have no reason to grind other than to collect for PvE. PvP has reverted back to scout teamshot meta from Y1 so Jade Rabbit and Recluse it up! The abundance of curated rolls just make some weapons automatically superior by default. You can achieve max power and beyond without needing Pinnacle activities thanks to the Artifact so why bother? Raid gear? Useless. Raid mods are the only worthwhile endeavor. Unless of course you like to gamble with your time and attempt to obtain halfway useful raid exotics that are RNG based. I hope you're okay with potentially 50+ runs like some poor -blam!- have been subjected to. You either like or hate PvP depending on your skill level due to SBMM. Gambit or, Truth: The Game, is just an utter pile of failure and that's just being nice about it. The only halfway worthwhile thing about the game is the lore. And that's marketed with a $30 USD price tag and only lasts about an hour and a half with each campaign. I play Destiny when I'm taking a break from better games or with my gf and best friend because they aren't very big gamers and just like to shoot things with pew pews. The laughs make it worthwhile. All games are built to waste time, but Destiny can barely make that time wasted seem enjoyable. As a Veteran player to a New Light player, just pass on the game. I am trying to find a new game to bring my itty bitty fireteam into so we can leave The Last City behind.

“Destiny needs improvements” You don’t say

8 RespuestasAs a console pleb, let me give you a fair warning... You’re about to get shat on by a bunch of console plebs who think that using an app to lfg is awesome. You’re obviously a pc gamer and know how pathetic this is, but... just... have mercy on the poor dullards who don’t know better.

4 RespuestasWelcome to the forums. Where people constantly over the past 6 years have supplied copious amounts of feedback only to get an extremely rare comment from bungie that's vague as hell. The current reply is something along the lines of "thanks for the feedback ill let the dev team know that *insert recap of topic* is something players are interested in" Also trolls are to the left and right also behind you and waiting around the corner for you with erentils. I'm sure you make a few good points in your post but I want you to have a realistic expectation of what actually happens on here.

2 RespuestasI think players not in a fireteam need to be in team chat by default and opt out themselves if they want. I'm convinced a huge portion of the player base doesn't know how to switch to team chat with the Ghost.

1 RespuestaI dont believe ur a new light player. As in “new to the game”.
-
Not to mention the app lags so badly that sometimes Ill post, get nothing, then get frustrated and log off, then hours later I get 3 friend requests and 5 PMs asking to join for the requested fireteam.... Wtf..

If it makes you feel better you are not the only one feeling that way: https://www.pcgamer.com/destiny-2-new-light-does-a-bad-job-of-acclimating-new-players/ ... I am a D1Y1 player turned D2 New Light player and in fact I feel the exact same way as you. Both in terms of the lack of direction regarding what to do and in terms of the highly deficient social communication systems in-game.

We asked for some kind of in game communication 5yrs ago.

Bungie don’t like people being able to access all their content easily, they prefer creating an elitist environment. I gave up trying to get optional matchmaking implemented, what I do now is when I get to endgame level I do what has matchmaking then I simply drop the game and move on, only returning for a substantial update.

1 RespuestaBungie claims to listen to the community however they really don't. Sorry you joined this late and haven't realized it yet. Unless you're an internet influencer with a brain wash following, you will be ignored. #Dattokeep

Doesn't affect me, but BUMP for new players.

3 RespuestasIt's not the in-game chat's fault. It's just that people are cowards and too stupid to access team chat, and also because discord is 1000x better

49 RespuestasJust to clear this up because it's annoying that some people are saying "D2 is free to play" That is literally spreading false info. Anyone that downloads New light as I did last night on my Xbox and asked for help on the help form because I had a little issue, a mode helped on that post. Anyone that installs New light still has to buy Forsaken and Shadow keep to access a lot of content in this game. Free to play would be Warframe, there isn't one single thing you need to buy to access any of the content unless they recently changed that. Yes, it has micro as some like to play around and say it's p2w, but, everything as I have been told through many players that play the game, what you can pay for you can acquire just by simply playing the game without spending money. As far as the OP and what the OP is asking for? This is the norm with this company, pay now and maybe they will fix later, and that that is even if they feel like it.
-
You just as well play the game the way it is, Bungie isn.t going to change squat. They pay absolutly no attention to what the players want. Unless of course you are a streamer.
-
As a fairly veteran player you are expressing what we have complained about for a while now ... you need to look at the clan section of the companion app, most pc users talk on discord more than in the rather shotty game chat ...
-
there is no point of going to the tower unless to pick up bounties and maybe quest, and then you can do most of your stuff on orbit and with things like Destiny Item Manager, you don't have to go to your vault nowadays. This makes The Tower or The farm abandoned, there's no point on hanging out in the tower. Bungo needs to make tower useful again, increase the max player perhaps to more than 30 and make an In-Game LFG board maybe. I rarely see people forming group with randoms in the tower and make friends and stuff like that, but when they do man U'll stick with them for a loong time.
-
At least PC has a chat. Console still doesn’t have one even though I distinctly remember some posts asking for a chat on console.
-
Most of the D2 playerbase are pretty casual, going to external LFG sites means you’ve already cut out all the potatoes as they can’t even open a browser and from there you can make your own requirements for players to meet

1 RespuestaEditado por TheArtist: 11/4/2019 9:55:53 PM
I found posts complaining about the chat and partying system almost 2 years ago. Is there seriously no priority on improving these things?
Day One Destiny 1 player here. The problem is that Bungie has their own agenda where it comes to these things...and its at odds with what the community wants. Bungie sees one of its institutional missions as "community building". So their goal is to funnel you into clans, and to keep clans small enough that you know everyone (or have at least an opportunity to know) everyone in that clan. When it works...its great. But the problem is that everyone doesn't want that...most clans in the game are dysfunctional or inactive....and there are no other in-game options besides random matchmaking, but a lot of the end-game content isn't suitable for that. Its too difficult and requires too much communication So the community has been forced to fill-in the game with LFG sites, and while that's serviceable....its not a very good solution either. Because its cumbersome. On consoles it relies on using the social networking features on those consoles (which are terrible on PSN).... ...and the result is (too often) the sort of experience you've had. Unfortunately, when Bungie gets an idea stuck in their heads, we often have to go to war with them to get them to budge.....and that war often takes a LONG time. We've been fighting this particular conflict for 4 years now....and Bungie just won't budge from trying to stack everything in teh game towards funneling us into clans.

Agreed, this has been an issue since D1. It would be nice if we had in-game chat/text on PS4 liked your our phone keyboard. Also, we should be able to look and match for fireteams in game instead of going to the Mobile.
-
Ah, to see ths new fuys bring up systems we have complained about for 5 years does my heart good...we have come up with so many workarounds for this stuff, I almost forgot they were issues lol
-
Needs to simply be an ingame place to post the activity you want to do. People could inspect your loadout and light level and decide if they want to play with you or not.

2 RespuestasWoW didn’t have a built in group finder for about a decade. You had to use a third party app

I feel the same way and I am not a new light player. I was on a team with someone in crucible last night and wanted to see if they would party up but for the life of me after the match ended I couldn't figure out how to contact that person again. I tried to whisper them and all it said was no player found or something along those lines.
